"Riva is the best restaurant in Hale. This was my second visit and I was just as impressed as the first time, if not more! Last night (Thursday evening) we enjoyed amazing food and live music from a talented singer. Our group started with a snack board and then ordered beef Wellington, steak pie, fish and chips, and fillet steak - all of which were rated 10/10 by everyone. The service from the owner, a lovely gentleman, was outstanding. If you're looking for high-quality, unique food in Hale, Riva is the place to go!"

"Visited this great little coffee house today and can’t wait to return! The service was quick and the staff so pleasant and accommodating. My coffee was exactly the right strength and my partner had a gorgeous pot of tea. We shared the most amazing huge slice of cake too. All fresh and beautifully presented. The decor is quirky and fun, everywhere was spotlessly clean. So impressed, we got a takeaway Oreo milkshake for my grandson and I’m taking my mum next week for their fabulous afternoon tea. We are definitely going to become regulars!! Give it a try you’ll love it!!"

"*updated review* Enjoyed a little breakfast with my son on his birthday recently. Still very quaint and pretty in aesthetics and decor. Bathroom is spotless. Service is good, attentive but not in your face. Breakfast was lovely. Eggs benedict was cooked perfectly. I've added some new photos also. Tea has improved also. A real lovely brew. I especially love the teapot and cup collaboration. Updated my review to 5 star. Very cute, quaint little cafe, glad we made the effort to go here for breakfast this week. The lady that served us was lovely, smiley and friendly and attentive. Food was great quality, especially the bacon, not sure it was real butter on toast which was little bit disappointing. Dropped a star from my review as cutlery was not spotless and needed a wipe over with napkin before using. And the tea was not the greatest quality, even after brewing it lacked depth, colour and taste, and was not the best. However I would certainly return and amend my review if i found these aspects to have improved."

"Lovely food, prompt and attentive service, welcoming and friendly and very reasonably priced what more can I say! My partner and I called in tonight after a day at the cricket and despite being our first visit were made to feel like regulars. We both had pizza which was fresh, very tasty and arrived quickly. We finished off with liqueur coffee which thoroughly warmed us through definitely needed after a day in the Manchester summer . We were also offered a complimentary drink which was a lovely touch. Thoroughly recommended."

"This is the finest Italian dining experiences I have ever had. Before I mention anything about the food, the service provided by Dina was incredible. I felt as if she treated us like old friends and nothing was too much to ask for. Thank you!...Her colleagues were also great hosts. The menu itself offers an excellent variety of dishes, many staples of Italian cuisine like Carbonara but also many unique dishes. They have a lovely specials board too which I ordered from I had the oz T-Bone steak and it was heaven! I highly recommend the Arancini aswell!"

"Yes the Sunday chicken arrive today and as I cut into it there was blood oozing out, so food poisoning on a plate. When I complained about this, far from a proper apology, I was told that I had just cut into a vein , that they had checked it with a thermometer . Well all I can really say MUSTARD is that you need to replace your chef who obviously cannot see when raw/not properly cooked food is being served clearly your thermometer does not work. DO NOT RECOMEND MUSTARD unless you would like to spend a night in A E.!"

"Visited when Manchester United were playing away so I could watch the game on TV as I ate dinner. One of the managers (I assume? was very friendly and came over to speak to us early on, which was a nice touch. Saw him doing this with other tables too. We were sat by a window and had a nice close up view of Old Trafford, which is right opposite. There was a fair bit of a wait for the food, but I didn't mind this at all, as I was more interested in the football! When it came out, three of the pizzas were wrong, but it was dealt with immediately. Again, I didn't mind too much as my priorities were elsewhere, but they were very apologetic and even went as far to say they were embarrassed. They offered to take the one correct meal away to be replaced with a fresh one at the same time as the rest, but my wife declined the kind offer. When the correct food came out, it was good. Nothing incredible, but pretty much the standard I expected. We were able to enjoy and take our time eating while we watched the game. Eventually when we asked for the bill, I noticed it seemed a lot lower than what I had expected. I asked if something had been taken off (too honest for my own good! . The server explained that they'd taken off 20% because of the earlier errors, which was very nice of them to be honest. They wouldn't have even mentioned it if I hadn't, which was classy of them."

"I’ve been here many times now and the food, drinks and service are always impeccable!! Highly recommend the french toast, cronuts, fried chicken sandwich and the oat flat white is one of the best I’ve had! Great interior and lovely relaxed atmosphere. I believe everything is made in house and it really shows that care has been taken in the making and preparation of the food! Always a good array of options to please everyone and a good amount of outdoor seating too! Cannot recommend enough if you are in the area."

"My husband, son, and I recently visited San Giovanni's for the first time since before the COVID lockdown, and we were thrilled to be able to enjoy a sit-down meal experience once again. Although we have been ordering takeout meals, there is just something special about sitting around a table together. It was my 65th birthday, and this dinner was a wonderful treat. We started with garlic bread and a variety of appetizers, including tender spare ribs, meatballs, and calamari. For our main courses, I had a delicious fillet steak stroganoff with rice, my husband tried the linguine al gamberoni, and my son enjoyed his favorite, lobster ravioli. We finished off with affogato for dessert, our go-to Italian treat. We enjoyed a selection of drinks including a mojito cocktail, beer, and a lovely bottle of wine with our meals. The total bill came to a reasonable £191. One small issue was that our online reservation did not receive an acknowledgement, so we called to confirm our booking. While it was not a problem for a quiet Thursday evening, it could be disappointing on a busier night or special occasion. I would recommend calling to book in the future. Overall, it was a fantastic evening and we highly recommend San Giovanni's."

