"We visited Turtle Bay in Peterborough tonight for a special occasion and it was a complete disappointment from start to finish. When we arrived we were told to head to the bar, we were stood there for 10 mins and no one looked at us to serve us. When our table was ready, we were given two circle tables for 6 completely anti social and hard to talk. This was smoothed over by a bottle of Prosecco thank you. When our starters came, 2 were forgotten about and you could clearly see the chef having an issue with the fact he hadn’t made two of our starters….so half of us had finished our starters before others had theirs. When mains came, we asked for knife and forks, they took so long to come our meals were cold at this stage it was pointless sending them back to be reheated. The above made worse by the fact we were sat right in a busy walk way, right next to the restaurant door that was kept open 90% of the time we were in there. Not only this, but one main came wrong and the Mac and cheese had zero sauce and was ultimately just cooked pasta. A glass of water and a portion of chips as a side for the main was also forgotten. The other (warm) food was great, and cocktails too. When we had the bill delivered, there was a service charge that we took off but I don’t think this even justified the poor experience we had. We are never the type of people to complain, but our experience was more than bad. Won’t be returning."

"My husband and I often pop to Bar O Sado on Saturday mornings for a latte to get the weekend started in a gentle way. It is a little Portuguese cafe in the centre of Peterborough 's Lincoln Road right next to the bus station. Named after a Portuguese River in the owner 's home town we believe. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff are all warm and friendly. Dora, the welcoming owner, is always keen for us Brit 's to try some authentic Portuguese cuisine in the evenings. We have had many evening meals there, the grilled king prawns and meat kebab dishes are divine and definitely worth a try! After your evening meal you should also try the after dinner fortified wine-just ask Dora as we 've forgotten the name but it seems very popular. The food and drink here are very good value for money. We sometimes eat breakfast there too, we mostly order omelettes and toasted ciabatta although the regular Portuguese bread is our favourite. English breakfast is also available although the mushrooms are tinned so not my favourite. You can also get some unusual light bar snacks during the day both sweet and savoury. Try the caramel 'camel spit ' or, if they have it, the delicious chequer board cake! During the day it can sometimes get very busy with mostly Portuguese clientele milling about and visiting each other 's cafes, especially when there 's a Portuguese football match on TV. It is quite small inside, and it is decorated basic cafe style with a couple of fruit machines at the front. You can see through to the kitchen area at the back where chef is constantly cooking. The restaurant 's seated area is also at the back. The TVs play music channels most of the time in the background. You can just sit at the bar at the front- locals tend to start on the wine quite early! There are also three tables outside the front. Sometimes we will just sit outside and order a cold sagres lager to while away the weekend afternoons. We like O Sado because it is like a mini break away from the British norm if you can forget you are in the centre of Peterborough. The people watching can be an interesting experience. In the summer you can simply chill, listen to the Portuguese conversation in the cafe and imagine you are in warmer climes. Give it a try, sit and watch the world go by at Bar O Sado."

"The Yard Castor is an outdoor restaurant that is connected to the main pub The Chubby Castor. They provide outdoor seating during the summer and a small indoor seating area in case of unfavorable weather. From the moment you are greeted by the staff, you are treated to a five-star dining experience and the staff were exceptional. The Yard places a strong emphasis on sustainability. They take great interest in the origin, sourcing, and ethical considerations of the ingredients they utilize with a guiding principle that food is health. They exclusively use seasonal fruits, vegetables, and meats. You can see a wide variety of fresh produce growing in their garden, which makes up about 70% of their produce. The remaining 30% comes from reliable and environmentally responsible partners. We visited on a Sunday afternoon for lunch when it was not too crowded, and I must say, it was one of the finest roasts I have had in quite some time. Accompanied by two companions, I started with the individually priced Rock Oysters, which were served fresh on a bed of ice. One of my companions opted for the BBQ Pork Belly, which was so delectable that we decided to order another serving. It was cooked to perfection and elegantly presented on a small plate, garnished with sesame seeds. The main event was the Roast Sirloin, roast potatoes, carrots, greens, Yorkshire pudding with a side of Truffle Cauliflower Cheese. My roast was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Although there was a slight delay in receiving our food, it was understandable as the Head Chef was personally overseeing the preparation of each dish. The attention to detail and care that went into crafting our meal was evident in every delectable bite. For dessert, I went for Rhubarb Frangipane Tart which was delightful. It achieved a perfect balance of sweetness and tartness. The combination of flavors was harmonious, and the texture was moist and satisfying. My companion opted for the Chocolate Mousse, which featured several unexpected ingredients such as honeycomb, popping candy garnish, thyme and a balsamic glaze. The combination of these elements resulted in a delightful symphony of flavors that complemented each other exceptionally well. The culinary offerings at this esteemed establishment, nestled amidst the picturesque countryside in a charming village, are simply beyond words. For those seeking an exceptional fine dining experience, this restaurant stands as a beacon of excellence, showcasing locally sourced produce transformed into exquisite dishes with meticulous attention to every detail. The staff, highly trained and exceptionally courteous, go above and beyond to ensure an unparalleled dining experience. Without a doubt, this establishment has set a new standard for Sunday Roast, surpassing all previous encounters I have had. It will be a formidable challenge to find another establishment that can match the extraordinary level of The Yard."

"The initial 1st initial bill completed by the evening manager was incorrect by £10 extra than it should have been £48.40), due to the 2x desssert not taken off the final amount, due to QR code sent Prezzo via email and presented before ordering dessert, but the one pint of beer subtracted which shouldn’t have been. The 2nd revised bill, now the one pint of beer was added back on, and only one dessert was subtracted, when after the initial 1st bill, it was pointed out to the evening manager shown for the 3rd time that evening that both desserts at £7.95 should have been subtract front the bill and not just a single dessert, being an accountant, I even written on the bill that it should be no more than £48.40 1st bill £57.30, 2nd bill £56.35), it was a evening outing to celebrate a specially occasion, which was ruin, at the thought there were 10-12 other customer in pairs during our 2hr at the restaurant, and it clearly appear a deliberate overcharging tactic after highlighting the issue twice, totally disgusting behaviour of the manager, as even the male waiter confirmed upon seeing the free dessert QR code, it was final rectified at the 4th attempt, 10/12 customer every 2hour, on an 8hr shift clearly amount to a health margin mark up, customer definitely need to be vigilant on the final total bill, overall the service, food, alcohol, waiter and waitress were faultless, unfortunately same can’t be said about the manager who appeared to do the final bill for every customer."
