"Visiting from The States for my cousin’s wedding (and surprising the rest of the relatives), we came to Zum Beichstuhl (the “confessional” in English) for what would be a rehearsal dinner in the USA. This restaurant was perfect on all counts. The physical restaurant itself is charming, the service was amazing (my husband doesn’t speak German so all the staff was quick to assist), and the food was wunderschoen. I am probably the world’s greatest aficionada of “Hand Kase mit Musik” and this version was the best I’ve had in decades. The cheese was tender, the onions were sweet, and the bread had no equal. Many of us went with the other recommended menu items and they did not disappoint. The Schnitzel “Wiener Art” with potatoes was beyond delicious. Accompanying this was a complimentary “kleinen gemischten Salat” ... they lied in the “confessional" ... the salad was huge! We also went with the wine of the month, a 2012 Kreuznacher Kronenberg Spaetlese Chardonnay -- we happily drank four bottles. We were all so stuffed that nobody had dessert, which is probably a shame since everything else was so delicious. Again, we were surprising a number of our party, and the staff helped us carry this out to the letter and honored our request to pay the check over the protests of my cousins. And did I mention how reasonable the prices are? Enjoy yourself in a confessional; go to Zum Beichstuhl!"

"Früher war das hier mal die Stammkneipe von Jockel Fuchs, dem legendären Mainzer Oberbürgermeister. Für Reingeschmeckte nichts Besonderes - halt eine von vielen auswechselbaren Adressen in der gastronomisch dicht bestückten Landeshauptstadt. Seit kurzem steht die Goldene Ente im alten Ortskern von Mainz-Laubenheim unter neuer Leitung. Der frische Wind hat dem Lokal sichtlich gut getan. Man betritt es über einen lauschigen Innenhof, in dem man wunderbar sitzen kann. Die Speisekarte ist nicht übermäßig groß, aber doch so reichhaltig und vielfältig, dass jeder Gast etwas für seinen Geschmack findet - sei es nun Fisch, Fleisch, Vegetarisches, Kleinigkeiten oder große Portionen.Sympathisch auch, dass auf Sonderwünsche eingegangen wird und dass alles so spürbar frisch zubereitet ist. Bratkartoffeln können fett-triefend oder kross ein, Schnitzen können in Soße ertrinken oder appetitlich angerichtet sein. In beiden Fällen überzeugt die Enten-Küche. Wer einen Kaffee bestellt, bekommt dazu einen (wahrscheinlich selbst gebackenen) Entenkeks.Man sollte sich diese Adresse merken und hoffen, dass sich der reelle, bodenständige Charakter hält. "the weinhaus kurfürst is an address, at least me, known for many years. the wine house situated in the new city impresses with its original art. back and forth it turns us here for a cozy evening. the quality of the food fluctuates quite strongly. so we were here in november and were thrilled. last Saturday now the quality was unfortunately not as expected, the sauces were simply too thin and not tasteful enough. in the cut we have always been thrilled with eating. Whether the carving or the black medallions, eating is on the point, the bratkartoffeln the absolute hammer and in the normal case also the sose good. especially important: who comes without a reservation plays with the fire. the cursor is actually always full at the weekend in the evening, just call a short time and reserve a table - would be a pity if the way was for free :)"

"Very nice ambience, makes holiday feelings come. Pleasant volume. Very nice family staff. The food was great. Rich. price reasonable. We had an appetizer, two main dishes from the homemade Curry Spa, a dessert (with coconut milk and palm sugar) and two cocktails. That was too strong for me, it was mitigated with coconut milk without any condition. And for free we have a few nice anecdotes of the bartender on the way. A clear recommendation."

Again a Greek... why do my friends always drag me into a Greek? The food was tastefully good, but my pig meal was still raw and the side salad was boring. The rest was good. When my friend was back, we tested the delivery service. It was delivered quickly and the food was delicious. As a sample we have a plate of Taramas with white bread and olives. Was really delicious. The Greek is worth it both as a restaurant and as a delivery service (small shortcomings still need to be fixed....; INFO: Parking is available in the side streets or parks in the hospital. Signs! In summer you can eat in the yard nicely. All Picco bello."

