"After a very positive first experience, we decided to renew. we enjoyed traditional fries, excellent (and copied) burgers and very good pastries after a reasonable expectation (1/4 h) being given the quality of the products, all for a very good value for money. What a disappointment during our 2nd visit! we waited 1/2h (more than in a classic restaurant, it's still a fast food). while a tabloid of about 10 other people, who arrived after us, were served before us almost without waiting. I was kind of worried about the hostess who tried to explain to me that it was due to the preparation of my wife’s day dish: a pike! being the exclusive user of barbecue and plancha at home, she should have refrained from using such a rude excuse. It was more simply a privileged habit that we do not wait...During this time, our meat had to wait (also...) on a corner of the grill since it was archi too cooked and then, not good. (Sauce was painfully masking the taste of burnt). Traditional fries have left room for classic industrials. The pie was missing freshness. Only the cheese cake was correct. We do not understand such a change in such a short time, especially when reading the Director's answers to certain negative opinions. but perhaps is he on leave? (when the cat is not there...). One last thing: the breathable hood must work very badly, you take the graillon out and go back to work in the afternoon, it's not great... we won't come back."

"We'd had such a good experience the previous week at the Courtepaille in Troyes, when we were faced with needing to find a restaurant at short notice and without a reservation (our hotel restaurant was closed) we were very relieved to find a Courtepaille close by on the Sat Nav.As for our previous experience, we arrived at about 7.30pm and we greeted by the waitress who showed us (2 adults, a pre-schooler and baby in a pram) to a large table with room around it for the pram and not so close to anyone else that we could unintentionally annoy them. After ordering (the Menu Petit Grill for the grown ups and the Baby Paillou for our daughter) we were, again brought a plate of salami and cornichons, a basket of crusty bread and a bowl of green salad for the grown ups. We all ordered the steak hache and frites and, as it turned out, all the portions were the same size - even our daughter's - which isn't a bad thing as they were all fit for an adult! The hache was tasty and not greasy and the frites were again tasty and crisp. The adult menu also included a choice of drink so I had fizzy water and hubby had a bottled beer - this branch of the Courtepaille didn't have beer on tap (pression) The staff were all friendly and efficient and we must praise our waitress who wasn't snarky and didn't flap when my daughter was ill at the table (we think she'd eaten too fast, rather than something making her sick and it didn't put her off eating the ice cream she chose for dessert!)We're so pleased to have discovered the Courtepaille chain. Taking a chance on new restaurants is all very well, but when you're travelling with small children, predictability and consistency are very desirable qualities. Add into this the excellent value for money provided by the different set menus and the reliable quality of the food, in total this means that we'll continue to look out for branches on our future travels in France. This is also borne out by how popular the restaurant was during our visit - full of patrons and not just tourists."
