If £15 for two slices of grey roast beef that were hard to cut and chew and an assortment of nondescript vegetables is a good meal, then it warrants five stars.

My husband and I have visited this pub a lot over the past week to dine and have a drink as we were staying in Halwell. The food has been superb and the staff have been amazing . They have really looked after us and made us feel welcome . Will definitely be back.

We had a family gathering for Sunday lunch and a birthday celebration at this restaurant. The staff were extremely friendly and the food was perfect. Most of us ordered the roast dinner, which was delicious. To top it all off, they surprised the birthday girl with a beautiful candle arrangement and balloons. Ver carta

We went for our first meal Saturday 2nd September it was so good, we went back each day apart from Mon Tues as they closed Juliet staff were really helpful as I have allergies, nothing was too much trouble. Portions were large of excellent quality.Good choice of local beers etc. Menu was wide varied. Will return when next in the area.

Had the most fantastic big birthday family meal here tonight Juliet and staff went all out to make it special decorations and a lovely balloon sculpture . There were 13 of us and all meals came out together and were piping hot. If you want a proper home cooked pub meal this is the place for you. Excellent food varied menu and great atmosphere. Thank you Old Inn for a lovely evening.

Lovely pub with friendly staff. Popular some nights, so best to book your table. Fantastic selection of food from the traditional pub grub (but good quality) to slightly more unusual dishes for those who want something different. Generous portions so good value for money do make sure you leave space for desert. Always eat there at least 2 3 times when we come down on holiday. Let dogs in which is a bonus x Ver carta

This restaurant is incredible! Make a reservation - you will not be disappointed! We had an amazing Sunday lunch here with delicious beef and all the trimmings. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived until we left. The staff really took care of us. The price was very reasonable and we can't wait to come back multiple times throughout the year. Great job to all the staff - we couldn't have asked for a better meal.

We enjoyed a lovely, home-cooked evening meal at the Old Inn, which was just a short drive from where we were staying near Dittisham. My husband chose fish and chips, while I had belly of pork, which was amazing, served with a generous serving of fresh vegetables. We chose the pub because it is dog-friendly and were warmly greeted by the pub dogs, who demonstrated their tricks and shared treats with our dog. The owners made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed chatting with them and fellow diners. We will definitely return to the Old Inn on future visits for a delicious, cosy meal in this friendly, local pub.

This charming traditional pub in a peaceful location offers a great menu with a variety of choices. I particularly enjoyed the option of 'small plates' as I have dietary restrictions after bariatric surgery. The prices are reasonable and the food is delicious. My grandparents, who visit once a month, highly recommended it so I decided to try it out for my birthday. I went with my grandparents and daughter and found the staff to be very attentive and friendly. I would definitely go back. Even though we visited on a Sunday, we were able to see the menus for other days of the week and found some excellent options for my preferences. I am already planning my next visit.
