White Hart Islay - Carta

The dining room overlooks the lovely bay, prompt, polite service, and good food at very reasonable prices.

Service could have been better. Not much to choose from the menu. Priced a little much for the food selection offered.

A friend and I went to The White Hart to eat and enjoy some beer. The food we chose was delicious and the beer was excellent. If we find ourselves dining in Port Ellen again, we will definitely consider returning to The White Hart. Ver carta

After taking the evening ferry from Kennacraig following a long day of cycling, we were warmly welcomed by the White Hart. They offered delicious beer and generous portions of food. Additionally, we had the option to camp outside on the green with a beautiful view overlooking the beach.

Went for an evening meal, had very tasty burgers, plenty of food and very good quality. Staff were pleasant, there was one ale to try, so good at least for that, the place was very quiet on a Sat evening but therefore also cosy. Very good prices, we didn't wait long at all, and altogether were very happy with the choice.

We just popped in here for a vege burger and a burger. They didn't do vege burgers so I had something else, but my husband was very pleased with his burger as it was a very good size and well cooked. There were not many people in but the staff were pleasant and very helpful. I would definitely go back but I think they need a few more vege dishes. I am difficult as I hate pasta, but on the whole we thought the place well worth a visit. Ver carta

The outside appearance does not invite you in for a meal. We passed here a few times during our stay and did not see any sign of food going on. We went into the small bar for a drink which had some locals playing pool and enjoying a drink or two. The barmaid told us there was another bar which we went into for our next drink and found a large bar with menus offering everyday food at an affordable price which as a family of five with two growing boys was just right. The staff were friendly as is everyone on Islay. If you're hungry and eating out in Port Ellen, this is the place to go!

I have a dream that one day every town will have fresh and local food sourced by those who think that visitors might like to know that there food is cooked by someone who actually cares. This place is a dump. it can't be bothered minimal service minimal decor everything minimal . We took one look at the menu for dinner and left to find a restaurant in Bowmore. Breakfast was a sad and solitary affair. the tea sits on a hot plate .. to much effort to give you a pot. And my favourite RANT.. stop having individual portions of butter marmalade marmite milk . evertime i see this stuff in a cafe or restaurant i think LANDFILL PLASTIC.. tragic

While traveling through Scotland from Australia, we had the opportunity to try a variety of restaurants and venues. We ended up at this restaurant in Port Ellen as the main restaurant we originally planned to visit was fully booked for a wedding. Despite hearing positive comments from other customers, we were disappointed with the quality of our meals. Both the entrees and main dishes were deep fried and overcooked to the point of being inedible. The smell of the oil suggested it had not been changed in weeks. The main course tasted even worse than the entrees, with one chicken dish being overcooked to a crisp and the other dish being bland and flavorless. The staff appeared to be local yout... Ver carta
