"Having been for an appointment earlier, I walked into Midsummer Place and needed a sit down and some sort of refreshment. What a brilliant combination; coffee, food and books! My ideal place. Just love browsing the books and then a relaxing break. The staff are friendly and actually ENGAGE with their customers! What is going on? Some places have staff that just do not really care, or, at least, that's the impression, and certainly don't give you eye contact or bother to even speak. Is it the internet and social media generation which is responsible for the lack of conversation? Never mind. Beware, retail outlets, food, clothing, books or whatever. If you want to retain customers or increase sales, just put the human touch back into your business and make it a unique experience, and things should improve. I had a really nicely made and presented ham and cheese toasty, arriving at my table really swiftly after it was ordered, a super-special latte, one of the best I've had in quite a while, as well as an almond croissant, one that didn't dissolve in a shower of crumbs when I bit into it which usually happens with these usually delicious food items. Pleasant surroundings, clean and tidy, the tables are cleared regularly and NO LOUD intrusive music blaring out and killing conversation and totally unnecessary in my opinion. I shall definitely be returning. Just try to keep me away!"

Superbly made coffee, lovely cakes, and you can sit and browse books too. The tables are cleaned as soon as someone finishes, so there are always clean, clear tables to use. Very friendly staff.

This cafe has a pleasant designer-minimalist vibe. It used to be a COSTA cafe located upstairs in the Waterstone's bookshop, surrounded by nice books. The new cafe is now downstairs at the entrance of the bookshop, where most of the books (though not all) are still located upstairs. It seems that fewer people are going upstairs now.

The coffee at this restaurant is excellent, and I particularly enjoyed their tea leaf blend. The staff members were very friendly and accommodating. Although I did not try any food, the cakes on display looked delicious. I do miss the coffee shop being located upstairs, but I must say that the staff and coffee quality have improved significantly. Overall, it's a nice place to relax and enjoy a drink.

I called in today on my own for a quick coffee break.I usually go with a friend. The cafe was busy but the friendly staff always acknowledge their customers with a smile. They also are very good at offering help to carry your tray. My Latte was made with care and a perfect pattern on top. I love the Christmas flavours but confess the amoretto one is my favourite and it goes perfectly with an Almond crossant or biscotti. This is our go to cafe in Milton Keynes shopping centre.

I recently met with two colleagues for a business lunch at this restaurant. Two of us ordered the mixed grill, which we found to be excellent value for the money. The prices for beer were also reasonable. The ambiance was different from the typical Weatherspoons establishments, and we felt very safe in the environment. Unlike some places where you have to be extra cautious with your belongings, this restaurant felt like a completely different and secure place. Overall, we were impressed and would recommend it for a visit.

Situated in Watersons bookshop this coffee shop has a good range of snack foods and soups. Service is quick and hot foods will be brought to your table. I had Lentil soup which was delicious and had a nice peppery kick which was unexpected truly satisfying. Served with two slices of a lovely brown bread and butter it was a meal in itself. Add a nice cup of latte and a packet of hand cooked crisps just set me up for a afternoon Christmas shopping. Nice place which was Covid secure. Whenever a table was vacated, a sign was placed effectively putting it out of service till fully sanitized. Wish others would follow suit.

I knew Waterstones had a Costa but hadn't been in for some time so was surprised to find a small coffee shop just near the entrance. They had a small menu of snacks, pre prepared rolls, the usual tea/coffee offerings, and a very nice selection of cakes and cookies at a reasonable price. The assistant behind the counter was friendly and very helpful and served us promptly. I had tea, a toasted cheese and marmite bap (you either love it or hate it... and I love it! : and a caramel cookie, all of which were very nice, and my daughter had a cappuccino and lovely slice of lemon cake which she said she enjoyed. It's a small cafe tucked in the corner to the left as you enter the shop but is very ni...

Buying book for a present and decided to try the coffee shop as we had not been before. Are we glad we did! The staff were polite, helpful and courteous. They also all wore masks which we very very much appreciated! The whole place was just, comfortable in that, it was all kept very clean and tidy. I have OCD and in this place, I did not have trouble finding a place to sit. Comfortable Air-Conditioning. When you take your mask off, you get that lovely smell of books as a bonus. The coffee, not just pretty to look at but also lovely to drink. We had a cappuccino and a flat white. Cannot comment on the cake though as we have not tried that. Maybe next time when we back. The only thing was I di...

"Absolutely average restaurant. Dirty bamboo table mats and super dirty windows, kinda sad to look out of them. Impatient service, who under 6 minutes 5 times came back trying to pressure me to take my order. I was confused as I thought it was a restaurant not a fast food place. Silly me who used to live in Japan though the menu is just like there, with pictures. How wrong I was...So getting my phone to have a look at their website, what kinda different that in the restaurant menu card one. When I tried to ask for reconditions, I didn't get any, she just straight away took the last what I asked. The steamed algae was very nice, but my noodle soup was a big surprise, as I have no idea what's roasted (burned) pepper and massive chunks of onions doing there? It's supposed to be sea food, but instead just some burned vegetables scared with frozen octopus, mussels and mini calamari rings poured up with chicken broth. So yeah, kinda disappointing. Drink wise I asked the waitress do they have any tonic water as it isn't listed on the menu card, she looked at me like I am a weirdo. I asked for Roku gin what is my favourite. On the receipt was counted as an extra pound because Japanese. Lol, no comment. Getting the drinks, from other restaurants you get the spirit on the rocks in the glass and front of you they pouring the mixer drink from the mini bottle. Here not, just straight away together as it comes. Oh and don't bother asking without lemon, because you are getting one either way. So Akasaka restaurant did not become my favourite one. Once and last. Easily can be forgotten. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4"
