"We nipped into this pub after mooring for the night. I’m leaving this review because I was blown away by the place. The lady at the bar (sadly I didnt catch her name gave the most friendly welcome I have ever received walking into any form of hospitality. Better than some 5* restaurants I’ve been too (no joke!! there was great facilities for dogs. The drinks were very reasonably priced. However, the headline, the homemade white chocolate cheesecake, please please please never get rid of that. Amazing! We didn’t eat from the main menu however I definitely would have if we hadn’t already of eaten the food looked class. Top pub, fully deserved 5* review. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"Absolutely loved it here! So much that we came 3 days in a row whilst on holiday. The scones are amazing, salads lovely, afternoon tea the best I've tried and 2 fussy children were very happy with their food. The service was 10/10. "We can't rate the food here highly enough. All the ingrediants are sourced locally and used to create the most flavioursome gorgeous food that I have had in a very long while. We started with the Smoked Salmon from Brancaster. It was accompained by Crispy Capers and horseradish citrus. We had some cheeky scrumptious artisan bread on the side which was so naughty but nice. For mains I had the Pork Steak, served with spiced pumpkin puree, sauteed mushrooms and apple caramel. OMG words cannot express how delicious this was. My partner went for the Wolverton Lamb served with roasted root veggies, black pudding mash and whisky lamb sauce. All washed down with a bottle of crisp, cold muscade, we finished off with the Cheese board and a heavy red. Oh what a treat!! The team are absolutely amazing. They are actively listening and looking to properly serve the customer and that is rare these days. I can't rate the Saracen's Head highly enough."

"What a disappointment. Haven 't been here for some time, and we were so looking forward to our visit based on our previous experiences. On arrival, we were surprised at the scruffy waiting staff. A miniscule pickle selection was brought to us along with a couple of poppadoms. We were asked if we wanted drinks, and I requested a bottle of sparkling water. The waitress returned to say the bottles hadn 't been put in the fridge... I requested tap water instead, l was later asked if the bottle was now cold enough? no! From our seats i observed customers struggling to get in and out of the toilet, I realised the issue was due to the storage of a high chair in front of the door! We put in our orders with the waitress; when our starters arrived, my husband was brought the wrong dish. The waitress shouted at the owner ? that 'he didn 't want it '. Obviously, it took some time to prepare his starter, by which time I 'd finished mine. Our mains arrived. This time, my husband had requested the chicken option but was served the more expensive lamb version. We decided to say nothing as we didn 't want to repeat our first course experiences! We had ordered Onion Bhajis as a side, which I would definitely question whether they were homemade as they were like hard golf balls! We ordered 2 coffees, whilst waiting a large mixed age group arrived and sat themselves all over the restaurant. The ones next to us then proceeded to let their child play a loud game on his IPad. One would have hoped the staff would have requested they desist. The group proceeded to call out to each other with no regard for other customers. The 2 waiting staff and owner struggled to deal with taking their orders and appeared to have completely forgotten their other customers... We asked again for our coffees, which eventually arrived. The disturbance created by the new customers meant we rushed our coffee so we could leave. The main food was pleasant, but the chaos ruined the meal. The prices remain high, but the food and restaurant as a whole do not justify these charges! It is unlikely we will return here, Parking: The nearest car park is about 10 mins walk away and is free after 6pm"

"We arrived in Blakeney and spotted the Kings Arms. We fancied a pint. We saw the landlord outside who was holding a ladder. He made no effort to speak. My partner asked if the pub was open. The landlord said it was closed for a week and it stated this on all the doors and windows, in a very brusque manner. It clearly pained him to speak to us. Therefore I apologised to him, for having to speak to us. We went on our way. Around the corner we spotted the Blakeney Hotel. We sat outside on the terrace with our dogs and enjoyed a pint and delicious sandwiches with lovely service. It was a relief the Kings Arms was closed. I would like to thank the landlord for being so utterly charmless, so we won’t bother him again on our next visit to Blakeney."

