"First visit since the refurb and it is much more inviting and modern. The menu is quite pricey but for an evening out with friends we were more than happy to pay. The evening didn’t get off to a great start due to the service. The waitress didn’t know if they served Malbec and so we asked her if she would mind asking twice she returned having not found out and we don’t actually think she knew what we were on about! She then brought a bottle of wine to the table and when we asked for glasses for the second time she said we would have to wait a while as they are all in the dishwasher! Never heard such a thing and we persuaded her to bring any glasses so that we could at least start a drink. The food was very nice and enjoyed by all. The scotch eggs were particularly good but the chips were quite fluffy being the thrice cooked variety! Overall, service let our experience down. We felt rushed to order, having to ask for more time four or five times over the ordering or drinks, food and desserts. It would be better if one person serves a table and then one wouldn’t feel so hassled by multiple servers coming to the table to ask the same question. Definitely some training needs to happen for the service to match the level of experience the pub is trying to achieve."

Visited on a busy Thursday night. The waiting staff were excellent. A really good choice on the menu. The food was really imaginative and well prepared. We both really enjoyed the 3 courses and the wine list gave us a good selection to go with our food. A lovely atmosphere and some brilliant food. Ver carta

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We stumbled upon it during a leisurely drive back from Tattershall Castle to Northamptonshire. The menu was excellent, and our starters and main courses were served piping hot. The desserts were amazing! The service was attentive and confident, without being intrusive, just as a previous reviewer mentioned. We felt that we received exceptional value for our experience. We will definitely be visiting again.

Really enjoyed our two night stay here. Our room was lovely and the whole place was exceptionally clean. The staff were helpful and incredibly friendly and obliging. Thank you so much Sue and Leanne. We would also like to say a big thank you to Matt…with whom we spent a very entertaining evening whisky tasting and learning of interesting local events to visit in the future. Sadly the kitchen was closed as it was going through a deep clean so we are unable to give our opinion on dinner. However, breakfast was provided and that was a varied menu and very enjoyable .

Had high hopes having heard about this place but was disappointed to say the least. The staff were lovely very friendly and accommodating but the food was not as expected. Very expensive for what you actually get. Also you have to order vegetables as extra which was surprising veg are so cheap it would cost very little and would add colour to the dishes. I had fish which was bland and unseasoned and my partner had a lamb chop. One tiny chewy lamb chop for £24! I know eating out is a luxury and you expect to pay for that but that is ridiculous. Very disappointing visit. Ver carta

WOW ! We've driven past here literally hundreds of times and decided in the spur of the moment to call in for lunch. We were welcomed in by the front of house team and made to feel at home. We chose from the small plates menu when I had the soup (roasted tomato and red pepper) and the better half had the potato's with summer truffle sauce. Including two drinks the bill came to £25 so not the cheapest but the food was beautifully prepared and presented. We will definitely be back for more ! Apparently it's a new kitchen team who've been for a few days. All I can say is that they are very talented and I look forward to working my way through the menus.

Visited for lunch today and it was lovely to see such an effort made in the decor lovely bar area and dining room with log burner roaring (just what we needed in this weather! and white linen napkins set the standard and expectations. The wine was served in a beautifully thin glass and with both Neck Oil and Landlord on tap I was very happy. The menu looks great not a hint of Brakes Brothers and plenty of ‘on trend’ options (Nduja features twice we ordered fish and chips and the pie of the day (Lamb and Wild Mushroom both of which were excellent. The pie came with perfectly seasoned green beans and a hearty side of mash and Lamb gravy. Interestingly, no salt or pepper on the tables, an exper...

"We choose this spot because of the many positive reviews. I guess we turned up on a bad day!I have only been introduced to coffee a few years ago despite being in my mid 50’s and really don’t like coffee unless a well made flat white. I travel the world frequently for work and always ask the same question, can you make a flat white? The reason being unless the person is a passionate barista I rarely get a coffee I enjoy. This question clearly upset the lady serving us who ‘rolled her eyes out loud’ by the question and then represented the request to her colleague in a manner that was more like ‘we have a pain in the arse’ than ‘can we make this gentleman a nice coffee. (Yes we overheard).Everything was fine except the flat white was a milky coffee and not something I enjoyed. Not a problem though. I never said a word but when asked at the counter how things were I thought I would say everything was good except the ‘flat white’. Immediately confronted by both in very hostile way was very surprising as I was only answering a question I thought they were interested in hearing I placed a review on their website and their response is a really good example of their attitude. Instead of focusing on service recovery they wanted to blame me and absolve themselves of any responsibility.I of course mentioned this to a few people in Sleaford and surprise surprise was met with very similar responses, ‘we don’t go there anymore as the staff can be very rude’ Looking forward to seeing how the proprietors decide to respond to this one."
