"We stayed for 3 nights at this adorable little boutique hotel in Rothes. Rothes is a sleepy little town but this hotel is definitely worth a stop for dinner or drinks, even if you stay elsewhere. Our room, the Glen Spey suite, was nicely appointed with a completely renovated and modern bathroom and giant soaking tub. Everything was clean and comfortable. My only complaint is that there was a heat wave the week we were there (2nd week of Sept), nothing in Scotland has A/C, and while the room has a window and fan, the window was covered in spiders and so we had a few very scary spider encounters. They are a little short staffed due to covid (as is everywhere in Scotland), but the staff are BEYOND lovely and helpful. They never make you feel rushed or bothersome, and they do everything they can to accommodate. The restaurant onsite is excellent but if you are American the burger will not be what you are expecting and I recommend you try other dishes. Everything is locally sourced and the scallops/short rib appetizer was one of the best things I ate during our entire 2 week trip. And of course I cannot leave a review without mentioning the amazing and extensive whisky collection they have at the onsite bar. We had so much fun trying a lot of new-to-us Scotches. They also have many rare vintages and difficult to find whiskeys that you can try by the dram. There are very well priced flights including one with old whiskeys. Final thoughts: there is no Uber in the area so plan on requesting taxis an hour or more before you need them. Glen Grant Distillery is a 5 minute walk away, and Glenfiddich Distillery is about a 15 minute drive. Breakfast at the on site restaurant was the best we had at a hotel! Nearby activities: There is almost nothing to do in Rothes aside from walking along the river, Glen Grant Distillery (which has a nice garden to walk through), and two tiny restaurants with limited hours. I felt that having a car was necessary except that if you are drinking you need to take a taxi, and Uber was not available. Safety: Rothes is a very quiet safe town. The train station was bustling with a variety of dining options. I appreciated the beautiful Bull display in the middle. There was ample security and police, ensuring a safe atmosphere. The restrooms were clean and the signage was clear. The train schedules were easily visible and the different areas were well-labeled. Ver carta

Large train station flanked by 2 big malls the grand Central and Bullring. There is a large metal sculpture of a bull, and it moves! Iconic of this place and a must for photo taking. The station is modern and large with high roof, and houses all the usual amenities such as mini supermarket, news stand, cafes, bookshops etc. The connecting bus stop and tram stop are just outside the station

The modern design, numerous levels, and well-marked signs allow for easy maneuvering within the restaurant. The cleanliness, abundance of seating, various shops, and dining choices create a pleasant waiting experience for train passengers. The friendly staff and prompt service add to the overall journey. Overall, this centrally located and well-run station provides convenience and comfort for both commuters and tourists. Ver carta

This is modern, large and excellent train station. Despite their complexity; they were still organised. Trains kept to their schedules and on time; and there were ample spacious and comfortable waiting areas. The signages, and the displayed screens everywhere around the station were helpful and there is no way you will get lost. This is one of the best stations I have visited in the recent past. Staff were nice and friendly; environment clean and neat; and lots of facilities around to make passengers comfortable. Good platforms; close access to the city centre and easy connections to the major cities. I love the interior, shining exterior; it looks amazing. They were very organised and follo...

This train station is one of the best I have visited. I have been here twice and can confidently say that it was worth it. There isn't much to complain about. I particularly like the design of the station, with its reflective exterior and unique wavy frames on the inside. The environment is clean and well-maintained. All the trains were punctual, and there is plenty of seating available while you wait. The station has clear signage, making it easy to navigate and ensuring you won't get lost. The only downside I experienced was the lack of power outlets for charging phones. It was a bit of a struggle to find one when my battery was low. I believe more outlets should be added to improve the ov...

"2nd time here gave it the benefit of the doubt, arrived at 5:45pm, no one to greet us or the other family that arrived at the same time to check in. Shown to table and drinks ordered quick service and friendly waitresses. Ordered the starters and mains, to then be told there was no fillet left (at least 3 tables after us asked for the fillet too , maybe when showing people to their table things that have ran out could be mentioned then? The fillet must be a favourite as it had ran out last time we were there too. 40 minutes later our starters arrived, I had ordered the Wagyu brisket BIG MISTAKE! 95% Fat and 5% beef/meat…(see the pic was lovely presented! The waitress was lovely and took it back, for the chef to try and pan it off as “it’s a fatty cut” brisket does have fat but also includes more than a tiny sliver of meat. They offered to cook another which also suggested that they knew it wasn’t it, but I could be wrong. After the 40min wait and poor start we were just looking to get our mains and leave. The mains came…wagyu burger, again big mistake. The chips were lovely. The burger, well I could hardly cut it with the knife as it was rock solid far too over cooked, quite like the bun which had been cremated and was the stodgy iest “brioche” bun I’ve ever had. We got the bill and realised that we had been charged £2 for the cheese (which had been burnt too although it’s advertised as cheese bacon £2 so you’d think it would be £1 each. By this point we just wanted to leave, the food was awful. Would not recommend to anyone and most certainly will not be returning. Which is a shame as it could be such a great place and seeing the photos on trip advisor make it look lovely!"
