"The service at this restaurant was terrible. I forgot to mention that I had a 30% off mains discount when I was paying, and the barman told me it was too late to apply it, which I found shocking. Other places have been able to cancel the sale and reapply the discount for me in the past. After paying full price for our meal, my mum ordered the apple crumble and custard pudding for £5.99, which we found to be extremely expensive. The custard portion was so small, with only about two tablespoons in a jug, leaving the crumble very dry. Overall, it was a terrible experience and we will not be returning. Don't waste your money here."

"Very nice place to spend a couple of hours. Exterior (front) seating and nicely presented. I believe there could be a beer garden to the rear. The interior is nicely furnished and decorated. Plenty of seating and table settings. Very large place. Attentive staff. Nice customers. Lovely latte. The food is outstanding. We've never had a poor offering. I usually go for the small plates option and purchase 3 different ones olives with warm bread and a butter, Panko halloumi with a salad garnish and chilli dip and creamy garlic mushrooms (to die for). All are delicious. Food is beautifully presented and efficiently served. Clean place and decent toilet facilities. Definitely worth paying a visit to Garbutts if you're stuck for somewhere to eat or drink."

Poor catering staff just can 't cope! 45 minute wait, cold jacket potato but warm cucumber funnily, small fish more a goujon,batter burnt as usual, unstirred crusty mushy peas still in the shape of the ramikin they were microwaved in. Tired, dirty looking place. Possibly worst Spoons in UK! Go to one at Beverley, see how it should be done."

"first! we have set ourselves next to humans, not very covided safe and most employees do not wear masks. when they are, it is not her face or the nase covered. we get table service and the women who served us had the worst. it was that someone could have, they looked like we ruined their day and they didn't want to work. she went around chewing gum and turned around unprofessional and not at all closer. the kind and wise how these women have set off our meals was ridiculous. Not asked who eats it, who it is, was simply whipped on the table and then we had to ask for cutlery after we waited for it! this place feels dirty, the unhygienic toilets do not explain that looked like they were not cleaned in days. no toilet roll, mark in the toilet and the dryer do not work without registration. hot eating was also cold, overall bad experience and will not come back. I'm afraid for my friend who is gluten-free and we're concerned with everything she could have gluten"

"Writing a bad review isn 't how I wanted to deal with this, but as Shoot the bull have tried to justify their extremely poor service with less than acceptable excuses I feel people should know this. If your planning your wedding or special event and thinking about using Shoot the bull, Do not do it ! We paid Shoot the bull £5000 in total for canapés, wedding breakfast and street food for the evening. Credit where its due the canapés and street food was nice. But as far as the wedding breakfast goes it was shockingly bad. It was suppose to be a posh buffet but it looked like something thrown together for a little kids party. There was so little food selection on the top table, we had to swap food from 1 end to the other. The sandwiches were far from fresh and definitely not made that day. There was a big delay between all the food platters being brought out. The tacos were the most bland and tastless food we have ever tasted. The guests thought this was just the starter due to the small amount of food and a lot of the guests left the wedding and came back with McDonald 's and takeaway. Shoot the bull has several excuses they think justify such shockingly poor service. 1 The circumstances of having to serve your buffet to individual tables and the difficulties you had with the food options being delayed and limited on your top table and you and your top table guests having to pass various items to each other would never have been the case and it was due to government restrictions 2 The Tacos would have been freshy prepared and topped up on the buffet station, rather than been built all at the same time and served to your tables 3 The Sandwiches would have been displayed in trendy buffet crates 4 The staff costs were higher than forecasted due to serving post the football too Being so upset and let down on our wedding day because Shoot the bull provided such a poor service is absolutely unacceptable. Since the wedding we have spoken to Shoot the bull and this is how they feel about the situation. Whilst we of course remain extremely apologetic for the way you feel about the catering we feel £700 to be a fair reflection of this. The offer of a £700 refund has been calculated and agreed by senior management and the board of Directors. It is a full and final offer and non negotiable. It is deemed fair and has taken all aspects of the day into consideration I was initially upset and embarrassed but their response has just made me angry and im also offended that they think £700 is a fair reflection on all of this. They state on their website They can offer a quirky and unrestricted dining experience for any occasion from grand venues to marquees, they can set up at any location, all they need is a reliable power source YET THEY CANT EVEN MAKE A FRESH SANDWICH !"

