"Zen is an amazingly different dining experience. I visited yesterday with my sister for an impromptu Saturday evening dinner. They kindly offered us a table from 6pm to 7.30pm which suited us fine, especially as we rang at just 5pm that same day asking for one. We struck it lucky as Zen is an extremely busy restaurant! The restaurant decor is spectacularly beautiful being a mix of modern and traditional Japanese design. Service was perfect and atmosphere buzzing, happy and friendly. Zen has some great Vegetarian dishes on the menu so we got stuck in and ordered asparagus sushi, tofu parcel sushi and aubergine tempura as a sharing starter. My main was Coconscious Curry a thick rich coconut curry with spicy chilli, aubergines, green beans, tofu and pineapple. It was very, very good but not as good as my sisters Assorted Mushroom Teppanyaki dish I'll be having that when I return as it was fabulous! The house white Pinot Grigio complemented our food very well and the cocktails were amazing. For dessert we sat at the bar and worked our way through a range of cocktails including the Fountain of Youth (we can but try Cherry Blossoms, Russian Kisses, Watermelon Martinis, Banana Mojitos and a couple of Chunky Geishas. The best cocktails I have ever tasted. We had a brilliant evening and will definitely return to Zen very soon."

Very expensive, offers staple Asian dishes with a Japanese twist (usually seaweed strips added in).

trendy, entertaining atmosphere. they made a stir fry sweet dish with white rice for me, as the vegetarian dishes on the menu are not vegan. friendly service.

well, I am a great fan of Asian foods, so I came with some great expectations I am a little disappointed with curry I ordered lack of taste, but it looked beautiful. as an appetizer I had Japanese dumplings, which tasted as a polish with cauliflower, it was just in order. the service is nice, a bit busy, so you have to wait to order more drinks. I think I'll give them another chance. Ver carta

the food menu here is fantastic I could hardly decide what to order! there are 2 set menus that offer a great overview of the offer. we got menu a that had 4 courses for just £29.95pp and was stunning, the duck salad star was delicious and the coconut ice cream finished the meal perfectly. the cocktail menu was also great and very reasonable for the city center of belfast. we are already planning our next visit!

not many vegan options, in which there was no vegan main course on the menu. the personal had however burst. they offered me a veggie teriyaki that was so delicious. While it would be nice to have some options, I did not go hungry. I went to celebrate my birthday and my friend asked if they could do something for what was vegan and they would drown on ice what I thought was a nice note. the cocktails were amazing

fantastic ambiente and good eating! the sitting and the ambiente of zen are fantastic. it has these small Japanese artifacts on the walls and even 2 zashiki (traditional Japanese low seating order). there was a set menu option to choose from, which started one and one main with a drink for about £17. I ordered the sushi and maki rolll plate in starter, which was very good. plating was also well served on a wood panel. for the first time I decided to have the deen roast in orange sauce that was too sweet for my taste. I felt that the sweet one who drove orange over the whole dish. a bit tangig and chili would have been better! all in all...read more Ver carta

Surprisingly for an Asian restaurant there are only three vegetarian netzens on the extensive menu. I asked the waiter whether the vegetarian options contain milk products. he went away and checked and came back to tell me that I couldn't have the main thing on the menu as they contained all milk products. there was even an egg in the morinaga tofu and mushroom shell, although this is not indicated on the menu. I was offered with Teriyaki sauce a vegetable tour guide that was not listed on the menu. there are some presumably vegan starters, including economical sushi, edamame drill a black bean and water chestnut salat wrap. eating was okay, but nothing special. there are better Asian restau...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
