"Amazing kind landlady took me in as was suffering shock after witnessing a traffic accident on the Dual carriageway. Max was well catered for on, rather than in his bed!! In front of the roaring fire; shoes and socks dry enough to put on by the time I left. Wonderful home cooked food , her own ham egg and chips, real comfort food. I must never go past at lunchtime otherwise I don't know what will happen to my waistline. A real country pub"

Great homemade food from a small menu. We had pork with sun-dried tomatoes and cheese, vegetarian lasagne with butternut squash and spinach and fishcakes and chips. Ver carta

I had a fantastic experience at this traditional pub. The large portions of food were delicious, and the beer selection was outstanding. I particularly enjoyed a beautiful pint of Tornado Bitter, which was expertly brewed. Overall, it’s an excellent place that perfectly captures the charm of an old-fashioned pub.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch with a group of 12, and it was fantastic! They offered both beef and turkey, along with a vegetarian option. Our four grandchildren, ranging from 1 to 8 years old, were well taken care of, and every dish we had was delicious. The dessert selection was great, and, as always, the hospitality from Ruth and her team was exceptional.

"We had been to this pub on several occasions over 3 months and were very pleased with the food and the attentive staff . On this particular day I ordered the Sunday roast beef but I couldn 't get my knife through the sinews of the meat and asked for a sharper knife but they didn 't have one. I left most of the meat because I couldn 't cut through it and when the waitress came to clear the table and she asked if we had enjoyed the meal I pointed out to her that the beef wasn 't very good as I couldn 't cut through it which meant I had eaten very little of it which she could see. The restaurant was very busy and I didn 't want to make any further complaint at the table but when I went to pay the lady manager asked me if I had enjoyed the meal and I told her about the beef to which she said the chef managed to tear it apart with his hands . She had an air of indifference and handed me the bill and said I had been the only person to have made a complaint. I enjoy my beef and would not have left it on the plate had it been palatable. She made me feel very uncomfortable, but begrudgingly said she would remove my meal from the bill. I told her I was upset with her attitude and because of her I would not be going to the 5 Dials again. They had every opportunity to ask if I would like something else or another piece of meat when I first said I couldn 't cut through it but they didn 't."
