"I met a friend at Meadow Hill for lunch, apprehensive as I suffer with GERD and I’m really restricted to what I can eat/drink at the moment. The setting is lovely and the staff all very friendly and helpful. We were there a couple of hours and the service remained friendly and efficient throughout. I can’t have caffeine, dairy, or gluten among other things. They were able to cater for all with a decaf pot of tea with soya milk, and the most incredible fish platter with gluten free bread. I asked for the bread to be toasted as I find GF bread very dry, and that wasn’t a problem. Dairy free spread for the toast, and the fish was so so good. I didn’t feel like I was eating anything free from as the plate contents combined were so tasty. I’ll definitely be back, I expect for all of my lunches as most places can’t cater for my dietary requirements, but Meadow Hill nailed it!"

We had a lovely lunch in the coffee shop. Everyone that served us were so polite. The food was great, I had Brie, bacon and cranberry panini. So nice!

I’ve bought hampers from Meadow Hill before, but this time had the treat of receiving one. Delicious. Scones, cake, brownie, sandwiches, quiche, sausages….and so much more. Always yummy. Happy days.

Came off the motorway to find somewhere to eat. This was a real gem! Welcoming staff, great menu and freshly cooked food. The jacket potatoes with roasted veg was absolutely delicious. No jars or tins here! The cake range was extensive and again all home made. Can highly recommend

Went for coffee and cake with 3 of my neighbours. Two are in the 90's one of them in a wheelchair. The staff were fabulous. Putting a ramp ath the entrance to get in and out. Plenty of room inside, not squeezed in like some cafe's. Cakes and coffee were fabulous. I will definitely be going back

Walked in on the off chance with my wife having lived in Dunmow 12 and 15 years respectively. Our first visit but certainly not our last. My ploughman's was superb and beautifully presented. My wife's salad was excellent and the obligatory milk shake was wonderful. Reasonably priced, service with a smile nothing was too much trouble and to add to it, I believe the cafe is dog friendly. Long live the local cafe!

Excellent food, service and welcome. The salads are wonderful. Fresh and good quality ingredients. I’m a healthy eating freak and don’t go for toasties and paninis so a delicious and healthy salad is a rare and welcome option that isn’t offered at a lot of eating places. Their menu is varied catering to different tastes. Oh and their cakes are to die for when you fancy a sweet treat. Book to avoid disappointment as this place is very popular!

"We have lived in Dunmow for 25 years and have always visited this pub through its various ownerships. We had not been for a while, until after I had a life saving major heart operation last year and this was the first place we chose to go for breakfast when I came out of hospital. We have continued to go since then on a regular basis and it never fails to satisfy. We have always been served by Lorraine since the first day we went and she has been fantastic. Last weekend was a year since I had the operation and we chose to go back for a small family meal to celebrate the success of the day. Well what can I say, my wife had other ideas and with the help of Lorraine she organised a surprise gathering of family and friends in a cordoned off part of the marquee with buffet. What made it even more special was that they don't normally do a buffet on a Sunday as it is normally roast dinner only. After Lorraine explained to her manager the importance of the day she was more than happy to help make the day happen. For this I am really grateful, and despite not getting the steak dinner I thought I was having it was so much better. Thank you to everyone involved as I know the organisation for this on a day you would not normally do it would have been a challenge. We will continue to go for breakfast whenever we can and hope that Lorraine is always there."
