"I love proper country pubs and this is one of them. What a wonderful find! The food was excellent and served within a very acceptable timescale. The cost was fabulous. As it is Tuesday and therefore pie night, it was £10 for a pie meal and a pint. Excellent value. The service was brilliant especially Jordan who was so welcoming and interactive to just the right degree. Both him and the lovely lady who served us (truly sorry that I failed to get her name) were so friendly and welcoming, and they both had the perfect amount of humour and attentiveness, and both were so very on the ball, even though it was a busy, summery evening. They both made time to chat and to ensure my Service Dog had both space and fresh water, as well as double checking that we were happy and had everything we required. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I had the vegan option of chickpea, aubergine and spinach pie, chips, vegetables and vegan gravy. I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful! If I was made to criticise anything, the only thing I could point out was that, being in the restaurant area, the noise from the swing door at the bar was very irritating. Everytime a member of staff went through it, the door banged like someone repeatedly kicking a football against the wall. Maybe some kind of quietner could be fitted? If it wasn't for this, I would have given The Sun, Kislingbury 5 stars. However, we honestly enjoyed the whole experience of the food, the location, the staff and also included a little drive around the old village, and we will most certainly be back again! Well done to everyone at The Sun, Kislingbury. So very happy to have found such a wonderful place!"

"Attended with a group of 13 family members and the service from our server Grace was excellent she was very attentive and got us our drinks orders and ensured all of the food dishes ordered went to the right person. We had pre ordered our food a few days before as we were a large group. So my son had ordered a steak that listed as follows on the menu Black Angus Sirloin Steak Chunky chip, salad garnish, portobello mushroom and grilled tomato with a choice on Pepper corn or red wine sauce £24.95 When his meal come out the peppercorn sauce was missing so we asked for it. We was told they would have to make it as it was not on the menu.. ok I said. The issue I had was when I went to pay. Now as a large group it was agreed we would pay for what we had in our family groups so I went up 2 pay for 3 meals. I was charged £70.23 as I was not sure if the price of my own dish or my wife’s I tapped my card and got my receipt Back at the table I noticed I was charged £2 for the peppercorn sauce and a 10% service charge had been added at £6.38 Now firstly I was going to give a tip to our waitress Grace along with the rest of the table and nowhere did it say on the menu or at the till a service charge will be added and neither was I asked at the till if I wanted to pay it it was just added I checked with others in our group who had paid and they were either asked or the charge was crossed off the receipt. Disappointed as I knew the service charge would not go to just Grace but probably not to the staff at all. After pondering the £2 for the sauce I went to talk to the staff to ask why I was charged for it to which the Manager who over heard barked back at me rather loudly in front of other customers “why did you not expect to pay for it as it’s a chargeable extra” I responded “well it doesn’t indicate this anywhere on the menu” he then shoved a menu at me and said “read it” I gave it back to him and said “I have and there is no indication of the £2 charge” He aggressively said “all restaurants in Northampton charge for sauces” I was shocked at his reaction as he turn his back on me to walk of so I said “well change your menu to reflect it” He turn back and said “ok I’ll get you £2 cash from the till” “To be honest I said I don’t want it but it’s the principle of it .. you keep it” I went back to my seat and a minute later another waitress came over with £2 cash and awkwardly said sorry. The manager just avoided our table from that point until we left. Spending £250 on the food £100 on drinks we didn’t even get a thank you or goodbye when we left and the place was nearly empty Won’t be going back purely because of his attitude and the added service charge and the hidden costs It’s not as if I could go and get the food myself from the kitchen Serve my self and clear my own table It should be my choice who I tip and how much I want to give. Rant over thanks for reading."

"I come here every year to celebrate my birthday with family, we love the outside area so the kids can play in between courses. I have to say that today is the first time I can safety say I was truly disappointed with it. Having paid a deposit of £160 to hold our reservation and giving them our pre order a couple of days before hand, they still made mistakes. First of all we had our starters which was all good, then my daughter wanted more calamari so I ordered another 2, they came and it was lovely. Then they brought out 2 lamb ragus and I preordered 1, the server was a bit off with me when I said it was wrong, then my daughter (who’s birthday 12th birthday was yesterday) and my nephew got their chicken goujons which were over cooked and burnt at the ends and hard as a rock. I asked were the last two remaining mains dishes were as 2 guests hadn’t got theirs and they had forgot 2 roast beef roasts which those guests (my brother and my 14yr old nephew) had to 15 minutes for after we all had our mains. I mentioned that I wasn’t happy to our server and she came back and said she spoke to the chef apologised for missing she roasts and said because I had ordered and extra 2 calamari it messed cooking if the mains up which was why the chicken goujons were over cooked. My fault clearly. On top of this they whacked on £30 service charge to our £330 bill which they took £15 off at our request. Next year I will be going so elsewhere for my birthday lunch and for any other future celebrations."

"Sunday night we had a long day and thought we'd order a curry as a treat. Ordered direct with their web page. Received confirmation, all around 5.50pm. Asked for delivery for 7pm. 7pm comes and goes, 7.30pm comes and goes. Starving and hoping to eat and get our daughter in bed for a sensible time we then try to ring. No answer. Again and again ringing no answer. 8pm, totally fed up and hungry and having gad to feed our child something else, my partner decides to go pick it up himself. We thought it was in Grange Park just up the road, but it turns out it's the other side of Northampton. Anyway, he goes over only to find the place is shut! Despite receiving an order confirmation and the website saying it was open, and the door sign saying Sunday open. Clearly not getting our curry he returns home empty handed. I messaged them via Facebook, which was read at 9pm and not replied to. Still no reply Monday. I then messaged to check they would not take the money or if they did they would refund. Again read and no reply. Messaged again tonight as money has now been taken from my card. Typically since ordering and having problems I am now seeing no end of bad reviews and problems people have experienced and how they never reply. Tomorrow morning I now have to ring my credit card to try and get my money refunded. I also found out tonight they have a 1 star food hygiene rating given on 5/4/19. DO NOT USE!"
