"Vin & MaréeI discovered this restaurant the other day while out on a walk around the area. It is situated on the Avenue Maine, just a block or two from my hotel. I stopped to look at the menu as I walked by and saw the seafood focus and vowed to return. That I did tonight and I wasn't the least bit disappointed. I was seated at a table for one that looked out onto the busy avenue. A flip-chart type stand was wheeled over to my table with the daily offerings on it. After a quick scan, I had made my choices. The service was good, almost too good. I ordered an aperitif and shortly after it arrived, so did my starter and the glass of wine. The headwaiter saw this and asked if I wanted the soup taken away as I had not had time to finish the aperitif. I said it was fine, partly because I had been busy finishing an email (yes, how rude) and partly because I find an Americano cocktail to be refreshing at any point in the meal. The soupe poissons that arrived was absolutely delicious. With every sip, I was busy trying to analysze the flavours. Was that a hint of cinnamon I detected? Filling as well as tasty. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that about a dozen mussels also accompanied my order - something like chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. These were drizzled in a tarragon flavoured fresh cream.I should admit upfront that I am one of those who peruses the wine list before deciding what to order for dinner. My eye spotted four possibilities, all of them among the most expensive wines by the glass, a grand cru Alsacian Gewurz, a Pouilly Fume, a Sancerre and a Chablis. I think all would have proved interesting matches for my St Jaques scallops main course. I was tempted to order all of them and conduct my own research, but decided to ask for my servers advice. She recommended the Sancerre and I couldn't disagree, it was very good. The scallops were done to perfection and served with a few decorative vegetables and a side of the most delicious, rich mashed potatoes I have ever had. All in all an excellent dinner, there was no way I had room to indulge in a dessert as tempting as they were. Do I recommend this restaurant? If you enjoy seafood - mussels, oysters, etc., yes, you really should go and check it out. That said, based on my small sampling, it would be hard to have a bad meal here. They seem to range from very good to excellent and outstanding. Bon appetite!"

I already put a review on TA, but I was asked to complete my draft. When I clicked on the link, everyhting was blank. I want to recommend this restaurant very highly, but am not ready to start all over again on another review if TA lost my first one. Just take my word - try it and you won't be disappointed.

Always fresh food. Pleasant place. Obliging and very kind staff. This restaurant is specialized in sea foods, and fishes. Always fresh, well prepared, and a dessert speciality the famous Baba-au-rhum with crème Chantilly. Incredible !For couples, family, business, lunch or dinner. Very close to Montparnasse and cinemas. A great place.

If anything this place seemed to be improved at a busy time of the year! We were seated right up front by the street, the menu of 49 euros was superb, and the oysters exquisite! My only gripe was the lack of availability of certain products, such as some fish and several wines. That said, lovely service from a charming young lady and swift arrival of food (their seafood is mangificent) made up for most.

This is one of four in a Vin et Marie franchise and should not be confused with Vin & Maree on Rue St Honore ( which is absolutely fantastic). We arrived for lunch and were promptly seated, then shown a blackboard of the menu. My companion chose the herrings and I had the fish soup, both were ok. For our main courses we had the sea bass, which again was presented well, but without being anything more than average. The staff were not overly welcoming.

First time in this wonderful city and staying in the Montparnasse area and looking for a nice quite dinner. Tour de France has just finished and was concerned of over packed restaurants with the crowds around. We stumbled on this place. They had menus in English which was great as I only know half a dozen worlds of French. The service was excellent and very helpful with staff knowing a bit of English. The food was even better. I would fully recommend this restaurant to any body in the area looking for a great dining experience.

Vin and Maree is a very typically French restaurant specializing in sea food. It has a very friendly atmosphere and somewhat old fashion décor. My party of 3 were offered complimentary scallops to set with and then we all had the sole meuniere (off the bone) which was light, very fresh and grilled to perfection.Afterwards I can recommend the Souffle Grand Marnier for a wonderful light and fluffy but totally satisfying dessert.Vin and Maree have several branches and the one on Rue St. Honore is a wonderful location for several tourist attractionsDefinitely worth the visit

Four of us enjoyed dinner at Vin et Maree Montparnasse this evening. The amuse bouche of mussels In a light wine cream sauce set a positive tone. My wife and I shared the fried smelts while our friends had fish soup. As entrees two of us has the sea scallops, one sea bass and one hake. The sea bass was enough for two to share. Unfortunately my wife's scallops were served cold. They were reheated but never came out hot. The good news was that they were very tasty even warm. With two bottles of wine dinner was 180 Euros, quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Had the scallops been served hot the restaurant would rate four stars, not the three I gave it.

It all started with the horrible service. A waitress, an older woman of Asian appearance , dabble our expensive wine in glasses as pigs, quickly, and spraying some on a white tablecloth. When it was time to update the wine, she repeated the same, while pouring wine on the tablecloth even more, looking as if everything had to be that way. Then they brought the oysters which were many fragments of shells, and which were already dead, of course could not be a speech about the reaction of DEAD oysters with lemon juice...the lemon was old, dry and even a little brown...and the crab...which was brutally crushed, with ugly crooked bones... On a hot dish, nothing to say, ordinary fish, the level of...

Svetlana, my siberian friend, was craving for oysters, and fresh fish.... the first idea that came to my mind was this very reasonably priced seafood restaurant ( especially if you reserve via LaFourchette, for 20 to 40 % discount !!! ). Comfortable tables, nice lighting ambiance, not too noisy, .The service is efficient, and the lady in charge is of excellent advice for the wines...The oysters were superb, especially the Irish sweet salty savoury whitish meaty specimen. But also the Gilardeau N.2, and the fines N.3I could not resist the crispy Croustillants de gambas which quickly disappeared...Svetlana went for a whole grilled seabass with pesto dressing, perfectly cooked.the 2 other guest...
