"I've slept on this review because this is someone's business and their hard work is important. What was ok good was the starters and the appearance of the restaurant, clearly alot of work went into place. The main thing was service. Sat down just after 17.30 and things were extremely slow. Staff not attentive and at points rude. Had to ask for glasses to be removed as table was getting cramped with dead glasses. Had to ask for more drinks. Had to ask for plates to be removed. Never been in a restaurant where they deliver drinks one by one, dinner one by one, from the point of the 1st meal arriving on the table there was 8 10mins long minutes until the last meal arrived singularly with gaps.... table of 8. Quality of food was poor, cheese burger a stable of a USA themed place was cold, extremely compacted and cold and minus the cheese. Sent back arrived with 2 ice cold slices of cheese stuck on the top. Lamb shank thing was dry, tasted very salty and for the price extremely underwhelming. Chicken on the chicken and ribs was overcook dry and blackened. Ribs were quite nice. Some ingredients seemed cheap..... and for the price point it should not seem cheap. To be fair the curry was very nice and maybe we caught the place on a bad day. I did speak to the owner who apologised but not really accepting of any negative comment. A three plus hour visit which felt drawn out and overall unimpressed."

"Highlights: Booked the Christmas Lunch menu for 8 people, Pre Ordered. Arrived and no Christmas Lunch was available. Ordered from the Sunday Lunch menu instead. Waited ages for the food, which did not come out at the same time. Quality of the food was actually good but it 's not an experience I wish to repeat. Complained numerous times. No idea who was responsible probably never find out. 5 weeks ago I made a phone booking for 8 people for the Christmas Lunch menu. I visited in person 3 weeks ago with a Pre Order of our food choices and provided written confirmation of the booking (and paid a £10 per head deposit . Imagine my surprise when I turned up to find we would not be provided any of the Christmas lunch we had ordered. The reason the Kitchen (which is run as a separate business!! had recently been changed to new management. I enquired why had nobody thought to contact me after all I have provided a written booking well according to the Bar Manager that was someone 's fault but not hers, but she would investigate. We were offered the Sunday Lunch menu instead. We asked to see the menu and had a mobile phone thrust forward as, at the time, they hadn 't got any physical menu 's. The starters were all fish seafood related. 3 of the party decided to select the white bait. We wanted to order our Mains at the same time but the Server never came back. After waiting 40 minutes I returned to the Bar Manager and asked why we were waiting so long. She visited the Kitchen and was told they were just plating them up, and they did arrive shortly thereafter. After Starters were consumed we were able to order our Mains. We feared this may also take some time to appear...and we weren 't disappointed. About 40 minutes later the Server came out with one meal, and we had high hopes the remaining 7 meals would come out rapidly thereafter. No, but another table did receive their order. Our 'lucky ' diner almost finished their meal before the rest of us were able to start to enjoy ours. 15 minutes from 1st meal to last meal. The Roast we had was good quality, well cooked and extensive. If we wanted Salt, Pepper, Napkins, Sauces etc that wasn 't on offer, but available if we asked! We had intended to have a Desert but as we 'd already been there 2 hours and none of us could stand the thought of waiting another prolonged period for the final course we decided to call it a day. I returned to the Bar and asked for an itemised Bar bill, which I got and checked, and paid it. When I turned around the Server was next to me thrusting her card reader at me. I said I wanted an itemised bill and she disappeared. When she re appeared she had written the items we had ordered on her pad and the prices for each. I agreed to pay some of the Food bill (2 3rds but not the full bill. I explained the reasons for my decision to the Server and the Bar Manager. In view of the issues I experienced I asked to speak to the Owner. I was told he was not available so I asked if he would call me to discuss my experience, hence I have waited 2 days expectantly for his call before publishing this review. I 'm pretty certain that I 'll never get a call but I wouldn 't be surprised if he replies to this review with some rubbish. If anyone has ever visited a pub restaurant where you are told they operate as 2 separate businesses please let me know...and I 'll avoid it like the plague!"

