"Great pub and I am a regular here. Food is usually consistently good and obviously the drink prices are excellent owing to the fact that this pub is part of the Wetherspoons franchise. So you are obviously wondering why I only gave it one star? This is due to the atrocious and bullying behaviour I witnessed on Saturday night by one of the Managers to a security employee. We were enjoying a drink in the beer garden which was packed with people due to the fabulous weather. The young security man came around checking ids of those who may not have been old enough to be there when he was approached by a young woman who I assume was a Manager (blonde hair and glasses). This 'lady ' preceeded to scream at the member of security in front of the whole beer garden, accusing him of not doing his properly (he was). She stood shouting and pointing her finger in his face. The whole beer garden was watching in total disbelief and it made for such an uncomfortable atmosphere that we left (as did many others). The poor man was totally humiliated in front of everyone. Being management myself there is a way to deal with staff issues and this is not it. If there is an issue, pull the staff member to one side but do not ever bully him in front of a packed pub! Mentioning this to some other friends later in the evening and apparently this woman is well known for this type of behaviour. This bullying behaviour needs to be addressed asap and I won 't be going back there until this woman is put in a position which is more suited to her vile personality. Bullying is NEVER OK."

The meal was decent, but I was disappointed that they no longer offer the Strongbow Dark Fruit cider. I was offered a different drink (shown in the picture) as an alternative, but it was terrible - not a good taste or smooth on the palate. I struggled to finish it and only drank half before leaving the rest.

Body guards unnecessarily rude, really upset multiple people, seen them falsely accuse multiple people simply on their age of bringing alcohol in even after their pockets have been emptied and they have ordered drinks, waste of time, money, and just horrible people who run if. Food is awful, drinks are a scam. Do not recommend. : Ver carta

We stopped in for a drink at this restaurant and observed a concerning incident. A waiter accidentally dropped some chips on the floor in a busy area and chose to ignore them, as did other staff members. The chips were eventually walked into the carpet, which seemed unnecessary as it would have been easy to clean up the mess. This lack of attention to cleanliness was not only disrespectful to the staff who would have to clean it up but also to the customers dining in the restaurant.

Called in here for lunch one Friday with my husband,we managed to find a table as it wasn't very busy, ordered or meals of Fish,Chips and mushy Peas, what was brought to us was disappointing, the fish was very small overcooked and mine was broken with holes in it,not many chips either,I know you don't get many but these were a poor size portion, the Peas were a slop of green on the plate maybe two teaspoonsful ,my fish was hard around the edges where it was overcooked, the batter was also very patchy. Wasnt asked at anytime how our meal was. Ver carta

I appreciate their Large Breakfast is good value with eggs, bacon, sausages, baked beans, a mushroom, hash browns and toast for £6.40 but it needs to be hot, not warm! Initially had to return the meal as the egg yolks were hard, they were replaced, but the overall meal was certainly not hot. I’d eaten similar the day before and again the meal needed to be hotter. I can’t fault the refillable coffee at £1.50 though. I had eaten at this venue the two previous evenings with friends and enjoyed the meals. Again good value and can’t complain about the service which was generally cheerful and welcoming.

I went to this restaurant with my child and had a negative experience. Unfortunately, there was a man sitting at the table next to us who was using foul language and being discriminatory towards women at the bar. When I asked him to watch his language, he became abusive. I then approached a staff member, who did not take any action. When I requested to speak to the manager, I was accused of being rude. After finally speaking with someone, the manager was seen laughing with the man and his friends, which was unacceptable. This behavior made me and my child uncomfortable, so we decided to leave. The food was also cold and overcooked.

"The Stag Inn is a delightful looking pub overlooking the small green in the village of Barkston near Grantham. Internally the pub is clean and tidy with a range of two and four seater tables with New England shades of light blue on the painted table legs in the restaurant area. We didn’t venture into the pub side so can’t vouch for the decor in there. We arrived unannounced just after opening time of 12 and were offered a table with no difficulty. There was a menu of the usual offerings of fish and chips and a range of burgers together with roast salmon, chargrilled pork chop, a leek and cauliflower cheese pot pie, ham egg and chips and a vegetable lasagne amongst others. A specials chalkboard hung on the far wall and the crab and prawn salad with Mediterranean bread sounded so good we both opted for it. That was a mistake as we were to find out. The meals were reasonably quick to arrive and were served up in two large bowls with a dusting of paprika round the edges. What hit me immediately was the large flaccid green lettuce leaf draped over the edge of the bowl, together with a whole half-a-lemon that we each had. A small wedge would be perfect. The bread tasted sweet and was as far from the Mediterranean as it could possibly be apart from the occasional input of sundried tomato. What irked me most though was that the bread was delivered up pre-buttered with what looked like some bright yellow catering spread. A small ramakin of real butter between the two of us would work so much better. When asked if everything was okay I mentioned this and was told that chef would be informed. Having said all that the crab and prawn salad was full of flavour and sat on a nice mixed salad of red peppers, lettuce, red onion and cornichons. A word of advice to the wise….. don’t sit at the table near the restaurant counter as this is where the pub’s phone is located. On at least two occasions the phone was left to ring unanswered by the staff, presumably as they were busy elsewhere (the pub was by no means full) and was right behind my head! The volume of the ringer was high and it would have been a more pleasant experience for us if, firstly, it was answered and, secondly, the volume was turned down. On the plus side the staff were polite and helpful but the food not so great."
