"I’ve had half a dozen good meals here and am sorry I haven’t written a glowing review of this place before. Today’s lunch just so perfectly hit the spot that I have to post. I like trippa, tripe, but only in Italy. Today’s trippa Pisana was hearty and rich and not too much for an elderly eater, better than I’ve had in Florence or Rome. I followed it with a mixed salad which I insisted they dress. They didn’t like the idea, but when I added the flattering prescription that this work needed to be done by a proper Italian, not by me, they relented, and it was an uplifting salad, with nothing like the oily downpour I might have committed. For desert I had the meringue “semi-freddo,” and next time I will have it without chocolate sauce. They didn’t have a good sweet Passito (desert wine), and vin santo wasn’t really the right thing. They didn’t give a limoncello “in omaggio,” meaning free, with the bill, which most restaurants in Italy will do. Nonetheless, I will come back again and again."