"We came for our Christmas Dinner, which as you can imagine was pretty expensive. Having processed the whole thing a few days later, I can only conclude we were badly ripped off. The best thing I can say about it is that the staff are very nice and friendly, there was a fun atmosphere in there, but the food was the stuff of school meals. For starters we all had pate. Pate and toast is impossible to mess up. Following that, came the Christmas fayre, I had turkey with all the trimmings. Firstly, you had to put up with it arriving with gravy all over it, and none extra in a gravy boat. The kids did not want gravy but I wasn 't about to start scraping it off onto my plate. The first massive disappointment was the Brussels sprouts, two of which were quite hard, some a little softer, but none cooked enough to be fit for Christmas dinner. I know it isn 't the fashion to boil veg to death these days, but neither should it be raw. The carrots weren 't much better, large under-cooked slices. There were two types of potatoes, boiled and roasted. If you 're going to do two, I prefer mash. However, if it were to continue in school meal style mash would be worse. It would probably arrive looking like it had been put on with an ice cream scoop just like at school. The turkey meat was tough as old boots. Usually the fault with turkey is dryness, but somehow it was very chewy and in thick slices. There was a lot of it. I mean, LOADS. Absolutely loads. The roast potatoes were curious. One of the kids said they were like Spanish chips by which she means patatas bravas. And they were. They tasted nothing like roast potatoes. The smell reminded me so much of school dinners. Potatoes from a British canteen. The desserts were alright, after all, you can 't really mess up a cheesecake you bought from a supermarket. The blob of whipped cream from a can was less than generous though. On the way home, I started to realise I 'd been had. For what we paid in there, we could have had an evening out in a proper French Bistro in San Sebastien, chomping on moules and langoustines cooked by a Michelin star chef. I did enjoy the general atmosphere. It is a very British place and that was pleasant. To share with my countrymen the meal that most represents our national character made it worthwhile. I also hate cooking Christmas Dinner these days. It did, however, remind me not to take my kids reaction to my Christmas Dinner too personally. They didn 't eat much of this one, either. At least I do eat my own and it is made to my liking. We may be staying home next year. I 'll save my pennies for the next time we 're in a country where the natives can cook."

"We were very disappointed yesterday evening. Now we have been coming here for years from young children, as we grew up in weedswood. And we know the owner Toni and have done for many years and we have never ever had any issues here in the past. The food is usually outstanding, staff are generally polite but yesterday evening we made a booking for a family meal. We came in to be standing at the door for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to approach us and sit us at our table, the staff acknowledged us several times but still made no effort to come over to us which resulted in us going over to the bar to find out where are table was. As soon as we walked in the pub, everyone just stared over at us like we were inhuman and I genuinely feel it was because my husband is foreign. We were receiving vile looks. We then ordered our food and drinks that came to £65. And when the food arrived we was so disappointed. We ordered a meal from the menu that didn’t state it had cinnamon on top on the menu, it was chicken and the chef had literally just threw cinnamon powder on top it was absolutely disgusting. We then asked if we could have the same again without the cinnamon due to an allergic reaction. Which when we ordered at the bar we was not asked if there is any allergies anyway, but even if we were it was not stated on the menu so how can we be aware. The manager on that shift then came over looked at us like absolute filth. And said we can’t do you that again you can have something from the pub classics which are £8 now we had just paid nearly £15 for the meal. So we refused, and he said that we should of logged onto the app and looked for allergic reactions before ordering never ever have I experienced such bad customer service and another lady in the pub witnessed all of this and came over to us and acted said good on you as she noticed the way we were treated. In the end my husband asked for a burger and chips and was up all night throwing it up anyway. My sister whom also asked for steak medium it was raw inside. Now we own 3 businesses which to one is a restaurant and never ever would we treat any customer in this way. Genuinely if someone isn’t happy with their food it gets replaced. Not every excuse made. We also added on our booking we needed one high chair that we never got The manager then went back over the bar complaining and speaking very high to the other staff looking over at our table which is very unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable at this point. The management is very very poor and so is the staff here now and it’s such a shame as I used to love this pub. And they used to be very respectful and welcoming. And in regards to the chef he clearly doesn’t know how to cook. So I am not happy at all with our experience. And I will be reporting to trading standards."
