"I had dinner last night at Door's. The restaurant was pretty much empty except for a few diners who were sat towards the back. Despite the fact that there were so many empty tables, I was not even asked where I preferred to sit. But this was something I could live with so let's move on. I said I wanted the 2-course meal (starter and main.) I chose the ravioli soup as starter and steak for main. The soup was cold and the steak, despite having stated emphatically that I wanted it medium rare, was overcooked. It was a thin piece of meat - not cooked right - and they threw a few baby potatoes to go with the dish. The chimichurri sauce that came with the meat was regrettably tasteless. Not being satisfied with the first 2 courses, albeit I ate them all as I was quite hungry from not having had much food throughout the day, I decided to make this a 3-course meal. I then ordered the gourmet coffee for dessert. Once again the lack of imagination that goes into a platter that should look wow but instead the looks the opposite proved difficult for me to stay away from this review. The so-called gourmet coffee platter was uninspiring in presentation, not tasty and cheap in terms of the selection of desserts that were part of the platter. I needed to say something about this dining experience. Why? Because I am a customer of Holiday Inn and I adore their front desk staff who are nothing short of professional, courteous and customer-centric. But given Doors is the only option when it comes to restaurants within the hotel, you're stuck with it. To end the unhappy story, I want to say that whilst the poor quality of food (and mediocre service at best from the waiters) was bad enough, I was presented with a bill for €57. And when I questioned why the 3-course price of €29 did not apply, the waiter stated the steak (or the thin piece of average and chewy meat I had) was apparently not one of the choices for the 2 or 3 course meal. I did state I wanted the 2-course meal at the very start so I should have been told when I chose the steak for main that I could not have it. But they didn't and apparently they expected me to notice the asterisk which meant "not an option" which I also did not notice. How silly and stupid of me to not have seen it! So to have paid a lot of money for food that was quite frankly an awfully prepared meal at best, and service that was mediocre, makes me rethink of my options for next time I head to Paris. Holiday Inn has always been my preferred hotel in the area. I stayed at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel for almost 2 years as it is the closest hotel to my workplace. The deteriorating service and poor breakfast experience for two years was enough for me. Albeit not the most convenient I decided to go back to Holiday Inn. And now this happens. I think I'm going to have to try the Movenpick next time as people keep telling me that it is one of the best options within the Levallois area where I work when I am in Paris."
