"We dined here twice in our week's stay. The landlord and his wife were both friendly and very accommodating and, despite being busy, were able to squeeze us in as a group of 7 on the first occasion (we booked after! . The food is pub fayre, well done and good portions. I had the haunch of venison which was good. Service was efficient and despite being busy they got the food out quickly. The restaurant area at the back is a nice spacious area and they have a play area out the back for the kids to let steam off. Price wise it was good value at about £25 per head for 2 courses, drinks and service. Definitely go back next time we're down in Hartland"

"The restaurant has a quirky and simple interior design, but the nearby table was being used as a collection point for takeout orders. It would be better if they had a separate area for takeout, even if it was just sectioned off. This would improve the dining experience in my opinion. The establishment feels more like a takeout place where you can sit and eat, rather than a traditional restaurant. However, the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service for dining in was satisfactory."

"Easily the best Indian takeaway in Bideford. All the usual fare plus some great chef's specialities (love the Naga curry). Generous portions too. Just make sure that you order direct to benefit from discounts on collection orders or free Bombay potatoes. You don't get those through Just Eat!"

"This place was so phenomenal! I got my outdoor dining fix. It's disturbing the number of times I think about their macaroni and cheese ball appetizer. By far the best appetizer, and it says it's a homemade recipe, I believe them! I've never had that macaroni and cheese flavor, so good. Deep fried, it just makes sense, and it's probably one of the best things on the menu. Everything is great about this. You can feed your whole family and get a great dining experience, and it feels like it'll cost you an arm and a leg, but their prices are so reasonable you can bring your whole family and have dessert!"

"I recently had dinner at this restaurant and it was a fantastic experience. The price per person was reasonable, ranging from £30 to £40. The food was top-notch, receiving a rating of 5. The service was excellent, also receiving a rating of 5. The atmosphere was perfect, creating a pleasant dining environment, earning a 5-star rating as well. In terms of parking, there were plenty of spaces available. However, it is worth noting that the parking options were mainly paid parking lots. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious meal with excellent service in a lovely atmosphere."

"Seven of us visited for the curry evening, that wasn't purely curry but a wide variety of meals. Five of our group chose the Chicken Korma and the other two chose the Thai Chicken Curry. We had a huge pile of poppadoms and the most delicious meal. All for £5. What a bargain! The pub was toasty warm on a cold winter's evening and the service brilliant. Fantastic value."

"From the outside, we both thought the venue looked uninspiring, basic seating outside and a fairly plain building frontage... could benefit from some creativity from an exteriors expert. However, once we entered the pub for lunch, the service and general appearance and ambiance was top drawer.... staff were happy to see us, happy to serve us, happy to recommend. I had a v good pint of Otter, my wife a large NZ Sauv Blanc.... not the cheapest option, but bothe lovely. Food, well, my wife had the Moules... plenty of them, two good wedges of sourdough and skinny fries to help with the liquor at the bottom of the pan.. £18.50. My meal choice, whilst a little pricey, was actually full value for money.... Hake Supreme... samfire bhaji, turmeric potatoes and a mint yoghurt garnish.... SUPERB.. as good a dish as I have eaten for some time...highly recommended. We will return as soon as we can. Well done team."

"Ordered a takeaway meal at 5:15pm on 24th Feb for collection at 7:15pm. Arrived at 7:15 and had to wait over 45 minutes past the collection time for our food. This is totally unacceptable and will be the last time we use you. It is a shame as the food is nice but the ordering system is terrible. Other restaurants seem to manage to estimate the pickup time right so how come you guys get it so wrong. It ruined a rather expensive treat. You need to improve no excuses about being very busy . If you are busy then don 't take walk in orders while you prepare orders for people who have booked in advance. Give a sensible time to collect when people order by phone. My wife was stuck in your waintg area for 45 minutes and I was left waiting in a freezing car wondering if she was ever coming back. The oven was left on for 1 hour at home warming the plates too. It 's just not good enough!"

"I requested a gluten-free option for lunch and was given the choice of a gluten-free scotch egg or a gluten-free bacon and sausage sandwich. I chose the sandwich, but unfortunately, I became quite sick later in the day with typical symptoms of gluten ingestion for those with celiac disease. My daughter ordered food for a party of 2 adults and 3 children, and we all felt rushed and unwelcome. Furthermore, our drink order was incorrect despite it being listed on the receipt. My daughter has filed a formal complaint regarding all of these issues."