"We had lunch here in august 2023. Really wished we’d chosen somewhere else. We longingly looked out of the window to the other eatery we should’ve gone to. We were met by a frosty waitress and given a table. On the plus side, the service is pretty quick and the seafood platter is very nice, but pricey. The restaurant is really just the table section of the Edinburgh inn. You’ve to get drinks at the bar, the chap behind the bar is a bit gruff especially if you’re not local. We had lamb shanks and noticed some odd blue specks in it. The chef came out and took it away to inspect it. She came back and told us it’s nothing to worry about, it’s bits from the label of the mayonnaise jar. Great! I wish I’d asked for extra bits of label in my lunch. There wasn’t even an apology. We asked for another meal and she said “are you sure because you’ve eaten most of it” which seemed to be a dig at us complaining. They begrudgingly took the Mayonaise label meal off the bill. Still no apology though. There are plenty of really nice places to eat in Wells, sadly this isn’t one of them."

"Been to chubby panda many times, but fir the last year, I stopped as the food had down down hill. As now in 2023 thought I give them another chance and this time the food was good. "I had a fantastic birthday meal at the Victoria Hotel. They made it special by giving me a birthday card. I started with delicious tomato and mozzarella bruschetta paired with Pinot Grigio wine. The sea bass for the main course was perfectly cooked, and the Pinot Noir Rosé wine complemented it well. I also enjoyed an espresso martini at the beginning. For dessert, the four cheeses with Armagnac were a great choice. The service by Flo and the team was attentive, and the restaurant had a great ambiance. Both my partner and I had a wonderful evening, and the bill of £149 felt like good value for the quality and quantity of food and drinks. Thank you, Victoria Hotel!"

"Last week my daughter and son in-law came home to Cromer for a quick visit for the night and they fancied an Indian takeaway meal. We tried to order one from our favourite Indian restaurant in Sheringham but it was closed for the night. So instead we went to Cromer Tandoori for a takeaway. The meal cost £50 and to say we were dissapointed was an understatement. Most of the dishes were mediocre at best, the containers were not full, especially the rice. The issue we had was with the Chicken Korma and the Chicken Tikka Korma. I poured the Chicken Tikka onto the plate and it ended up spilling onto the kitchen surface. Korma is normally a lovely thick and creamy sauce but this was orange coloured water, the same happened with the chicken tikka koma. I tasted it and it tasted of nothing, I really mean no taste, if you count tap water as a taste then you may be happy with these dishes. I called the restaurant and explained what we thought of the meal and was told we will take care of you I offered my name but they said there was no need as I just need to tell them again what I 'd just explained to them on my next visit. I wasn 't happy at all with this, there was no apology and it seemed that this was quite normal for them. I had an issue many years ago with a meal I had from there and their idea of taking care of us was half price off one dish when we decided to give them another try. I believe £3.50 off a ruined meal that cost me £50 is unaceceptable. My issue was more with the way they dealt with my complaint. My daughter then called too see if she could get any sense from them. They said there were only twi members of staff working, it was very busy and they were having problems in the kitchen. She was told the same about taking care of us but would not take our name or any details. I didn 't expect a full refund but I felt a refund of the two dishes that were unedible would have been the least they could have offered. I hope the owners read this and understand they can 't treat customers this way. I think they rely on the fact that most people won 't ask for the offer of being taken care of and just won 't return and rely on holiday makers to make their money. Please contact me and make an effort to put things right, locals deserve better!"

"For the past 6 years I have been taking my mum who is 88 years this week to this restaurant for lunch for her birthday and it has always been excellent. The service is ideal for a special occasion as it makes you feel special and the food has been superb. We went to the restaurant on Saturday and everything started off well, lovely starter, excellent service and friendly staff. Then we got the main course which was such a disappointment. The beautiful Cod was full of bones. The menu didn't say that the fish was not filleted. The chips were about 3cm square and although they tasted lovely the middle of the chips were uncooked. The mashed peas were very dry. We had to send the meal back because we couldn't eat it. I was very worried that my elderly mother would choke on a bone. When i went to reception to pay I was asked if everything was okay and I explained that the fish was not filleted. The manageress who was also at the reception desk was very snotty and said that all fish has bones and suggested that i order squid in future. I tried to explain that we had fish and chips out often and have never had bones in the fish. She was very dismissive and due to the attitude of this member of staff we would not go to this restaurant again. A simple apology would have been enough for us to return but avoid the fish. It is such a shame as we have always enjoyed our visits to this restaurant. If you decide to visit then beware of the Fish!"

