"After a hectic day, I wasn't in the mood to cook, so I managed to convince my companions to go out for dinner—and I'm so glad I did! The reservation process was easy, and the meal we had was excellent. However, I didn't realize that the price on Sundays is £11.99 instead of £7.99 during the week. It was worth the money, but next time I'll make sure to book for a weekday. Although we had to wait a bit since it was really busy, the staff worked incredibly hard. Overall, the dinner was well worth the wait!"

There aren't many dessert options available. We used to have a lot more variety, but unfortunately, it seems to have declined recently.

The staff were very obliging. Meal was OK but could have been hotter. My grandsons chicken was dry, it was the end piece. Other than that I will return.

Lovely meal with helpful and considerate staff in a lovely family pub. Great food, hot and fresh, great choice of veggies. Plenty of parking, always a bonus.

We always enjoy dining here, but we noticed that the waiting staff was somewhat lacking. Having a few more employees could have made our visit even more enjoyable.

Love a Toby Carvery and tonight everything was sooo fresh but alittle cold I’m afraid , always have to be careful with a Carvery getting cold and tonight it was cold

Great food but disappointing Yorkshire puds! So flat and small compared to usual quality! Also not a big choice of vegetables. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere in restaurant

The Restaurant was quite for once which was nice. The pigs in blankets are a bit of a con and pricey. Standards were good as per usual apart from some of the sides. The roast potatoes were past their best and the stuffing looked like it was half over half under done .

I 've been to the Toby Carvery dozens of times and in general the food and service are good. My personal preference when choosing from the carvery is to have one piece of beef cut like a thin steak instead of having my plate covered in small thinly sliced meat. I always ask the carver to cut it this way and he says certainly and then proceeds to ignore me entirely.

This restaurant is not suitable for starters on a Sunday. After waiting 45 minutes for our appetizers, we decided to cancel them because the manager admitted they hadn't even begun to prepare them. We then joined a long line for our main meals, which were, at best, average. It was quite disappointing, especially compared to the Bedford Toby, which offers a much better experience. I would recommend avoiding this place on Sundays.

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
