Trattoria Alla Madonna

This restaurant was recommended by our tour guide and it was fantastic. Great service, beautiful day to sit outside and the most savory squid ink pasta I've had! Cuddlefish was new to me and it did not disappoint. Hubby had the seafood risotto and was quite pleased as well. Definitely put this meal at the top of my list for food in Venice!

This was not good but probably because I don't like all those fish dishes so I ordered lasagn. How can an Italian restaurant make the worst lasagna I've ever tried to eat. Tried to eat, but couldn't the noodles were like mush and the dish had practically no meat and was tasteless. I also got artichoke hearts and they were so overcooked and flavorless as well. Ugh...I'm sure it's great for people who like their specialties but not for me.

Fantastic service. Classic Venetian ambiance. The food highlight was the artichoke heart served as medallions in seasoned olive oil. It was a treat. Pulled crab meat was nicely served in shell good quality. The rest of the food was mediocre. The veal cutlet with butter was so dry we doused it with olive oil. The fried calamari was overcooked quite a bit. Seafood risotto was bland. We were disappointed because several people recommended the place. I would rank it as a tourist trap.

Everything was fresh delicious service was wonderful. Restaurant was recommended by our local tour guide it was a gem! Appetizers of fresh crab served in a shell shrimp were very, very fresh delicious! Our waiter brought us both a complimentary small plate of seafood risotto as well as a Prosecco when they did not have the cocktail I requested. He graciously deboned my husband's sole. My homemade gnocchi was excellent my son completely enjoyed the lightly fried shrimp. Would definitely go back definitely recommend.

Easily my favorite restaurant in Venice, Trattoria Alla Madonna's simple, modest interior hides the ancient city's best kitchen. We asked our waiter to navigate the best things on the menu without reservation. What followed was a parade of amazing local dishes. The caprese salad featured the freshest mozzarella in Italy and the gnocchi was the best I have ever had. Must haves also include the melt-in-your-mouth risotto, fresh crab served in the shell, incredibly fresh veal, and spaghetti with chopped clams. I wished aloud for a second stomach so that I could continue the meal.

Just finished our meal at trattoria Madonna. I think our waiter was the rudest, most chauvinistic waiter we 've ever met! He was condescending and impatient from beginning to end . Maybe it has something to do with us being Americans, because all the Italians around us were treated very kindly. When I left, I told him he was very rude to us and he said thank you. Wow-Nice. Steer clear of the older gentleman who is heavyset and balding. Service was included with the meal and he said it went to the owner not him. He kept on bullying us to pay another tip. What a jerk. Tourists beware!

When traveling, you might become more selective about meals. We relied heavily on reviews to know what to eat and where to find it. Make every bite count! We were always on the go and often ordered takeaway. With that said, we only tried the tiramisu and did not dine-in. While waiting, however, we got a glimpse of the interior and it was relatively classy! There's a seafood display near the entrance and we were greeted by uniformed staff. They handed me a lovely piece of tiramisu and I was on my merry way. It was rich and scrumptious to the final crumb. Of all the tiramisus Italy has to offer, I'm content to have tried this one!

During my trip to Venice, an Italian friend recommended another restaurant but we could not get in, so we asked the people at that restaurant to recommend another place that maybe could accommodate us with no reservation. They recommended Trattoria alla Madonna and we were not disappointed. The food is so fresh! We had the crab in its shell and it was heavenly. You can taste the olive oil, the crab and the lemon in perfect balance. I ordered the seafood pasta which had just the right amount of creaminess and it had a generous portion of seafood... to die for! The fish was good and the fish soup was absolutely amazing! I am pretty sure everything is delicious. The ambiance is very typical Ita...

We just paid cold hospital cafeteria seafood for 160 euros. This restaurant supposedly is a got-to spot for locals but unfortunately the restaurant's meal was very disappointing. It was precooked and the cook did not bother to reheated the meals. We ordered fish soup and mussels as a starter. Upon a bite it was cold and tasted like it had been sitting on a counter for a long time. It got me thinking and I was keeping eating iand I was getting unhappy with the situation, so we asked the waiter to heat up the fish soup and he did. Next course was the special fish stew that the waiter recommended, so we went with his recommendation. The fish stew was served AGAIN, COLD. sigh... the waiter told...
