"Who would have thought this little gem of a cafe could exist in Clevedon? An eatery where meat eaters can sit down with vegans or vegetarians, knowing that the food will be equally delicious… and they seem to be able to deal with food intolerances and allergies too. The chefs Nic and Denise are superb, creating good quality, tasty food with fabulous flavours. The service was great very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and attentive. The coffee was perfect with options for dairy free or organic milk and a selection of gluten free sugar free diary free and raw chocolate treats for afters. I can’t wait to go back to try out more… If you like good quality food, made with love, this is the place!"

"This historic pub is the last treehouse in the village and during lockdowns has been extensively upgraded inside and the courtyard has been upgraded. Homemade food is served seven evenings a week and Sunday roasts are normally available at lunchtimes until the evening menu kicks...in at pm. Landlord Carmino is a great chef and his speciality homemade pizzas are availed nightly to eat in or take away. They are absolutely delicious and my favourite is the seafood. We had a Sunday roast in the pub and it was incredible. Generous helping of meat with all the trimmings. Couldn’t believe how many freshly cooked vegetables came with it dishes kept arriving almost mezze style. I highly recommend this lovely pub which is a great place to go for a drink or a meal."

"We booked a table for 2 for dinner, we were visiting Weston Super Mare for the weekend so booked here based on the location reviews and we wasnt disappointed! From the moment we walked through the door, the service was fantastic. We were seated straight away to our table, asked if we would like a drink and given the menus. The menu has a fantastic selection, we couldn’t believe how much choice there was and there was a specials board too! I chose pate for starter, then we had chilli con carne spagetti bolognaise for mains. The portions were a great size, presented really well delicious! Throughout the evening, the service continued to be exceptional. The female male who served us all evening were lovely (unfortunately, i didn’t get their names) . We had apple pie choc fudge cake for dessert which again were delicious! The portion of the choc fudge cake was huge! We will definately be coming back when we are next in the area in a couple of months time. Thankyou to the staff for making our evening lovely!!!"

"Went with family for Sunday roast (we have been here many times before) They said only beef and turkey left which we found out later was untrue Today the food took over a hour when we started eating the beef was terrible uncooked potatoes and gravey that had pepper in not good the head waiter's said ill go and see what I can do did she No we were still hungry so had a pudding I had Eaton mess which just had ice cream and cream no fruits only to be told it had coulis well it was terrible and cost the earth My sister told the owner/manager about our concerns who became very rude and told her the meal next Sunday would cost £150 can't believe his attitude I was 1 of the 1st customers he had when he took over this once thriving pub Won't be ever going there again and will let my friends know to eat somewhere different where customers are treated with some respect"

"We went to this pub for a Sunday roast with my in-laws, two young children, and our dog. The restaurant was extremely welcoming to children and pets. The roast dinner was absolutely fantastic! The portions were very generous, especially the children's roast. My kids, aged 6 and 3, had plenty to share. We will definitely be coming back again. Additionally, the pub has a charming garden area that both the kids and dog enjoyed."

"We were seated at a lovely table by the window at this restaurant. The service was quick and the waitress was very enthusiastic. My husband enjoyed his small English breakfast. I asked if the vegetarian sausages were vegan, and the waitress assured me they were, as they were made from vegetables. However, I should have realized they were not what I expected, as they turned out to be a cheap, mushy mix of peas and potatoes in batter. Despite trying to salvage them with ketchup, I ultimately left them uneaten. There are many delicious vegan sausages available nowadays, so it was disappointing to have a subpar experience with such an expensive breakfast."

"We came here, as we often do, for lunch! The portions are generous and so inexpensive! There were no crisps on our plates this time, so my daughter asked the barista for some, and hey presto they arrived in two little dishes at no extra cost! We are always thrilled to come here, for the food, the ambience, the wonderful surroundings!"

