The location is very convenient, near the city hall and cathedral. The other Chinese restaurant was busy but this was not. The food is average.

Outstanding traditional food here! We ordered the server’s recommendations and were not disappointed at all. Would highly recommend but don’t think you can order a chicken chow mein and prawn balls

We visited for a bit pre matinee theatre The toilets were disgusting and do not look like they had been cleaned for days We ordered starters and main courses starter did not arrive and our main courses arrived cold there was not chip sticks offered and no one came to check on us during the meal we asked for the bill and I was stunned to see a service charge had been added given we had received NO service I refused to pay this ! This used to be such a lovely restaurant with great food but we will not be returning it was a terrible experience on all levels ! Ver carta

During a street art tour, our guide mentioned that this restaurant had won a BBC food prize. Intrigued, we decided to give it a try after the tour. Unfortunately, we soon regretted not checking online reviews beforehand. Our Grandma's Chicken arrived just 3 minutes after ordering, despite us being the only customers in the restaurant. This award-winning dish turned out to be dry KFC chicken with Chinese spice. To make matters worse, our crispy beef was served cold, indicating that it had likely been reheated. Lacking in flavor, we didn't even finish the beef or the rice. Adding insult to injury, there was a mandatory service charge and the bill was expensive for such subpar food.

If you really want to go here, ensure you check the menu first. We should have been more suspicious by the fact that on a busy Saturday night the place was empty (except one older couple). Opening the menu you’re greeted by a prominent message stating a minimum charge of £16 per person. That was alarming and immediately made me study the menu suspiciously… ironically the £16 minimum wouldn’t be an issue as everything is massively overpriced. £14 for special fried rice?! Great location for a pre dinner meal at the hippodrome however their service was a lot to be desired We decided on the set meal for 2, starters had started to come out including duck with pancakes, we are in the middle of this when a hand comes past and takes the duck away. It apparently wasn't for us. After that we get no chatting from the waiters. When we finish our meal and we have left quite a bit as the chicken and the pork were both chewy didn't really enjoy the food we had eaten no one seems keen to come over to our table to clear and ask if we would like coffee or liqueur. Recommend to me by someone who had a great time here several years ago. First impressions were good, but down hill from there. Looking around there were weird notices about things and somethings were a bit odd. Table cloth had two rips. Looking through the menu they had charges for things like extra chopsticks. Having lived in Hong Kong and China for 40 years. I rarely eat Chinese in UK as I find it is generally poor quality compared to China. On this occasion I had met a Chinese man at a nearby local hotel who had recommended Wong's. So I called to ensure they had lamb. I only eat lamb. In July 2019 I gave Wongs an absolute 100% review. At that time we used to go to Bristol especially to visit Wongs for our special treat. We took lots of people there and they would have all agreed. It was fabulous. So today as a ‘special treat’ we took some friends there as a trip down memory lane. It was an unmitigated embarrassing disaster. We were the ‘only’ 4 in the restaurant.
