"As regulars at this restaurant (in fact it is one of our favourites) our experience this evening was unfortunately disappointing .. I appreciate it was very busy (as it usually is) but the bad start was when I asked to sample the house white wine...(as I would normally order red) and the waitress looked quite shocked that someone would ask to sample wine .. my husbands starter had to be returned as the bruschetta was as hard as a brick and the main which was a chicken pasta dish had only a teaspoon of chicken .. the manager replaced this with no questions asked as he saw the small amount of chicken and the replacement was delicious but there was no offer of complimentary dessert, coffee or limoncello or even an apology for our unfortunate experience .. we did leave a tip as the service was very efficient but unfortunately the food spoilt our evening."

Very busy Italian restaurant which probably seats around 300. Food and service were both good and there's an extensive menu. Good walk out of centre around 20-30 mins. Worth a visit!

I visit this restaurant regularly. Absolutely gorgeous Italian food. The restaurant decor is amazing! Very rustic. Always so busy and a lovely atmosphere. Staff are welcoming. Starters, pizzas, pastas, sides and desserts and are all top notch.

I'm disabled. Immediately as we first checked I've ever been awarded the female maitre d. perfect level of the unpatronizing approach. the personal is incredibly relieved. large group all absolutely beautiful meals. will be back, good to visit.

Always very busy. I don’t believe it does the best pizza in town, far from it. The atmosphere is definitely a 5. The staff are very friendly. My wife ordered the carbonara and it tasted of cream and pasta and nothing else. I believe it...does well on reputation for being atmospheric and not their food.

Wedding anniversary/Family night. Fantastic food and staff so friendly. Restaurant very busy but the manger more than happy to make room for a pram and extremely welcoming. Menu selection was superb and we were looked after by Vanessa who treated us like family. Could not...have been nicer to my baby daughter and wife. Recommended the fish specials and did not disappoint, delicious. We are looking forward to next visit already. Thanks again Vanessa

we came to dinner before a concert in the city had booked nothing and thought it was quiet at 6:30 o'clock small queue to get into the building I thought was strange. in the inner we sat almost quiet and friendly. the place was full of happy people who enjoy the great mood. the service was excellent and friendly and the food and wine was excellent. bill was also very reasonable. very shocked that this place is placed so low in the reviews lol glad to say that this place is not changed since we at uni here 20 strange years ago. villa italia is a date night favorite for my partner and I, but we brought our 5 year old daughter tonight for the first time. She was so nicely greeted by the employees, given crayons and a color leaf without asking us. service was efficient and attentive, eating excellent as always! I love the atmosphere and how really nice the personal is. they would recommend the linguine meatballs and profiteroles! we had no wine with dinner, but saw a nice choice on the menu. toilets spotless, which is rare for such a busy big restaurant imo. children's menu cheap and included drink and tasty ice in a high glass much to my daughter's joy! really can't blame this place and that's why we're going back!

I have been going to villa Italia since I was a child. After our visit this evening on sat 23rd April we are sad to say we will not be back. The service was horrendous. The waitress was extremely unwelcoming, rude and completely disinterested in...communicating with us. Starters arrived with our mains, we were not asked if we wanted dessert, we were unable to order drinks for long periods of time and had to go and ask for the bill after being ignored for 20 mins. We then had to go and ask for a card machine after being ignored once again. While we understand that it was busy, the staff were actively ignoring us for most of the evening. The food was below average and lacked any real seasoning...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
