"What an experience with Deb's Fish Bar!! I have had previous orders from here that have gone wrong but haven’t written anything on Social media about them before as in truth even though there has been some decidedly bad meals , A horrendous excuse for a waffle which look like a pancake run over by a car tyre!! Wrong orders four times!! Completely inedible chips which have basically been so covered in Grease and soggy it was impossible to eat them…So okay we didn’t order chips from there anymore!! Even a piece of blue plastic inside the batter around the fish we didn’t make a big song and dance about!!! We simply let them know and were told it was from the packaging!! Well thank God for that because if I’m going to choke on something when I eat my dinner it’s good to know it’s just from the packaging!! I do actually have photos of all of these things because I tend to photograph things when something makes me laugh when I’m really gobsmacked by the state of it!! But overall, they’ve been friendly and the one thing that has always been good was the fish!! On two occasions that wasn’t the case and it was virtually all batter with greasy fish inside making it almost in edible, Photos of which I sent them so that they knew what had gone wrong along with a message explaining that I wasn’t being horrible I was just letting them know, the manager sent me a lovely message back in return telling me I could just have 20% off my next order which I thought was very kind!! HOWEVER!! I ordered from them tonight on UberEats because I had a code and scheduled the order for between 6..30 and 6.45 knowing that this would give us time to eat before we had to get on and do things. At 6:45 the order wasn’t here so I called the shop and was told they were incredibly busy but the order has gone out I would be here by 7 pm. 710 still no order! 7.20 still no order so called again and now told the order has been delivered according to the driver!! Which of course it hasn’t been!! So they would refund my order or create a new one? Obviously that late at night I wasn’t going to say yes please create a new order knowing that it then wouldn’t be arriving until even later still! We don’t place massive orders even though we order quite a lot food from them between us quite a few of those orders have not been great, but because they put sausages in for the dogs and whatnot and the fish ordinarily has been good we have been continuing to use them!! Unbelievably The woman on the phone proceeded to tell me they will not take any further orders from me because they can’t fulfil our needs!! When have you ever heard of any food place banning you from ordering from them as a result of their f@ck ups?????!!!!!! Very disappointed to say the least totally gobsmacked by the mentality . Basically if you’re going to order from there be prepared to accept the wrong orders without saying anything, wait for over an hour for your food to maybe or maybe not arrive, May or may not be edible when it arrives or it may not arrive at all even though they will tell you that it has!! I have never gone out of the way to shame them or create any difficulty for them publicly, I have sent them photographs of the disgusting food that wasn’t just so that they could see for themselves what they had sent out and I’m not going to post those pictures here today because that isn’t what this post is about. I think it’s safe to say that the phrase good customer service has gone out of the window with these people which I would not have said yesterday after having received such a lovely message from the owner. Absolutely appalling behaviour from a business that I would have recommended to people but certainly would not again! To add insult to injury believe it or not I just had one of the delivery drivers come to the door and try to insist that I pay for food that never actually got delivered to me this evening!!! Apparently the delivery driver went back with a ticket telling them she had delivered it to me i’m so now they thought I was lying on top of everything else!!!! You Actually couldn’t make this up!!!!!"