"Our two night stay was wonderful. From the moment we arrived we could see the hotel is clearly following covid guidelines with sanitiser at the door and a one way system. Our room had a fabulous view of the beach, which is accessible via a path literally over the road. We were given a free upgrade to a cooked breakfast to comply with covid restrictions about buffet style food. We are in the restaurant, which seems very popular, both nights. Again it is clear they have made changes to comply with social distancing. The food was excellent, good quality and good sized portions. I would highly recommend this hotel, indeed I already have."

"Staying at the Anchor Head hotel up the road we were going to visit the Claremont Vaults pub at lunch time while waiting for the room. Unfortunately it was closed, contrary to the times published on their web site. Being a bit out of town we were at something of a loss, until we noticed a sign for the Terrace Cafe Bar. This place is exactly what the title describes, a cross between a cafe and a bar. There is a very nice area at the back where you can sit in the sun (if it 's out! and look out over the estuary. They have a good selection of beers and reasonably priced too. We had been intending to get fish and chips for lunch at Nelson 's next door, but there was a notice on the door saying the business had been closed down. Not our day really, but luckilly they do food at the Terrace. We both had the Brunch , basically an English breakfast, which was cooked nicely, but at £6.50 we would have expected a bit more. The guy behind the bar was friendly and helpful, and the place has a smart, clean appearance. All in all, this is a nice place to visit and we would return if in the area again."

"I went to the coffee shop and while we were in the queue one of the servers took some blue kitchen roll and blew her nose twice, we watched and waited for her to go and wash her hands but she put the tissue in her pocket and started serving the customers. I mentioned it to one of the ladies serving that she should go and wash her hands as she was breaking hygiene standards but nobody was interested, other customers also commented but nothing was done. I went to the customer service team who were more than happy to deal with my complaint. I find it absolutely disgusting that she would not wash her hands and I Will Not be going back there for food!!!!!!!"

"Once again, we were warmly welcomed upon arrival at Il Gardino. We sat in the winter garden and ordered drinks while perusing the menu. We were advised on the specials and how they could be prepared for us. Our choices arrived promptly, with beautiful new chairs brought to our table. For starters, we had king prawns, avocado prawns, mozzarella, and scallops - all beautifully presented and served piping hot by attentive but discreet waitstaff. We were given time to enjoy our starters before they were cleared away to make room for our main courses. We chose heavy fish, tuna steak, veal escalope, and spinach ricotta tortellini - all delicious and served with perfectly boiled fresh vegetables and sautéed potatoes. And then came the desserts! Italian bread and butter pudding, meringues, brandy ice cream, lemons and prosecco sorbet - all served in elegant glasses. The brand and medaillenpuden desserts were brought out with lit candles as two of us were celebrating birthdays. Overall, it was a fantastic evening at Il Gardino and the staff truly made it a special meal. It may be a bit pricier, but the quality is well worth it. This family-run restaurant has been carefully renovated and is truly a gem."

"We were staying in the area and fancied a Sunday lunch. So glad we called in. The roast on offer was pork or beef. We both chose the beef, which was served with a yorkshire pud, boiled and roast potatoes, carrots and cabbage. The beef was very tender and tasty as was the rest of the food,you got a good plateful so we couldn't have managed a sweet. The service was very speedy. Price was £9.50 each. It wasn't too busy and it was 2 o'clock. There was a Hungry Horse over the road so whether a lot of people went there I don't know but we have always found their food sub standard so no contest really! Would definitely return if in the area again. There is a holiday park right next door so I imagine it would get very busy in high season."

"I have been coming to Grounded once or twice weekly for over a year, I live locally and it has always been a lovely spot for a coffee and to get a couple of hours of work done outside of the house. I always leave at lunch time when it gets busy or when all the tables are full. I visited this week and the lady serving was extremely rude, there were lots of spare tables and I was first asked to move and then told that I couldn’t stay with my laptop. I understand this policy when the cafe is busy, but it wasn’t even half full at this point. I am a regular and have spent a lot of money here in the last year and was shocked at how I was treated during this visit. I suggest some common sense on this!"