"first visit in this pub on recommended as we live in a village on the other side of hull. first impressions, a warm and welcoming mood here. the food came hot, which is great, as many pubs serve only warm. my steak was really nice and cooked, as I asked to cook it, also great. very nice steak also, not full of gristle and fat. overall very good eating to great trips. the drinks are also a good price. the Christmas decorations were up today, and they looked really stylish and tasteful. will definitely return to this pub"

"RUDE service when asking about gluten free!! Have ordered gluten free from them several times before but they seem to pick and choose when they can do gluten free meals at the moment. Call one time and can have gluten free and then the next time you call they are not doing gluten free because they dont have a separate fryer when i am well aware they have. Seems like it is too much trouble for them. I have also been told one time that they are not doing gluten free as it was too busy, so us coeliacs have to go without!!"

"The service was good, and the coffee was enjoyable, but I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of the restaurant. I should have known when I saw the dirty glass door upon entry, and the floors and tables were not clean. The toilets and entrance to the toilets were disgusting, so my party ultimately left and used the council facilities at Victoria Square. I doubt I will return, even to see if there have been any improvements, especially considering the current circumstances. It is unfortunate to leave a negative review, but the lack of cleanliness is unacceptable."

"Best afternoon I 've had . Quality and value for money you won 't beat it. All homemade cakes absolutely delish. The quiche and scotch egg are perfect and lovely touch to an afternoon tea instead of just sandwiches. A lovely lady 'I wish I had asked her name ' looked after us all afternoon keeping unlimited amounts of fresh tea and coffee coming our way. Then to top it off a perfectly chilled glass of prosecco. A perfect afternoon for a perfect catch up with my besties. Thank you"

"Paid a visit , as I thought might be an improvement from previous experience, but was worse , The waitress was pleasant and I ordered breakfast with no mushroom and soft egg , The food arrived looked quiet nice yes had no mushroom but again as previously the egg hard , but during the meal , the staff and manager decided to move around furniture to accommodate his 10 friends behind me in a niche that was far too small to accommodate 10 people, asked one guy if he would move his table forward , he was waiting to order his food , a few miylater asked him to move table so he said he’s off !! Then as I just finishing my meal , reached for my cup tea got asked to move , but I felt intimidated so I left paid , and said to waitress not her fault but , I would not return , One waitress said it was a short notice on line booking , other waitress apologetic said the booking was taken months ago as it was his manager) friends , so this should have all being arranged earlier prior to people arriving, and realise that one person monies are just as well earned and probably more regularly visitor that friends , so goodbye omlette, will go elsewhere where my monies appreciated thanks"

"I went to this restaurant to grab a bite to eat. However, after looking at the menu, we were informed that the table we were sitting at was reserved. There was no sign indicating this, and we were not offered another table or alternative seating. Instead, we were basically told to leave without any courtesy. The staff even referred to me as "my darling," which was quite disrespectful considering I am older than them. As a result of this poor treatment, the restaurant missed out on a £60/£70 order. Overall, the customer service was terrible."

"We had a fantastic experience at Lucca last night. Celebrated 18 years in their private room upstairs and the food was excellent, especially the steaks. The service was top-notch and the wine selection was impressive. Definitely one of the best restaurants in Hull."

