"Second visit to just eat and this time went in bar rather than dining room. Rather stern Eastern European lady took our order, not really the welcome I was expecting after last visit but I guess we can’t always be cheery so can forgive that and rest of experience was ok. Didn’t really test the kitchen with 2 sandwiches ordered but nothing to complain about. It’s not cheap to eat anywhere on Alderburgh with some cafes charging nearly £4 for coffees so if you are going to pay that, might as well do it in the town’s finest hotel. Absolute no brainer when it’s warm enough for tea on the terrace. Want to go back for half board now we’re confident it’s a well run hotel, we normally self cater but figure the Wentworth is an unusually good hotel and need to go before we need the lift which it still hadn’t got mind you this doesn’t seem to keep clientele average age down which is ok with me!"

I enjoyed the excellent seafood at this hotel restaurant. I started with the delicious seafood bisque and followed it with the grilled fish as my main course.

Enjoy a delightful cup of tea surrounded by greenery at Tipperary Corner garden. This oasis near the sea offers excellent service and provides clean facilities for guests.

It was absolutely fantastic. The service was wonderful, the lunch was frankly one of the best meals I have had in some time. I loved the ability to have tea in the lounge, properly served with a pot of hot water too. Such a genteel atmosphere.

The Wentworth is delightful, albeit old-fashioned and probably the better for that. We have been here half a dozen times and always enjoyed the meal and the place. It is also quite refreshing to be at the lower end of the demographic every now and again Ver carta

Booked lunch for 12.30.arrived at 12 to have a drink in the lounge. Wonderful relaxed atmosphere, plenty of chairs to sit on. Called in for lunch at 12.30.service was prompt and pleasant .Plenty of choice on the menu !.Meal was full of flavour and good size portions, finished off with coffee in the lounge. This hotel is a credit to Aldeburgh being both traditional and efficient. Long may it continue. Well done to the staff and the owner.

We decided to treat ourselves and have lunch at The Wentworth. As it was Friday I chose the grilled plaice which was perfection, my husband was delighted with his cod goujons. Desserts as usual were delicious. The ambiance in the conservatory was just right and being able to look out across to the sea is very relaxing. Coffee in one of the lounges perfect end to lunch before a stroll by the sea. As often happens, before we left we were greeted by a neighbour who had also travelled to Aldeburgh for lunch.

Hotel has a great location facing the sea. Staff were nice and helpful. Our room on first sight looked a little small but after entry it seemed a lot bigger. Nice large and comfortable bed. Room nice and quiet. Excellent shower. Plenty of car parking. Nice small bar ,but plenty of rooms to sit and enjoy a drink or big seating area outside ti enjoy the sun. Also has a nice garden. Breakfast very good each day. Had a meal in the restaurant on the first night and was disappointed that at 7.30 pm no crab or scallops left (can understand at 9/9.30pm). However the food we had was excellent. Would definitely return. Ver carta

This hotel is a fantastic place to stay, with a traditional charm and beautiful views overlooking the sea. The rooms are modern and comfortable, with cozy beds. The breakfast is delicious and the dinner options are excellent with a good variety to choose from. It's a great place to gather with family and friends, and they also offer lovely afternoon teas. The staff are friendly and attentive, always ready to help. They have special deals for dinner, bed, and breakfast on certain occasions, which we have taken advantage of twice now. Staying for two nights is definitely worth it. We love that the hotel is still family-run, as they are clearly doing something right. We will definitely be retur...

A traditionally tasteful, quality seaside hotel with a relaxed atmosphere offering non-residents a great daytime food option. Don't be deceived: the welcoming terrace tranquil gardens are home to a lunchtime food offer that competes really well with the beach huts serving fresh seafood. From the cosy terrace bar, a quietly confident but welcoming team delivers a well priced lunch menu of freshly prepared food alongside a well-kept bar. Really enjoyed the fresh sougher-dough open sandwiches pizza) under the shelter of a parasol as we watched passers by the beach across the Road. All tasty all good value. It was good enough that my other half went for a long lunch while I popped to Orfordness...

"This wasn’t our first visit (the previous occasion was more positive than this) but this was really quite poor. Problem after problem, service was poor and just not very welcoming. Firstly, drinks weren’t available issues with draft, but then bottles weren’t available either. So there was a very limited selection of drinks on offer and the staff weren’t proactive in advising what was available. So it was request and receive a no! Secondly, the food was poor. The starters were shocking. Really quite bad. There was a bit of redemption from some of the mains, but we elected to not proceed with anything else as it wasn’t great. We had to wait ages for drinks and foods to arrive despite the fact that the restaurant was practically empty and many staff present. Frequently there were 3 staff at the back of the room standing about chatting, but they weren’t attentive to our needs. They didn’t check around the room to see if guests required additional drinks or require plates clearing. They didn’t check to see how the food was and when we complained regarding a starter they simply didn’t know how to handle it. When the draft beer came back on there was no proactive behaviour in returning to the table and letting us know so that more drinks could be ordered. Drinks were poured in wrong glasses, plates were cleared whilst people were still eating and then not cleared when they needed to be! Simply put the staff working had no idea on what table service should be perhaps they had received no training which is a major failing when the restaurant is part of a hotel. It was not welcoming. The restaurant was freezing cold. The service was really very poor and the food disappointing. They also don’t take dogs which in Aldeburgh is a bit weird. There is plenty of space and the tables are large so they would not be in the way. We won’t be returning."
