"We visited the cafe as part of our visit to the reserve which we usually enjoy. The cafe isn't fully open yet, only take away so tables are provided outside. It was a nice sunny day so that wasn't particularly a problem. However in my...view the one way system is Ill considered giving people the long walk around the building once they are loaded up with their hot drinks and snacks. It would seem more sensible to have the entry to the cafe through the shop or by the toilets and then have the shorter walk from side door out to the outdoors tables. I had a ham salad sandwich which was ok, however I noticed that the bread was a bit dry, I suspect not baked freshly that day. I suspect maybe they had over bought for the bank holiday if visitor numbers didn't live up to the predicted numbers. Disposable cups for the tea and coffee, which is not ideal going forward and I hope that normal service will be resumed very soon. My husband had the scone and jam and found that the scone was ok but again, not freshly baked. There was no knife or other implement to spread the cream and jam so he had to improvise with my tea stirring stick which doesn't quite feel the same special experience! We didn't feel we could go back as it would have meant taking on the long winded one way system. I don't understand why the cafe isn't fully open as we are allowed indoor hospitality now and there are lots of Windows to open up there. However, we were at least able to get some refreshment for which we were very grateful."

"We unfortunately visited this restaurant for a birthday meal during a trip away, as it was recommended by some locals we met outside and had good reviews on another site. However, we should have heeded the warning of a table of 4 leaving as we arrived, complaining about not being served after a 30-minute wait. Although we ordered quickly, it took 90 minutes for our starters to arrive, despite being asked multiple times if we had been served yet. We weren't the only ones facing long wait times, as three other tables were experiencing the same issue. The restaurant was not busy, with no large parties, and people were heard complaining on the phone about their food orders not being fulfilled. Our starters were decent, but our mains lacked flavor and were ultimately underwhelming. It was clear that there were kitchen issues, with tables waiting a long time to be served, incorrect dishes being delivered, and some customers never receiving their meals at all before leaving. Unfortunately, the staff's attitude did not help the situation, as they were not apologetic and instead blamed the kitchen for the delays. Some staff members were even argumentative with customers, rather than attempting to resolve the issues. To make matters worse, we were not offered an apology or discount, and being British, we did not want to cause a scene by requesting one. In hindsight, we regret not speaking up, as we received much better service and value at every other establishment we visited over the weekend."

"We decided to stop for Sunday lunch at the County, the sign indicated carvery for £14.95 a head. It was just after 12 (sign said lunch served from 12 so we went in. The lady waiting on (Marj ? greeted us and said it would be about half an hour for food if we didn’t mind waiting. We were in no rush so took a seat. On first impressions the dining area looks lovely. Closer inspection (while you wait! the upholstery on the chairs needs a thorough clean, the paint on the walls needs updating and the floor boards securing (every time someone passed our table it moved! It seems locals go here often and the atmosphere was relaxed. There was a birthday party in the nearby function room and this must have put a pressure on the kitchen. Veg started to be put on the hot plate after about a 50 minute wait and eventually, an hour and 10 Minutes after being seated the food started to come through. A choice of three meats (turkey/beef or gammon . The meats were very well cooked and were tender and moist, however the smallest portions seen. Plenty of veg to choose from and these were kept topped up. Yorkshire puddings were massive (and nice! most diners left after the main course, we had a dessert (jam sponge bought in, definitely not home made. The wait staff were efficient and friendly, let down only by the kitchen and the pressure of a party happening at the same time as lunch. We don’t think there was £15 worth of a carvery, which was a shame as it tasted nice."
