The Weyhill Fair - Carta

We played at this venue recently for the first time @laniiofficiall, and what a venue, firstly claire was an amazing host, kind and friendly, the setting of this pub is fantastic, Great food and drinks are lovely and cold, would recommend highly, friendly staff all round, give them a visit

We stopped off here on our way to Devon. Being just off the A303 The Weyhill Fair was ideally situated. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome before pitching up on the spacious level field at the rear of the pub. Claire and her staff were attentive and friendly as we enjoyed a nice meal and a few drinks before turning in for the night. For a £10 fee, what’s not to like?

I hosted the reception for my mother's funeral at this restaurant and everything went smoothly. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate our needs and the buffet was delicious. The atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming. It's rare to find traditional country pubs these days, but this one has managed to maintain its charm. Pre- cooked and frozen in portions, nothing was fresh, the meat was obviously pre-portioned from the freezer, the veg heated in the microwave, Yorkshire pudding burnt looked like it had been grilled, water is thinker and tastier than the gravy, really poor food, the beef was tough and pretty tasteless the pork edible but came warmed up from the freezer, the pork crackling was reheated under the grill which arrived grilled burnt, none of the food came close to enjoyable.

We visited The Weyhill Fair for a family gathering and took advantage of the caravan stop-over options available. We stayed for nine nights and had a wonderful time. The staff were all extremely friendly and the locals made us feel welcome, including us in their conversations. The Sunday lunch and the specials on the menu were delicious and beautifully presented. We will definitely return to The Weyhill Fair, even if our reasons for visiting change. Thank you to Claire, the staff, and the regular patrons for a fantastic experience.

We visited this restaurant for lunch during the week with a group of three. We had made a reservation in advance. However, when we arrived, there was no one behind the bar or in the restaurant. There were tables of 8 and 6 already waiting for their food. After some time, someone finally arrived behind the bar and we ordered our drinks before sitting down. We chose the scampi and chips from the menu. After an hour, the table of 8 had received their food, but the table of 6 and our group were still waiting. Last minute, last resort, emergency booking for ten people, to have dinner after our other booking was suddenly cancelled due to lack of kitchen staff. Would have quite gladly agreed to booking a field and ordering pigs swill because we were so desperate to find anything to accommodate us. Our last minute hitch however turned out to be a godsend or we would never have found this hidden secret of a place. Despite the very short notice everyone’s meal was cooked to perfection, we all got what we wanted, food came out quickly, the portions were hearty and I’ve never eaten a tastier steak burger. Drove past this place many times and thought it would be a lovely place to have a Sunday roast with family. Wasn’t busy and the only people sitting down for dinner. Two bowls of vegetable for sharing came out first. They consisted of bland watery white cabbage, carrots and Broccoli. They sat there for a good 8 minutes getting cold before 2 beef mains came out, followed 1 minute later by the other 2. (Yes I timed it because the wait whilst everything was getting cold was ridiculous. The beef was 3 slabs of grey meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puds, These we’re all frozen and heated in a microwave. I know the difference and no real cooking was involved in this process. Thought we’d pop in here for on a Friday evening with the family- as it had always looked nice. However, when we walked in everyone stopped talking, as in it went deadly silent and turned to stare at us it was extremely awkward! when we asked if they were doing the food the lady behind the bar said they were short staffed and was unsure as the chef hadn’t yet turned up and wasn’t sure when he was going to! We said it’s fine we will go elsewhere and as walking out another lady I presume the owner began shouting ‘come back, come back, we can do food for you’. We didn’t want to stay but felt like we had to then as was again very awkward for us everyone around the bar was still staring and quiet... Ver carta
