"Honestly, I must start off by saying how impressed I was with the quality of the vegetarian Chilli Freak pizza we ordered. It was arguably perfectly done with a delicious crust and tantalisingly good amounts of spice and heat — it’s just a shame with...what came before it. During a time of scrutiny where hygiene measures should be paramount within the food industry and takeaway kitchens, we were hugely disappointed to see staff at work not abiding by these guidelines, not wearing masks, beard nets, gloves and, terribly, handling meat without washing their hands before spreading vegetarian toppings. This is very, very poor and something I will write to Papa John’s directly about because (as pictured) zero attention or care is seemingly given to their customers behind the scenes. Not even wearing disposable gloves or masks with being so prevalent is something I find deeply unsettling. It’s therefore challenging for me to award Papa John’s in Brentwood anything more than two star. We also must address the costs of food on their menu. For solely a large pizza, you can be paying nearly GBP which is exorbitant! There is a distinct lack of friendly customer service and I imagine waiting times can be fairly long when the place is busy. So, all in all, whilst the pizza might have been delectable and makes formidable opposition when compared to a Pizza Hut order, behind the scenes there really is a great deal of work seemingly to be done. Quite dire hygiene it appears."

"Stopped off for a quick dinner on the way home from visiting friend on bank holiday Monday. Have used the George and Dragon many times and always had good food and good service. Tonight however was a totally. different experience! They seemed to be incredibly short staffed. When our food arrived if was warm at best. My daughter and husband ordered dirty burgers which arrived without bacon or pickles. My other daughter had what I can only say appeared to be some else’s chips broken and re-fried. We ate what we could but left much of the food. I discreetly spoke to a male member of staff rather than cause a fuss. He said he would speak to the manager but never came back to me. I asked the waitress for our bill so that we could pay and leave. The young lady brought the bill to the table and left. After waiting a good 10 minutes for someone to take our money with no joy So I went to the bar to pay. While paying I asked if the manager had advised and was told yes, “ sorry the “wrong burgers” were served but you didn’t complain before eating so tough we expect you to pay in full. I paid the full bill. On getting home and checking the menus it turns out I have paid £6.00 to much to be served rubbish and incorrect food! I suppose the jokes on me for not kicking up a fuse and disturbing other dinner and then not checking I had been charged for the cheaper food that we got served!"

"We usually frequent the Horse Groom at Roxwell but we thought we'd try a different venue in the same chain expecting the same service etc. Couldn't have been more wrong! We chose our food, a share plate starter, which arrived minus one of the...food items, Hummus which was to go with the flat bread, in its place, a bowl of chutney, which had no relation to the other foods on the plate. we questioned this with the waitress, who said, we don't have any, I asked why was we not informed when we made our choice, and the attitude was, I didn't take your order, I don't know it's not my problem, she then went to speak to someone, and brought out a second bowl of chutney to appease the situation. When we said that we wasn't happy with this, she just shrugged and had the attitude that it's not her problem and just walked off. We then asked to speak to a Manager, who attended the table and explained that they have no Hummus, can't get any, and havent' for months, fine, but again, why is it on the menu, and why wasn't we informed when we made our choice, and I'm not being funny, they have a chef who can put on his own special board but can't whizz up a batch of hummus every day? I don't want make this review about a piddly bowl of Hummus, but this venue is seriously lacking in customer care and attitude towards their customers, the manager cancelled our order at our request and we left. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and they need to have some sort of training for their staff and their attitude towards paying customers."

"As a frequent visitor here we booked a table here last night to bring our daughter and grandchildren out for a couple of hours, firstly we wasn’t given the high chair we asked for but we overlooked that we ordered food and drink by our server a young lad pretty cheerful but looked over worked , starters arrived which was to put it one way was well done but we ate them none the less, the kids meals arrived as he offered them to us he was using a tea towel I took the plates and they were so hot, god knows what would have happened to the kids hands if they touched them, so they had to wait for the plates to cool down before eating after what seemed an age our mains arrived my daughter said right away that my burger looked well done and dry, she was spot on It did take around 15 minutes to get our servers attention as he was running around getting to keep his tables happy, I don’t for one minute think he was to blame for any of it, by the time he did come a just told him to take it off the bill as it sort of turned me off, the table next to us had a bit of fish and chips which he returned for being over cooked I don’t know if it was overly busy or a new chef but these things shouldn’t happen and the toilets where the bins are overflowing with paper isn’t good either,it’s really needs to be looked at whether it’s low staff numbers or people who shouldn’t be in the kitchen"