"I was in Mainz on business. As I love Greek food I always try and find a Greek restaurant when I 'm away. I found this place through TripAdvisor. It was the nearest to the Hilton hotel where I stayed. It 's only 10 15 min walk along...the river Rhine. First impression quite small, rustic, open fire and none of the usual Greek background music. A really nice cosy atmosphere. The menu is much shorter than the standard Greek restaurant in Germany. I asked the waiter for his recommendation. He recommended the lamb platter consisting of a lamb chop, a lamb skewer and a lamb fillet. It was served with sliced potatoes (no French fries on the menu), tzaziki and a side salad. The meat can only be described as AMAZING! It 's the closest to the food you get served in Greece. As somebody else commented make sure you are not in a major rush. Food took some time, but I promise you it 's worth the wait. Really friendly waiter. I will definitely be back and can only highly recommend Taverne Naxos!!!"

"if they like fish, this is their place! the quality is always excellent, fresh and tasty. simply do not go here on a Saturday night and complain that there is no space to get. you say you can sit with someone else if there are chairs on an otherwise occupied table - this is quite common for mainz, simply swimming with the stream and getting to know new people:) the staff is always nice and the service fast there are several great options on their menu and always a menu on the table that usually costs by 10 €. the fish is always perfectly prepared and if they want only a small portion, do not hesitate to ask! Some of the employed speak excellent English, but simply practice their German knowledge if they have them."

"Ich war vor 2 Jahren hier, da war es sehr lecker und der Preis war fair. Nun waren wir sehr enttäuscht. Die Bratkartoffeln finden wir leider nicht mehr gut. Die Portionen sind zu klein Die salate nicht mehr so ausgefallen und gut wie vor 2 Jahren und eher Standard mit unpassenden Obst drin, was gerade zu haben ist. Beim 1. Besuch war das Dressing ausgefeilt, spannend mit Granatapfel etc. Pp. Heute findet man Kiwis und normale Äpfel im Salat : Die Preise sind zu hoch. Für einen kleinen Snack mit Bier zahlten wir zu 2. 50 Euro, das ist zu viel! Dazu ist keine Kartenzahlung möglich, warum auch immer: nicht mehr zeitgemäß! Die Speisekarte hat sich generell von bodenständiger Kneipe mit raffinierten Details geändert zu mainstream vegan und Standard. Meiner Meinung nach wurde hier deutlich die Qualität und Quantität herunter geschraubt. Das war die Bewertung von vor 2 Jahren: 4 sterne Rustikales Ambiente, draußen Biertische. Super leckere Bratkartoffeln! Salate und Schnitzel lecker! Preise angemessen und nicht nur Standardbiere vom Fass :"

"from the two places in mainz that serve vegan curry sausages, I like these a little better: the brot they serve with it is really great and they stick more to the recipe that I as a child (only simple tomato ketchup with curry powder in the opposite to a curry ketchup sauce). two of their curry powders are not vegan, so make sure they do not order (I think these are the last 2 of them, you have cheese and one has honey in it). even if there is a waiting snake, they can go by and order a vegan sausauge, as it is always grilled to order and takes about 10 minutes to complete."

"I rarely give such negative reviews for cafes, but I had to for this one. I know the place is new, and they are still figuring things out, but nonetheless it was a completely awful experience. We were requested to come in 15 minutes earlier in order to ensure our order was served on time. Here started the confusion, we gave our order 15 minutes after arrival and the food took 75 minutes after our order to arrive! The smoothies we ordered were 5€ a pop and were from prepacked bags from a company in Mainz (which was not clearly stated on their menu). The food was expensive for what you get, considering everything looked just store bought. All in all, I really am sorry to say that this place can't be recommended. I wish the new owners luck and hope they learn."

You realize that the operators are with heart blood. the service is always friendly and flotted. the food is freshly prepared and is very tasty. we already know the owner from the local of his elders in meadowbaden (pattaya.) a part of the Thai courts was taken over from there and the card is supplemented by further courts. Conclusion: we are pleased that the bobby’s opened in bretzenheim and will definitely be back soon."

"Visited this place with my wife and my colleague (we are here on business trip) today. It seems that this small and cozy restaurant with a warm atmosphere in the evening hours is almost always very busy, especially on Fridays and weekends. If you want to visit, make sure you call them a day or two before the date. The place itself is great. The food is fantastic and the wine from local vineyards is wonderful. My advice is that if you do not order locally in the area and you appreciate wine in every degree, do yourself a favor and do not order beer wine! You won't regret it. The menu lists prices of many different wines for glass (200ml), but you can order a bottle if you wish, just ask the waiter for the price. The service we received was very good. It'll be back."
