"I came back at the weekend at the brainhead. it is a beautiful place, very peaceful what we wanted. the room in which we stayed, fainting, was so small, quite claustrophobic and the bathroom was teeny! there was no ventilation in the bathroom. which is not no for me. the only care products that were present were half a bottle of shower and teeny bars sofe. the bedroom area was sufficient, nice large bed and nice beds. Too bad that the furniture was so wrong. the owner, stamatis and his son tim were very nice and friendly. the restaurant area was ok, eating very limited, but beautiful overall, they would be mute if they were vegan or vegetarian. the breakfast was very strange, a few small pots müsli, which had to be divided from table to table, a tub of Greek yogurt with some fresh fruit, then they had a selection of toast or toast! no baked goods or croissants. a cup of tea or coffee was offered, but no juice or water was present. Unfortunately, the whole place was quite dirty, the room in which we slept was dusty and the carpet needed a good cleanliness, I also noticed a few spots of what looked like blood on the white bedcloth! the restaurant and the bar were dirty, so much dust and spinn weaving everywhere! I didn't even dare to go near the public toilets as they were outside and my man told me the gents was disgusting! overall a nice, but we wouldn't be back sad."

Lying in the midst of a picturesque village is a gem of a pub. Good choice of drinks and a short menu of Greek classics souvlaki and moussaka looked and tasted superb. We ate in the sunny rear garden, but inside looked inviting too....Worth the detour.

Ate here on a Saturday night and pre-booked to make sure we had a table. Interesting menu with a definite Greek twist which was to be welcomed. We were not disappointed with our choice of a fish and a pasta mains because both were tasty...and well cooked. We would be delighted to eat here again.

An excellent meal! Very hospitable! Great drinks. Offered a table near the fire on a colder afternoon. Ordered lamb moussaka, rump ciabatta, fish and chips and tasty Greece for two. The tasty Greece for two was adapted for two vegetarians and all the food tasted...excellent! Would highly recommend

the pub has a picture postcard look. when you enter it, you imagine you will see an old worldly look, but no. it was a shady chic look. then look at the menu and think how most of the...Menu is Greek. that is because it is managed by a Greek family. the menu is not extensive, but eating is excellent quality fresh and very tasty

We hired a cottage in the enchanting village of Swalcliffe and decided to walk up to a very pretty looking village pub. We were pretty much the only guests there when we arrived but were told they couldnt accommodate us for food as they were...fully booked. An hour later we left. There was still only one other table occupied! The pub looks lovely inside and out and could be a real money spinner but the owners are missing out by turning away business. Its not very welcoming or friendly. Such a shame given its idilc appearance.

I've been visiting this place on and off for the last years through a variety of owners. The Greek owner and his sons are fabulous , friendly advocates for the pub, always willing to chat. However, the real let down is the chef owner....She is unfriendly; actually she is just rude. She is discourteous and dismissive. She makes us feel like we are an inconvenience and that she is doing us a favour by allowing us into the pub. When we visit we are clearly spending more than their average customer and often in the and yet we are treated coldly by her. She can barely bring herself to say hello, a fact we deliberately check each time we go in. If there were more local hostelries, we would avoid t...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
