"My friend and I visited The Floating Bridge at lunchtime today. I ordered the dressed crab salad etc £26 and my friend ordered steak kidney pie £19. Mine was delicious but what they served my friend was absolutely, without doubt NOT steak kidney pie. What they served was pork and mushroom pie!!! When you have been making steak kidney pie and pork casserole for 20+ years you tend to ‘know the difference between steak, kidney, mushrooms and pork’. When my friend spoke to the gentleman serving us (not sure if he was the owner/manager) and said that she had pork in her pie and no kidney at all he said no it’s not pork it’s definitely steak kidney. So I tasted it. Yep! Definitely pork. Manager walked past us again. My friend said to him that he needed to speak to his chef re what was actually in the pie she had paid £19 for. He then said quite casually as he passed by its chicken mushroom in the pie. To this manager please note what you served was not chicken mushroom it was pork and mushroom. Please don’t insult our intelligence by trying to tell us otherwise. I suggest you find out what your chef is actually cooking, write it on your board AND charge for it correctly. It would also help if you could apologize for the error that had been made. I dread to think what would happen if someone was served this dish and had an allergy to mushrooms. Even though my friend said that the dish was itself very tasty it is not what was ordered and did not warrant a price tag of £19. Needless to say, we decided not to have the cherry pie here as for all we know the cherries could be masquerading as plums or even something else the chef decides upon."

"I don’t write many reviews, and if I do they’re normally positive but I have to comment on our experience last night. To start on a positive, my wife and I both ordered steak which was very pricy at 25 but extremely well cooked. Now. The negatives. The area for dining was absolutely crammed to bursting point. Our table which was booked well in advance was stuffed in a corner, by the bar and entrance to the pool room which meant people constantly hustling past us. Not conducive to a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Plus the dog wandering around the pub unsupervised and stuffing it’s nose onto our table was an added treat whilst eating. Bit of a saga to order the food too. No tab allowed, took menus to look them back to the bar to order only to be sent back to the table for a member of staff to come over with his iPad. As previously stated, the steak was great, as it should be for 25!! The cheap frozen French fries that accompanied it was insulting and I’d expect better for the price. Booked table for 7 pm, stuck in a restaurant with far too many diners and then told to basically hurry up and get off the table by 8.30! A very poor evening out with owners/management clearly only seeing signs. I know it won’t make a difference as it’s the only pub there and very popular, especially in the summer but I certainly won’t return. There’s plenty of holiday makers to fleece so I won’t be missed"
