"This review is for a family of 2 adults and 2 children.Plus points, the kids enjoyed there meals, 1 had the breakfast and the other had scampi, both from the adult menu's. I can confirm the bacon was good for the breadfast meal.Minus points The Lasagne was dry, in fact I've never had a drier lasagne, there was no sauce at all. The other adult had cottage pie, this was spoiled by too much black pepper. I know it's becoming a custom to add black pepper to everything, and we didn't ask, but it spoiled the dinner completely. As has been previously mentioned, the veg are all tinned, the drinks were acceptable. Pop and milkshakes and a cappuccino. It was quite expensive in the end for what we had £35 for 4 meals and 4 drinks (kids only had small drinks, or if they were full size, the drinks are really small too).A rating of 2, with stars lost for the poor dinners and price. If you go I would stick to the obviously frozen items, such as scampi, or the tinned can't go wrong items like the breakfast."

We have been visiting this restaurant for many years and have always received excellent service, delicious meals, and enjoyed chatting with the owner. We will definitely be returning during our next break. Ver carta

Walked in and their were no customers. 5 members of staff around and none of them bothered to greet you with a hello which I thought was rather rude. I ordered a Sunday lunch and a normal breakfast. The bacon was very hard and the portion for money was very poor. However the Sunday lunch was enjoyable. Also the young lad that was working behind the counter used his fingers to move another customers food around on the plate which is not acceptable.

The cafe looked clean well laid out, beautiful desserts on display. The food tasted nice but so expensive for what you get, breakfast doesn't include toast, so by the time you get your toast coffee on top it cost 2/3 more than anywhere else I've eaten breakfast. The biggest let down was the miserable middle aged man behind the counter who was bordering on rude the way he spoke. Get some customer service skills or swap places with the youngsters who were cleaning the tables, they were courteous friendly.

I believe it was the owner who served us, we first stood there waiting to be served and was totally ignored until we said we want to order some food. The whole attitude of the guy was off and he was so unbelievably rude to us, talked to us as if we were children. They need to take a look at there menu as its so confusing and doesn 't make sense at all. For example, pictures of steak and ale pie served but no mention of it on the menu anywhere, we questioned this to be told well which one am i looking at we do 3 . The food wasn 't particularly great, they advertise fresh home made food which was clearly a pre bought pie. Not impressed and won 't be returning! Ver carta

I visited this cafe in 1996 for breakfast with friends and recently returned for the first time since then. The owner of the cafe is a very friendly and charismatic guy. The restaurant has been thoughtfully adjusted to comply with Covid-19 guidelines. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is fresh and high quality, and reasonably priced. I tried the mixed fish platter, scampi, fish goujons, fish cake, with bread and butter and I was very satisfied with the portion size. The desserts were also delicious, especially the apple pie with big pieces of apple. I also enjoyed having a cold coke in a glass bottle. Overall, I had a great meal and will definitely be back sooner than another 24...

We visited this restaurant last week and only had coffee and cake, but they were delicious. I had the apple pie with custard, which was served piping hot with a generous portion of thick custard. My friend enjoyed the jam sponge pudding with cream, which she also found to be delicious. The restaurant is very clean and brightly decorated, with everything matching from the tables to the blinds and walls, giving it a cozy and well-maintained feel. Despite the owner not being overly cheerful, he was polite and professional. The restaurant was not very busy in the late afternoon, but the other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals based on the generous portions and appetizing presentation of t...

"Booked stayed at this place very recently having read the excellent reviews. As a very level headed person, certainly not delusional I failed in trying to recognise or match the place based on any of the reviews posted on Booking.com The place, whilst very quaint appealing from the outside is in direct contrast to the inside! In reality, it 's very much in dire need of deep cleaning, redecorating and refurbishing. The food, not sure who prepared the meals in the reviews I read, but fail to see how it could be the same chef as the one that cooked ours! Our meals arrived no less than 40 minutes after ordering. The drinks to occupy us while we waited never did arrive when our meals finally arrived served (if slapping on the table warrants being called served three out of the five items that made up the meal were uncooked, cold unedible! The excuse given by the waitress, is far too busy and understaffed, yet despite not being able to fulfil the job paid for, they still take fee paying guests who are treated far less than second class citizens to the regular clientele supping at the bar! Far too busy but not enough to stop them from taking longer than necessary to laugh talking to the regulars! Needless to say, we ate at other places for the rest of our stay. DO NOT BE FOOLED, as we were by the reviews, which have stayed are extremely questionable indeed! If one is used to using hostels I can see this could be deemed as good, if not excellent accommodation. On the flip side, if one is used to hotels that are clean customer focused then this hotel (a grand name for nothing more than a public house with accommodation not a very good or pleasant one at that is not the one for you!!"
