"We were here for dinner after a long ride to Cortina. The restaurant is located at an optimal position, just at the entrance of the pedestrian zone from the Northern side of the town. We arrived at 6:15 PM and the waiter asked us if we wanted to drink or eat. Upon hearing our request to dine he asked us to wait 15 minutes before taking our order, as the kitchen opened at 6:30 PM. The fact that the kitchen opens at 6:30 for Italian standards is totally justified, for Cortina standards a little less. Despite being in Italy, Cortina used to be in Austrian territory until the end of WW1. Many restaurants were already serving at 6 PM, following perhaps an Austrian trend. I am not really sure why the kitchen opened so late, perhaps the owner grew up in a different setting, I don't know. Either way I'm not sure as to why he did not take our order immediately: he could have already left it in the kitchen to prepare once opened and asked us to wait a little longer rather than waiting until the kitchen opened to take orders (which could have ultimately slowed down the service). We ate outside, so I cannot judge the interior. The view outside is really beautiful, with a view over the Dolomites. Despite there being no cars (little noise) due to the pedestrian zone, it still got a little noisy: we were sitting at the edge of the dining area next to a public (not restaurant property) bench where people were sitting. If I were the manager I would perhaps ask to remove the bench in order to have a degree of silence for eating customers but the level of noise wasn't overall too bad. It could however, get loud on other occasions so if I were you, I'd eat on the Southern end in order to avoid possible disturbances. It is true that there are other tables with people dining but people that just sit while passing by might tend to be less aware of their surroundings and therefore less respectful from this point of view. The tables are however, intelligently distributed: there is ample room for waiters to pass through. However, the chairs tended to be uncomfortable so please adjust if you are of age or have physical issues with that. We were served in decent times: we both ordered pizza. In my case, ham, mushrooms and cheese were relatively evenly distributed on the pizza and the dough was also of good size. The pizza was of average to good size (I want to relativize this, as I myself was quite hungry that evening). The staff was professional, took our orders as they should have. The prices (again it depends) tend to be quite high for Italy but considering we are in a touristic area like Cortina they tend to be average. For 1x coke 1x beer 2x pizzas= 41 euros. The prices reminded me of Switzerland but I have a feeling that in other restaurants in the area one would have to pay the same amount. The price was therefore reasonable (quality to price and quantity to price are both good). Overall, the experience was good and I would recommend to eat here for typical italian meals (but not typical italian prices). I give 4 stars instead of 5: the day they remove that bench and the waiters ask us if everything is ok (strangely, they did not do that) keeping the same standard of experience I will add the last star."

"they were very nice to us here, and we could enjoy a light but tasty vegan meal. I didn't see anything about a vegan menu. we asked for “vegana” from the moment we set ourselves, so it would be strange if they had a vegan menu and had not offered us. I wonder – if we actually spoke Italian well – if we had something better, vegan-izing more dishes. but we were fine. They offered us spaghetti pomodoro (already this dish had a few paintings in this city) and some other things that I did not catch, so we studied the menu. we have the quinoa salmon salad without salmon: delicious, lemony fresh, but very light. If I have it again, I would ask, borrow or add something like that. we also have a porcini mushroom pasta dish that was great. I have repeatedly confirmed that it should not have any butter or cheese. they assured me it had only oil. I guess I have to trust them from the butter. if it was really vegan, it was amazingly delicious and it is worth it again for. and we have pizza to stay one and go one. both were the ortolana (zucchini, auberginenpfeffer) without cheese, which normally have no tomato sauce. we did not know that/not means ordering this particular pizza so that we were able to get only on the second sauce. it was a bit of a farewell without sauce, just sweet and broth. I would have liked to have a margherita or Marinara pizza, not to add a cheese and some vegetable toppings, but the language barrier prevented this. I tried to order like this, but the waitress wanted to pick something with nice on the menu and change that, to include us to certain sweets. so we ended for the first time without tomato sauce. I would have liked to add mushrooms. but it did not happen. the pizza was very good bake pizza, no complain about taste or preparation. the food will certainly be well cooked – it is a large casual Italian restaurant. I might try more pasta dishes again. I wouldn't consider this a vegan oasis. but that could be. most of the beuling on the road here for me had to do with the speech, which is obviously my failure, not hers. I think the review here that mentions a vegan menu can have been incorrectly posted. I guess it could go around the Michelin-reviewed restaurant caracol in bacoli?"
