"Thanks to pandemic travel restrictions and seasonal closings it has been 3 years since we have dined at this attractive hotel The head waiter, once again was charming and welcoming. The outdoor seating area is attractive, especially once we were moved away from someone next to us who chose to smoke. The line between perception and prejudice is thin and which side of the line you are on is mostly in the judgment of the audience. In more than 50 years of passionate traveling, I 've found that hotel dining rooms often disappoint. Most of the exceptions are in France where many hotels have been built around destination restaurants. Elsewhere, a mostly captive audience is content or resigned to eat down the hall from their lodging when they are unable or unwilling to seek out stand alone restaurants. The client wants a good, even fine meal, and the restaurant wishes to deliver a satisfying experience. It is to the advantage of both to share their impressions in real time. Hence the practice of asking the customer if everything is OK. Once or twice in a meal seems courteous and wise. More than a dozen times a nervous tick or apprehension. That was the case last night. The food and wine list were respectable, but not exceptional. Starters and main courses were well crafted. The desserts pretty, but too sweet. Only a few half bottles were on offer, and they were especially mediocre. So we bought a quality vintage and drank about three fifths of it. Life is too short to drink bad wine. At this price point, we could have done better around the town, but it was still a pleasant evening. Perhaps, beyond the perennial question, the waiter doesn 't really want to know what is on my mind and at the time I 'm not sure if I need to know fully what is on his. So the real answer to the question of whether everything is OK is: Almost."

"What a shocking experience. My parents have traveled over this place for months. My parents were often here and bought a gift from London for the owners. You were so excited about the family! A special evening to celebrate... my parents' birthdays are all together in Italy. but what a total disaster. We were 11 people. Our last night together as a family. The service was slow. When the food came, it was quite terrible. We sat in there when it was a bit cool last night, but actually the atmosphere was suppressing. My daughter got her pasta at least 30 minutes before they even came back to take the rest of our order! I just got my dinner when everyone else had eaten! The grilled sole was unusable and a part that would not have satisfied a small child. My brother never got his meal, probably send a gd. There was no gin. Not a catastrophe, but when they did Aperols, they were made with flat Prosecco. The last straw when my mother only wanted a negro at the end of the night, they refused to be a restaurant not a bar!! My mother said, “It’s the only thing I’m looking forward to when you always make me a negro when I come.” Angrily began to do one, but it was too late. The evening was ruined. A bad taste was left to the mouth. We told them not to interfere. I wish we weren't paid for the meal, but my father is an honourable gentleman. when I can say for this family that really does something about manners and what it means to be in the hospitality industry. Shameful. The worst culinary experience we have ever experienced."

"There is something to be said for a friendly, clean and cheerfully decorated bar/cafe. I 've also heard that they make decent sandwiches. But that is not quite enough. There are plenty of bars/cafes with friendly owners and staff. When someone takes the trouble to name a place in Italy, "Breakfast ', you would think they would have some notion of what that term means in English. To an American, Brit or Irish, tourist or ex-pat, or for that matter anyone from Northern Europe, it refers to a morning meal that is much heartier and varied than the Italian habit of starting the day with an espresso, a roll and maybe some juice. Frankly, we were hoping there might be some place in town with a griddle, and the smell of eggs, bacon and sausage, maybe even some pancakes, french toast and hash browns. A bagel and lox would do quite nicely too. I 'm sure my Irish friends wouldn 't say no to a steaming bowl of oatmeal. What is on offer here doesn 't even qualify as a mirage. No sign of a real breakfast here. From 50 years of traveling in Italy, I know a cafe may or may not have decent coffee. It is a wonderful mix of art, craft and science, and catering to their own unique mix of clientele. I do know, with certain brands of coffee, it doesn 't matter how good the barista, the result will be somewhere between terrible and forgettable. Take the trouble to have a good brand, and these folks do, Pasqulini, a very good cup of coffee is likely but not certain; in their case, they still manage to make a mediocre Cappucino! i don 't enjoy saying negative things about a hard working and pleasant establishment. But with their name, I find it false advertising. There was no breakfast to be had."