"I had breakfast veggie) send one egg back due to been over cooked came back with another one very greasy and half cooked) had no butter on my plate and the veggies sausage where cold in the middle, when I told the waiter about this initial he was understanding and went to the chef and came back with an attitude telling me because I had “most of the meal” i could not have a full refund it cost £6 and Change the waiter was unaware that i had given the beans away 5 at the table) so in-fact the cost £6 and some change was a mushroom two eggs one which was sent back), 3 hash browns and two slices of toast. And a tomato which was not touch due to the fact it was so greasy. I was given a full refund but I have left feeling very sad due to the quality of the food, service and attitude from the waiter was unneeded as well as quite conformational as well, also seeing into the kitchen and seeing how I was been looked at by the kitchen staff was unneeded Overall customer service :2food 0 cost: for what you get a 0 Would not recommend the food and staff need training on how to deal with complains as well as not coping an attitude with upset customers"

"First time visiting Frankie and Benny's with a friend. We were politely welcomed to a seat and asked if we would like anything to drink before the waitress left. We asked for some time to decide what we wanted to order. The waitress returned promptly after serving customers who were ready to order. This was reasonable time for us. We then ordered drinks and two courses each. A starter and a main. The drinks were brought over in good time for us to settle and have a chat. The starters arrived not long after. My friend ordered a garlic bread pizza which he described as greasy but tasty. I decided to have the mozzarella dippers which tasted bland, even with the sauce. A couple of them were overcooked. For our mains we ordered a vegan burger with sweet potato fries and a plain 6oz burger with fries. The vegan burger was very tasty, however the sweet potato fries were slightly overcooked but still rather nice. The plain 6oz burger arrived : not plain. It had to be sent back and corrected. However my friend was pleased with it once it came back. We were rather full afterwards and decided to pass on trying a dessert. We asked for the tab and it came back to us at an incorrect amount. We soon realised they charged for a jug of the cocktail I ordered instead of a glass and 2 servings of coke. We brought this up to the waitress and she fixed the issue with the cocktail but informed us that because we ordered the coke from the main menu, instead of the side menu (even though they are the same price) that the refills would not be free. 7/10 food. 6/10 service. Wouldn't be somewhere I'd go back in a hurry as there are far superior eateries for similar prices."

"The restaurant offers some unique and tempting snacks and sandwiches, but on two separate occasions, we had to use paper cups and plates well before closing time. During our most recent visit, at 3:25 pm, they advertise closing at 4 pm on Sundays. Despite having at least 6 staff members, there was not enough to clean dishes. We ended up eating our cakes and coffee while the staff was sweeping and stacking chairs around us. Only a small section of the restaurant was open, with not enough tables for the customers waiting in line. Some customers left, while others ate outside. Additionally, the toilets were located in the closed-off area. Isn't this the time when customers typically stop by after a shopping trip? Perhaps they could consider doing their cleaning after closing their doors if they advertise staying open until 4 pm. For a better experience, we recommend trying Coffee Delight instead."

"Not sure where to start, the unreasonably harsh reviews I have now read since eating here earlier today, the staff or the menu. I was looking for places to eat in Hull and initially overlooked this spot. However, I was able to find the menu online and was surprised to find out how big the café menu is, including vegetarian options. I'm guessing that most customers will go there for the homemade ice-cream, coffee and cakes. We were there for lunch and were far from disappointed. The pizza was of the standard of a good Italian restaurant and the Italian flatbread was excellent too. We both had to try the ice-cream while there which was as good as expected. Will have to try one of the selection of homemade cakes next time! The bill was very reasonable for what we had, good value for money. We didn't seem to have the issue a few reviewers have found in conversing with the staff who we found to be chatty and friendly. Anyway, can't believe this place doesn't have 5 stars on Tripadvisor. Have been to much worse places that do!"

"One of the Best Burger companies locally. The Gourmet burgers are full of flavour, juicy and a good size for the price. The burgers come in brioche buns and are full with the fillings. My partner particularly likes the mushroom swiss (he also adds an extra pattie to the burger). The topped chips are an excellent size and a meal within itself. We particularly like the Chilli Con Carni Fries or the BBQ Pulled Pork. As someone who doesn't eat alot, I tend to get the kids chicken burger (i ask for it southern fried as it's very tasty) and the burger and chips as a perfect portion size. Nothing is too much for the staff. We order off just eat and I can be a fussy eater. They have accomodated my needs on many occasions. The delivery drivers are always friendly and polite also. Highly recommended."
