"We live on the doorstep of Lytham Hall and know the listed building very well. However, today was our first visit to the tea room. We had to pay £1 per person to go through the main gates to get to the tea room. Upon entering the tea room, finding a clean table and sitting down, a pushy lady came selling raffle tickets for upkeep of the Hall for £1 each. We ordered a pot of tea for 4 persons. It was hot and good, served quickly in fine bone china, no complaints. Our food order came soon afterwards, 2 x jacket potatoes with prawns and salad garnish. Potatoes were only just warm. Garnish included a thin slice of orange, we asked for a wedge of lemon and it came. Waiter returned saying no more beef burgers, so order changed to pork burger. This was poor quality and not freshly cooked to order, tasted warmed up. Finally the fish pie, looked nice but tasted average. Mostly mashed potatoes and not much fish, served with more new potatoes and baby corn which was over cooked. We didn't bother with deserts, saw the table opposite with scones that looked dry. Prices were reasonable for Lytham, I suppose. But add on the gate entrance and raffle tickets. The food did not match the surroundings, which is a dreadful shame. The serving staff need to smile more too. We were all disappointed."
