"Visited for lunch with family. Waited a while before any staff arrived. Young girl didn't seem to know what she was supposed to do. Good selection on menu but portions were very small for price and we ordered from main menu. Cajun chicken only had a very small piece of chicken on it with a little rice and a tiny tub of salad. Fries were too hard to eat as overcooked. Haggis, heaps and patties although tasted ok were poorly presented, was like someone had built sandcastles with a small pot of haggis, heaps and tatties and just plonked them on the plate. Servers had no concept of space at all when serving and I constantly had plates and behinds in my face when serving our table and the one next to us. Pavlova was rock hard so could only eat a tiny bit of it. We also waited ages for the bill once finished We came away still feeling hungry. Shame as could have been so much better, won't be back anytime soon as very expensive for what we got."

Lovely village pub with great menu to cater for all. Seated in the bar area it was clean and welcoming. Great country music playing in the background. Service was polite and professional. The food was pipping hot and fresh. As always a lovely lunch

Have visited on a number of occasions and food was great. Husband always Cullen skink soup. Today it was watery, hardly any potatoes or smoked haddock in it. £7.95 a bowl. Sorry had to complain. I had burger with came with French fries. Felt I was at Burger King. Sorry won’t be back in a hurry x

Another great lunch in this beautiful Gastro Pub. Always has great Scottish fayre. My wife had Skullen Skink followed by smoked haddock I had liver and onions followed by apple crumble and custard. Great warmers on such a cold and drech day. My friend sausage and onion followed by apple crumble and custard. My cousin had a Haggis, needs and tatties with a cream sauce followed by sticky toffee pudding.

A Friday supper after a long absence in this cosy inn, having booked a hour before. Prawn cocktail followed by Gammon steak chips which were very tasty. The others had soup chicken dishes which was enjoyable. The meals arrived in a timely manner with just one server. The overflow dining room was closed on this occasion. The village is getting busier with parked cars etc. Arriving/departing via the M77 is another option.

Recently went to a pre birthday celebration lunch at The Wheatsheaf Inn Symington. What a great experience we had right from the start. We were welcomed at the start and shown to our table. There was a wide choice of items on the menu to suit all of our needs as on this occasion there were some of us in the party with delicate palates. While the décor of the place might be old world the food was not. It was served hot and the quality was first class. Would we return ? Most defiantly !

What a hidden gem! We decided to go here for a birthday meal but was hesitant with the mixed reviews......glad we went! Staff are welcoming and it was a nice and cosy liitle restaurant with a pub next door. Food didnt take long to arrive and was amazing. Tasted brilliant, even the children manage to eat it all. My partner had steak pie (portion was big, steak was to die for i was told) 1st child had a burger fries and 2nd had lasagne (they loved it), i had haggis neeps tatties with the most tasteful whisky cream sauce iv ever tasted. I loved it that much i even treated myself to a dessert (i never have desserts) but the millionaire shortbread cheesecake was amazing. If never been here, go gi...

Have eaten here before on one occasion. Tried to ring for three days before hand to book phone never answered. No email or other way to be in touch. Group of friends meeting up so arrived at 6pm for a table of six. Two cars in the car park Met by disgruntled rude unhelpful unwelcoming chap. No tables available Given this close to Christmas it’s great they’re busy but to be turned away in such a rude manner, when we could see all the empty tables, was a total let down.Turned on his heel with a shrug no apology nothing and left us standing there. Called another local restaurant superb service, fab food, great atmosphere and much busier than this place. Sadly he needs a customer service update...

We hadn’t been to the Wheatsheaf for years but were looking for somewhere for a large family gathering for an anniversary. We were allocated the private room at the back of the restaurant. The staff were friendly, the room was a little chilly but once we were all in there it was soon toasty. The service was decent enough, although my meal took that long some of our party had almost finished theirs. A few of the meals were wrong but in all fairness the food was good. My MIL has booked for us to go back again in a few weeks for a big birthday, except this time she’s been told they can’t guarantee the private room we had before (despite there being no other big bookings at the time of her makin...

"My husband and I bought an itison voucher for brunch for £29 for The Sorn Inn. When we arrived at 12 we were the only ones in the restaurant. I ordered the eggs benedict with the sauce on the side and my husband ordered the full scottish breakfast. We had to wait a while, I'm unsure how long exactly but we weren't too bothered as we thought our food was all being made fresh. When it arrived, my husband's food look really nice. No complaints there. My eggs benedict consisted of 2 cold toasted slices of bloomer bread. One with 1 slice of fried bacon on it and the other with 1 poached egg. The hollandaise sauce was in fact mayonnaise. I called the waitress over and told her this wasn't what I ordered. I ordered eggs benedict which was stated on the menu as a toasted muffin, ham and poached eggs with a hollandaise sauce. She was lovely. She apologised and said she would take it back to the kitchen. After she done this she returned and said that there was no muffins left and would I like to order something else. By this point my husband was halfway through his breakfast. Why was eggs benedict even on the menu if there were no muffins?? I told the waitress I would have the full scottish breakfast then. By this time there was 2 other tables filled and the eggs benedictwas still being sold. Our waitress brought me over another coffee while I waited on my breakfast. It wasn't quick. It was alright when it arrived. But not great. The toast was still cold and there wasn't any butter. Zoe our waitress was wonderful. Whatever the owners are paying her, just isn't enough. She was apologetic, attentive and calm under pressure. Why didn't the chef tell Zoe to take the eggs benedict off the menu as it was still being sold when we were leaving. What kind of chef thinks cold toast, bacon and mayo is eggs benedict? We have been to the Sorn Inn on numerous times before and the food has been outstanding. Such a shame as we do like to eat out and support local and smaller restaurants but we won't be hurrying back."
