Only 2 choices for each course lunch today but standard of cooking excellent. I'm sure the new owners will get the seal of approval when their reputation is established in the area. We hope to return.

The food here is absolutely incredible, elevated to a whole new level. You can truly see and taste the passion that Tom has poured into his exquisite dishes. His partner Nancy is always smiling and is very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. It's simply amazing!

Wonderful pub recently taken over by Tom and Nancy and they are doing a marvellous job. I recently celebrated my birthday at the windmill with a large group and everything was handled perfectly. Food is creative, delicious and well priced. The millers room was perfect for group private dining. All round we had such a lovely experience. Thank you Nancy and Tom I wish you the best with your venture. We will certainly be back!

Exceptional! The set menu and tasting menu are of the highest quality. Every component of each dish is thoughtfully arranged on the plate. The flavors are delicate yet rich. This is Michelin-level dining, and it's evident that great care is taken in sourcing top-notch ingredients. The service is personal and attentive without being intrusive. Truly a hidden gem, and the set lunch menu is an incredible value for the quality provided. An outstanding restaurant overall.

Wow, what can I say? There are very few high quality, dog friendly restaurants but this one made our little girl so welcome (even given special treats! . We decided to have the Tasting Menu and I can honestly say there was nothing I didn’t like! Tom is an exceptional chef, and Nancy an amazing front of house being attentive to all the customers. A most amazing birthday meal in a lovely intimate setting. We booked the Thursday 5 course tasting menu. We were net by Nancy, who is the partner of Tom the most brilliant chef. She, single handedly ran front of house. She was warm and efficient. The food and wine pairing was seriously good. Attention to detail is one of the keys in good dining and that along with great ingredients and superb skill in the cooking department, provided a memorable evening. Well done Nancy and Tom. We recently spent a night in the Old Windmill room and had a wonderful experience. Nancy expertly managed our last-minute booking and was a delight throughout our stay. The service was impeccable, as she helped us arrange taxis, drinks, and breakfast times for the next morning. The room was beautifully decorated, featuring many exquisite touches, including a stunning roll-top bath. We enjoyed tea, a Nespresso coffee machine, and lovely beauty products during our stay. Breakfast was a true highlight, with fresh fruits and berries, along with an excellent full English. We're already looking forward to our next visit to try the amazing-sounding roast dinner!

Passed through on my walk of the Essex Way in the May day bank holiday weekend. The previous 2 pubs I had tried were closed and I was hankering for an evening meal and a rest so I came to the Windmill not realising how fancy it was! Despite that and my less than ideal attire, the waitress was as an an angel to a weary traveller and found me a seat. After a bread basket with a deliciously salty spread, a cauliflower risotto and of course a chilly pint, a man on the edge walked another few miles or so into the night and slept happily in the woods with a smile on his face. I will have to return one day the classiness of the place mixed with its quaint but very highly refined pub vibe is exquisi... Ver carta