"This Thai restaurant located in the heart of Sheringham is excellent! We ordered takeout from here twice and were very happy with the food both times. The dishes were freshly prepared and cooked beautifully, with just the right amount of heat and spices, and the vegetables retained their crunchiness. When we went to pick up our orders, the staff were polite, friendly, and super efficient. The restaurant itself looked cozy and comfortable, and was busy while we waited for our food. The prices are very reasonable and the wait time for takeout orders was very quick."

"Wiveton Hall has a fantastic location with views over the salt marshes and on to the sea. An ideal place to stop for breakfast or a refreshing daytime drink as I’ve done over the years and have been a return visitor many many times. But sadly no more! In the past the food and service has been some of the best around but my experience this time left me feeling disappointed, no longer the friendly table service we used to have, but we now have those annoying table buzzers to alert you when your food is ready, which are more suitable to a noisy nightclub then an idyllic country setting. But the breakfast I received this morning was worse than I ever had from a roadside café, fried egg, which quite honestly should’ve gone straight in the bin as it was more like a frisbee than a fried egg, sausage which tasted very economy and bacon which I’m sure was locally sourced, but was poor. Sour dough toast, which you could break your teeth on, cans of drink which were expensive rather than the home made original drinks we all preferred. Missed opportunity to continue to be one of the jewels in the crown of North Norfolk."

"We ordered a selection from the menu, including a fish platter and mozzarella sticks, but were disappointed when the dishes arrived. The food did not seem to be locally sourced or homemade, but rather appeared to be processed, frozen items that were simply deep fried. We found most of the dishes to be inedible and overpriced, with the exception of the salad. After finishing our drinks, we paid and left, feeling let down by the experience. While we always try to support local businesses, we were expecting better quality food based on the restaurant's description. We are unsure if we just made poor menu choices, if it was an off night for the restaurant, or if this is the usual standard. The website also seemed to be incomplete in some areas, such as the menu section. Despite reading some positive reviews, our own experience did not live up to our expectations. We hope that this was just an isolated incident and wish the restaurant the best of luck in the future."

"From all we'd read, this pub should be an ideal spot to eat dinner on a summer evening by the river. When we went there, it certainly looked ideal which is why we stopped and went to the bar to order food. For some bizarre reason, when the pub was far from busy, we were told there would be an hour's wait for food. This was at 8pm and they stopped serving food at 9pm so we weren't sure how that was going to work. An hour? When there was hardly anyone there? I guess that's why it was quiet... and also why people were sitting in their riverside beer garden eating fish chips from the chippy across the road. Which is where we went instead."

"We stopped by for coffee in the late morning and ended up making a reservation for lunch after noticing that the restaurant was dog-friendly and the menu looked appealing. After a stroll along the seafront, we returned for lunch and were promptly seated in the conservatory, a cool spot for our two small dogs. The servings were generous and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his sweet potato chilli curry. I opted for the gammon steak with fat chips, two fried eggs, and Boston baked beans, which was also delicious. The Boston baked beans were the best I've ever tasted! The portions were huge, and although I couldn't finish mine, my husband had no problem polishing it off. The dishes were nicely presented and the service was excellent. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"We had an evening meal at Sands. The restaurant was cold, with only 3 other tables occupied on a Saturday evening. We ordered the ‘special’ King prawns with chorizo, garlic butter and crusty bread. The prawns were not fresh prawns, they were the mass frozen prawns you can buy from cash and carries from Thailand. They had no flavour. The chorizo was the tiny diced chorizo that you can often get from supermarkets, again not very good quality. The bread was packet bread, not even fresh bread from a bakers. The portion was very small, for £8.50 I’d expect good quality food or a decent portion, this was neither. The waiter did not deal with the complaint very well, telling us that no one had ever complained about the dish before he obviously hasn’t looked on here before! We ordered various mains, all were ok. The wine menu was very poor, only about 6 7 choices of red wine, when we ordered a bottle we were told it was not available. Overall we the restaurant lacked atmosphere, the food was below average and the service was not very good. We have visited several pubs in Wells that all served much better quality food, with far better atmosphere and service."