"After having a very good takeaway from the Tandoori, I thought I’d try out this place given the reviews below. The night didn’t start off great, I placed an order and the person over the phone had broken English and was extremely difficult to understand....After some difficulty, I managed to place my order. When I went to collect my takeaway, the mood was pretty dull. I can understand that we’re in lockdown but a few more smiles would’ve made it a bit more welcoming. However, a rather small waiter with a beard did try and come and shake my hand. Probably forgot about the social distancing measures. Nonetheless, they were able to get the collection order to me within or so minutes which was good. For appetisers, I ordered a chicken tikka and fish tikka. The chicken tikka was slightly tough and burnt around the edges. I can appreciate that chicken tikka doesn’t travel amazingly but it was slightly tougher than I’d probably expect. Fish tikka was okay but wasn’t fresh. Definitely defrosted then cooked as it was very flaky instead of tender. For the mains, we went for Mango Chicken and King Prawn Bhuna. These were below par. I knew the Mango Chicken would be mild and slightly sweet, but I didn’t realise it’ll tip me off for diabetes. So much sugar. King prawn bhuna was very bland. For a dish that’s meant to have a thick sauce, it was more or less just a king prawn dish swimming around thin gravy. Lacked a lot of flavour. The mushroom rice I ordered didn’t taste as if it was made to order. Felt like they put it in the microwave or that it was already in its container hours ago. The grains were slightly and the mushrooms felt like they lacked seasoning. As we’re in lockdown I can understand with social distancing and furloughing staff, it could potentially lead to poor standards but I couldn’t imagine it being this bad. I’m hoping this was a blip and it’ll return to normal standards post December"

"We stayed for one night here as we were in the area celebrating a friends birthday. The accommodation is above the pub and when we arrived the lady was friendly and checked us in. When booking we didn’t request breakfast but they had included it for an extra £7 each. As this wasn’t until 9am they removed it from our bill as we had to leave at 8am the next day. The rooms are upstairs, no lift facility that I could see if you are with anyone with mobility issues or have heavy bags. The rooms are basic but appeared to be well looked after and clean. We didn’t have much time to inspect the room as we were heading straight out. We arrived back at our room at 1am. The bed was ok we had a king room but it didn’t really look any different in size to our friends double bed in the next room. It was comfy enough but the room was very warm, we didn’t realise the radiator was on full until the next morning. The one thing that for me really let this place down is the en suite. Whilst the room was clean, the bathroom seemed to have limescale on the showerhead so it looked a little less clean. The shower was a rainfall one which I love but it didn’t have a separate attachment so if you aren’t washing your hair, it’s hard to not get it wet as the cubicle is quite tight. The shower tray also fills up with water and doesn’t seem to drain very fast. The toilet when flushed made such a noise and seemed to carry on filling up for half an hour (not good when you just want to sleep). It was so noisy we could hear the room next doors toilet making the same noise. We were only given a tiny bit of toilet paper too. Seems this was not replenished after the last person stayed there. I couldn’t find any spare rolls in the room and with the absence of a reception, there was no way of asking for a replacement. I went to use the main pub toilets in the morning as we had no paper left but the door to the pub was locked (it must not open until breakfast starts at 9). Luckily we were leaving early! You just drop your keys in a box on exit so there wasn’t a way of informing the staff about this before we left. We didn’t eat at the pub so I can’t comment on the food but we had some drinks there during the evening and the staff were attentive and served everyone quickly. It’s a nice quaint looking traditional inn. The car park is a walk around corner at the back of the building, a public car park but we didn’t have to pay."

"A little gem hidden away. Took my mum for afternoon tea. Lovely old fashion tea set already set out cup, saucer plate) . Linda our hostess brought out a 3 tiered plate stand. Top plate was mini cakes, doughnuts and profiteroles. Middle plate was a selection of thick crustless sliced sandwiches with hearty fillings. We had tuna, cheese with red onion, sliced tomatoes and egg some plain and some with tomato. Our bottom plate had again variety of cake two of each good sizes Walnut ? , lemon, a slice of something sweet chocolatey with a bit of a crunch very tasty) and scones with jam, clotted cream. And some strawberries. We were also asked if we would like tea or coffee. We chose tea and a pot was brought out. When we needed a top up, we only had to ask and another was brought out to us. Linda our hostess also checked with us that everything was fine and also gave us a doggy bag to take home what we couldn't manage, which we needed and was a lovely consideration, with us not having ask for one. The afternoon tea was very good value for money, very filling and yes we were absolutely stuffed. The staff are very friendly and cheerful. It was very relaxing we did not feel like we had rushed. It was also very clean and tidy. Even though it was cold outside, it was lovely and warm inside. Just remember it is easier to book in advance, also you can let staff know any dietary needs."
