"Travelling with three young children, just spent two great days at another Merlin resort and looking forward to more of the same, the earliest table booking we could get was 1945. Table wasn’t ready on time, but once seated the service was desperately slow. No one did the industry standard “is everything alright?” Starters arrived fairly promptly but drinks took a while. Once starters were finished it took nearly an hour for the main course to arrive, by which time the kids were over tired and barely able to eat. We had to ask for more cutlery for the main course, and when we eventually got the attention of a server for a further round of drinks it took 20 minutes to bring them. It was not busy, hardly 40% full. Two other tables nearby were complaining about the slow service- also with young children. There were plenty of waiting staff on, they just seemed to prefer congregating by the tills and apparently gossiping- the three at the till near us were recounting an anecdote of another patron also complaining of poor service. By 2115 the kids had enough and needed to go to bed. I asked for the bill and was astonished to find that restaurant items cannot be charged to rooms, necessitating a trip back upstairs to get a phone with which to pay with children in tow. I asked to see the manager and explained that the service was dissatisfactory, and she seemed more concerned that they were all due to finish at 2200. The food was average at best, the prices above average, service well below average, and management indifferent. It was explained that the catering is not provided by the same firm as the hotel- it is Aramark, who are more your staff canteen contracting outfit than restaurateur contenders. Knowing this I’m amazed there was table service at all, or that the condiments weren’t in single serve packets. I will not be eating here again, other than the inclusive breakfast with room rates. I will, like previous visits, take a walk up the road to one of the several pubs nearby that offer better value and service. A highly disappointing start to a much anticipated visit to chessington world of adventures."

Useless useless useless. The staff ignore you when trying to get their attention. Drinks only arrived after we chased several times and got angry with them. Still got the main course to go but doubt anything will improve DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYBODY

Good views from the restaurant. Good buffet breakfast and chairs more comfortable than the Temple restaurant. Orange juice was watered down so only suitable for children. Like the Temple Restaurant, there were no teaspoons, easier for children to eat with.

I didn’t want to book a table after seeing the review but this place deserves my review. The service was excellent, the food was good, the cost is fair and we had An amazing time. Not sure why people said so many bad things on this restaurant but I would recommend it.

Had a great meal with grandchildren. Would definitely recommend the ribs. My grandson said they were the best ribs he had ever eaten. All our food was fabulous. We didn’t have to wait ages either. The waitress that served us was lovely. Friendly and polite. We had the Buffett breakfast in the morning which had a great choice of food as well. Well impressed.

Stayed at the Glamping site so booked dinner here for our first night. Ribs were amazing the kids enjoyed their meals too. Was looking forward to a JD coke with dinner but they don't stock it? I find that quite strange as a large hotel!! Staff were nice, although we waited ages for our desserts to arrive after asking twice (our desserts had previously come out and given to another table)!!

The food was fine, basic bar type stuff, burgers, pizza, grill. The service was poor and had to shout at the staff for attention, slow and disinterested. At this price i expect much more, over £20 a head for one or two courses, £8.50 for a pint, wine is much more, and then you have to queue at the till to pay? Literally on the tables next to you in the same space, if you're not booked for dinner the drinks are cheaper, well less expensive, but still double city prices. Never again.

My son and I are here for an evening meal. We were seated quickly and had a sweet and attentive waitress who was very prompt, friendly and polite- so no issues with staff like other reviewers have had. Food is expensive as you'd expect from a resort hotel. I had the Korean chicken and chips which were fine, slaw was limp and possibly room temperature rather than crisp and fresh so I left it. My son had the kids tomato pasta which costs £6.50 and looks like it is from a jar which is a shame as It's so easy and cheap to make fresh from scratch/tinned tomatoes- I'm sure the kitchen staff would manage to make it if given the opportunity. Breakfast was buffet with lots of choices. Again, we found...

Excellent experience. I had been a bit sceptical after reading some of the reviews but cannot fault the experience we had. We were booked in for dinner at 6pm and were seated very quickly. Our waitress Aaiza was AMAZING! She was so attentive and friendly and provided us with amazing service. Definitely an example of the service you expect when staying at and dining in a hotel like this. Our drinks and food arrived quickly and the food was great. The burgers both adult and kids were excellent. All meals were excellent portion sizes. The kids deserts were about the same size as ours and absolutely delicious. I had the panacotta and it was beautiful. £108 for two courses and drinks for 2 adults...

We visited the restaurant while staying at the hotel for my sons 13th birthday. When booking we said it was my sons 13th and if they could do anything to make it special we would be so grateful. Sadly there was no recognition. Most of the waiting staff were uninterest pretty much throwing our plates of food at us. Food was OK but all very expensive for what it is. We were also booked for breakfast the next morning, when we arrived we were told there was no record of our booking and I was told I was at the wrong restaurant, after going away to find my booking confirmation in my emails the same staff member simple said OK sit over there, no apology just really dismissive. Generally a really di...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