"My partner and I came in for some quick Sunday brunch on 24 October 2021. Just as a rant, I am mystified as to why local independent cafes are apparently no longer open on a Sunday. We went to two on Milton High Street and every other cafe on Worle High Street was closed. If I ever hear an independent whinge about chains taking over, I will let loose. If you want custom, open your doors. So, we had never been to Muffins before. It was reasonably busy and got busier whilst we were there. Perhaps a bit unsurprising given they were the only cafe open on the High Street, but more power to them. Some tables were reserved. Once sat, we were very promptly asked by a young lady if we would like any drinks and were given menus. We had a bananna milkshake and a mocha. Both were just as good as you would get at any chain in my opinion. We ordered food. I had toast with poached eggs and bacon. My partner had a cheese and bacon panini. Both were okay. Better than breakfast type food you would get at a Wetherspoons in my opinion. Once finished, our plates were taken quickly and we were asked if we wanted the bill or if we would like anything else. The staff said bye as we left. What more can they do? People giving this place a bit of a hard time need to lighten up a bit. It is not pretentious and it certainly is not trying to be something it is not. The staff are polite and who I assume was the owner was running around serving and taking plates and being friendly with customers. The prices are very reasonable and the food is just as good as anywhere else, but customer service politer and better than a chain. I would rather spend my money somewhere such as this. In the context of other cafes, four stars. Three for food, four for value and service."

"So disappointed and such a shame ! Travelling down to Weston to visit friends we nipped in to the Oxford for a late dinner as we had been travelling !! Outside a board saying meals for a Tenner so we thought great ! Popped...in ordered pints and went to order the special to be told it finished a hour earlier !! No time was on the board and if that was the case bring the board in ! So because he had ordered and started our drinks we ordered burgers off the menu at point of ordering at no time did the staff inform us the the burger came with nothing !! No attempt to upsell chips etc and it came a lonely burger on a large wooden server ! The burger was homemade and very nice but our experience was tainted by lack of information !! The staff were friendly but shame that we were not fully informed ! Very tasty but not enough for each !!"

"My experience at this restaurant in late September was overall okay, but the service was slow. I decided to give it another try a week later, only to wait 50 minutes for a side salad and pasta dish. Unfortunately, both visits ended with receiving a £100 parking fine for not registering my vehicle, which was not communicated by staff or signage. This lack of communication is unacceptable, and it has resulted in locals avoiding the venue. I now have two fines amounting to £200, which I am currently appealing. I have no intention of visiting this restaurant again, as the hassle and additional costs are not worth it."

"After our trip, we returned to Finland. Shortly after, I received a message from SIXT stating that they had paid a £100 parking ticket on our behalf, along with a handling charge of £30. I was confused by this unexpected charge, but later learned that ParkingEye Limited had issued the ticket to SIXT as the car was a rental and had parked in the hotel lot without the necessary permit. I immediately contacted SIXT and explained that we had parked to have breakfast, providing the receipt from the restaurant as proof. After three weeks, SIXT informed me that they would refund £80 of the amount, effectively taking £20 from me. I am uncertain if SIXT will also refund their £30 handling charge since the refund is not full. I am sharing this experience because the Holiday Inn in Bristol did not assist me in resolving the situation. I reached out to them via email and Facebook but never received a response. All I needed was for them to inform Parking Eye that there was no valid reason for the ticket, prompting them to retract it. Instead, I feel like a victim of what seems like legal robbery in their parking lot, with the company avoiding responsibility."

"This is first time I have eaten here since the upgrade. Went with two friends one had a meal and soft drink. The judt hada soft drink. I chose the fish and chips meal with coffee offer of the day. Prompt srrvice and the buzzer system of telling you your meal is ready to collect from the pass. I am hearing impaired so i could enjoy talking to friends rather than listening for number. Joy of joy all the components of the meal were hot and well flavoured. Quality sliced lemons with which enhanced the quality of the fish. The peas were flavoured with mint, very refreshing. Fish was flakey and melt in the mouth. Hot chips with a crisp finish. The coffee is machined produced rather than an espresso machine. Temperature was spot on and flavoured beautifully. So many cafes could take a leaf out of the Waitrose team and perfect coffee each time. Now my friends are moving to Portishead i can get great food /coffee every time i visit."