"We visited this café as a group and had a good experience in the past. However, today was disappointing. Despite having made a reservation, it was very busy. The service was quick and friendly, but we were disappointed to find that there was no gluten-free bread available. One of us ordered a white rustic baguette, which was extremely hard. We had to ask for the salad garnish separately. Overall, this experience has made it unlikely that we will return to this café anytime soon."

"Went to Brewers Fayre for breakfast after having called ahead. Asked if they allowed dogs outside “yes”, so I asked if they were serving breakfast still “yes for another hour” so I told them “great with those bits of info we will be there shortly”. After the call we head over to get some breakfast with our friends and the dog to be told “we don’t serve breakfast outside” and despite talking to several people all the way up to management we get turned away. They probably lost about customers in mins because they had dogs. EDIT: went again without the dog and fairly good service, although the options on the cooked breakfast was very limited."

"We came here for brunch and had pancakes, cream tea, and tomato soup. The food was pretty decent. The scones were fresh and delicious and the soup was flavorful. We were served by the restaurant owner herself, who was very friendly but also seemed a overworked and forgot to bring the tea with the scones. Still, it was an enjoyable experience, with a small and cute ambiance. It is a place I would come back to because I had a good experience and am glad to support small but quality neighborhood buisnesses."

"this place is a regular for me and my nan, we always come here when we are together and the food is always perfect. we always have the full english breakfast and they always cater to our needs. the coffee they serve is the best coffee I've ever had out in a cafe it's so lovely I could drink it all day! best not though! the place itself is looking very tired and old, the walls are extremely cluttered with pictures and photos. the walls all need a fresh lick of paint as it is chipped in a lot of places and is stained or faded badly. the lighting in the place isn't great, a lot of the lamps have shades missing so the bare bulb is showing and they have a lot of outside light fixtures indoors which was confusing to me. the toilets are absolutely diabolical, there is only one toilet for each gender and inside they are dirty, small and dingy. I would avoid them at all costs. whole place just needs a revamp and some tender loving care, such a shame as the food is so lovely all the time."

"We came here at lunch time on a very sunny day, so the place was packed. We did find a table [the last one]. The guy behind the Bar where I had to order the food, did not seem to know what he was doing, was rather slow and eventually got it all wrong, both food and drink. The Quality of the food was acceptable, but this being Pub Food only, the price is high, which is understandable, since they have such a 'captive ' clientele [this seems to be the only place to eat in Clovelly]. Would not return."

"Westward Ho is a lovely holiday destination. It's got a lovely sea refreshed lido, rock and sand beaches, some nice bars and this gem of a cafe. The owners were genuinely welcoming and we loved the Americana influenced ambience. It's central to the town square and the main entertainment amenities but most of all the food, especially the generously proportioned salads, toasties, sandwiches and stunning cakes are all beautifully made. My wife is a coeliac and their food including the epic gluten free salads, mains and cakes were a godsend. For us both though the stunning cakes were a highlighlight of our stay in Devon. All their many array of homemade stunning cakes were to die for but personally I found their banoffie pie caramel cheese cake was the best I've ever had in my entire life (and it's my go to if it's on the menu so that's very, very high praise) and was a thing of utter beauty. You REALLY do need to call in for at least a milkshake and sweet if you're even close to them, they're that good. Thanks to them for being so accommodating in terms of both service and the range of coeliac food they could accommodate. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. My only complaint is that you're half a country away from us... those stunning cakes but especially that cheesecake will live long in my memory."

"Called in whist cycling along the Tarka trail for a quick break today. Lovely cranberry teacake with lovely soft butter. Coffee and tea. Brownie with icecream, a tasty berry smoothie and milkshake made with icecream and milk which wasn't cold which was a shame. Victoria sandwich cake dry so dissapointing as I love cake. Plenty of seating outside either under cover or tables in the sun. Parking and bike racks. Pleasant staff. Order inside and it is brought to your table. Would call in again."

"This was the last night of our fishing holiday at the nearby Stafford Moor. As a group of 4 blokes who travel and eat out lots we unanimously agreed this was one of the best fillet steaks we’d eaten. Honestly, the local beef was superbly cooked and delicious with the usual trimmings. We drank Bays Real Ale and Guinness. Service was excellent and we passed on our compliments to the Chef. Excellent beer, top quality steak in a traditional Devon pub what’s not to like? Highly recommended by all four of us."
