"“Recipes from my travels” visited deedar Indian cuisine for the first time last night 29/3/22, for my sister, lorraine 60th birthday meal. and lorraines kinder, samantha and gary could not have found a better place. in the heart of barnt green village, deedar indian cuisine. was founded in 1993 and had a completely renovated in 2018. the outside of the restaurant was smart and welcoming and inside was absolutely flawlessly clean. as usual, with wherever I seemed to go, I came there early, but the staff was very attentive and polite, even offering me a drink while waiting. when all the guests arrived, 9 adults and 4 children were sitting, among them a few small children to watch the well presented menu. Vegetarian, vegan and meat dishes were readily available, including traditional, house specialty and cooking signatures. I will not bore you with everything we had, all I want to say is that I had the malayan chicken biryani with Keema rice and without doubt it was one of the best I ever had. the fresh of the ingredients melt through the dish. in the did all enjoyed their meals to the fullest and all agreed with me that it was exceptional food. I also have to add that the staff was very attentive to the probably child, with warning of hot dishes etc. all in all, I would recommend the deedar to anyone who visits the opposite, the natives are sure to have such a restaurant in front of their doorstep. the restaurant can be used for single persons, couples and larger groups like ourselves and with fine impediment access, it has everything they need for a stunning meal in a very relaxed atmosphere. it also adheres to Kovid lines, with handsanitary available as soon as they go to the restaurant. the deedar is not licensed, but they are welcome to bring their own alcohol. softdrinks and non-alcoholic storage were available so that for teetotaller like me and guests who drive this was a welcome bonus. deedar has free wlan, a parking space and various offers, as well as a delivery service in the area. we all had an amazing birthday party for my sisters, who was made even more by the quality of food and workers."

"We were staying in the Abbey Hotel on a dinner bed and breakfast deal. We were able to choose from a 3 course menu all of which sounded very nice. Starters were OK, I had halloumi and beetroot but it was a little short on beetroot and overly sweet with balsamic. My husband had gravlak which he enjoyed. Both offered bread but had one bite and left it as it was stale. For mains I had chicken and mash with onions and green beans. It needed another veg on the plate and again was overly sweet with another heavy handed addition of balsamic. My husband had 'crispy ' pork belly the majority of the pork was inedible as rather than being crispy it was an un crisped layer of fat and rather unpleasant. For desert my husband had a chocolate tart which was ok. I ordered the special of strudel with ice cream. It was unfortunately not a strudel and not edible. It was a parcel of very hard filo pastry filled with what we suspect was left over tinned fruit from the breakfast buffet, a few currents and a lot of what we think was bread crumbs. It was awful and I left it all. Service was ok except one waitress kept squeezing behind my chair rather than walking round the table next to us. We were not asked how our meals were despite leaving some elements untouched, and weren 't offered a tea or coffee at the end of the meal we aren 't good at complaining and so didn 't raise the issues and regret this. My husband attempted to pay for his wine and the staff seemed unable to work the tills properly. We guess they must be new tills with the refurbishment. All in all we wouldn 't go back. Some elements were Ok but nothing was great and had we paid full price rather than as part of our hotel stay deal we would have been massively dissapointed."