"We had a fantastic meal at Fat Loaf last night! We enjoyed sharing starters, like Tapas. Every dish on the menu was absolutely delicious - from the lamb tacos and beef croquettes, to the prawn and chorizo and chilli crab pasta. And we topped it off with creme brulee! "Friendly service, albeit could be improved. Considering we were the only customers there, was pretty slow. Food was average, compared to other Thai places around the Alti/ Manchester area. I think it 's a reasonable eat if you 're craving Thai and happen to be around the corner but places like Try Thai in town are a few notches up. Perhaps I 'll give the ala carte a chance, places like these always serve a watered down version of their food for lunch menus but imho still no excuse."

"I have been to the restaurant many, many times, I may even have another review on here, because the food has always been amazing, sadly, their behaviour the other Sunday means I will never set foot in their restaurant again and will advise others not to. I'm disabled and have an assistant dog. For the many times I have been to this restaurant over the last 10 years, my assistance dog has always been with me and I've never had an issue. Recently, they changed their tables and now there are no table cloths for my assistance dog to hide under. On Sunday I attended with my assistance dog and my assistance dog in training, who will be replacing my assistance dog shortly and who is learning to fit into my life, so gaining experience. The restaurant was empty when we arrived and we were welcomed. We picked a table out of the way on the right side of the restaurant that is split in two with a thick wall. Both my assistance dog and assistance dog in training were labelled as such and sat quietly beside me and made no noise and no fuss the entire time. We ordered drinks and food, all of which was lovely, we were coming to the end of the main course and were considering coffee and dessert when the waitress informed us that they had had a complaint from a another customer about the dogs and we had to stop enjoying our meal and leave. And not JUST leave, but leave via the back door and alley. Like we were some dirty little secret they didn't want anyone to know. I pointed out that they were not legally (Equity Act 2020) allowed to throw out my assistance dog, but they just shrugged clearly breaking the law is fine by them. While my assistance dog in training is NOT covered by the law, we would not have come in in the first place if his presence had not been permitted from the start, but we were welcomed in. The worst part of it was that there was NOBODY in our section of the restaurant so some nasty piece of work went out of their way to make my life more difficult and unpleasant and the restaurant made the choice that they would rather insult the disabled person and break the law than deal with the other customer. This entire unpleasant event has deeply upset me and made me feel like the staff at this restaurant have no understanding of the law, disability or common decency."

"My husband rang to book early bird only to be told that the only time available is 4.30pm as Vida was fully booked. Not a problem, so came at 4.30pm only to find out that the restaurant is empty, there are only 4 other tables occupied and that's it! Probably, they were fully booked or did not want to serve more as there was only one lady, in black/white top, quite big build there trying to serve those 4 tables.By the time our drinks and next table were taken, it took at least 20 min, as both of us took 2 for £10 offer on cocktails. The couple at one table finished starters and was waiting a while for the plates to be cleared and second course served as well as we were waiting for our food order to be taken as the lady who was serving very slowly was having a good bye conversation with another table who have finished and were going.May be it would have been good for her to let them know that since she was the only one, she needs to attend to the customers but she was not in a rush chatting, while we were there waiting for her to finish.Since the sale of Vida it just lost it's va va voom, great service and ambience, food is still good and of great quality but service has gone down hill for sure. The early bird in next door Borrello and Linguiny are always amazing and great, while on the several occasions we have been, it has been quiet, not welcoming and somewhat cold service.At the end, on the bill we were also charged 2 for £12 for cocktails, not 2 for £10 as advertised, but I said to the lady it might as well be classed as tips, as luckly 2 more younger, much more faster and proactive girls have arrived for about 5pm.Sorry Vida, I think I will give you a miss for a few months and stick to my favourite Linguiny or Borrello, but if and when I come back, I would like to see some improvement"

"I took 4 friends to TOAST today for lunch none of whom had experienced the pleasure before.......... and WHAT A PLEASURE . The food and the service were second to none. I have to say that all the staff were so very attentive and...didn't forget one single thing we asked for even though they were extremely busy! Needless to say, my friends were well impressed and I breathed a sigh of relief its always difficult recommending anywhere to people. It was just great thanks to everyone, including the chef!! "sent for a late Mother's Day meal. online booked what was easy to do. was able to change the time as later to go. the table was reserved when we arrived, limited choices as it was 3.30 clock, but we all found something we liked. cocktails special price 2 for £12 i/o £7/8 each. beautiful glasses for the drinks heavy and cut glass. main dishes were delicious, good portions and well boiled (fish chips, steak pie, pork.) I had a delicious orange lemon sponge with custard. 1 star dropped because small amount of plastic film found in pudding. also the regular ones sitting on the bar were deaf, we couldn't hear each other talking. almost another star pulled off, but that's unfair on the pub itself, sign of its success! the staff was very busy as I think the pub was full of other diners, family groups and very loud drinking. dogs welcome and water, bowls and a lot of tasty for them offered. cocktails are made. however they were very efficient, friendly and humble a credit to the place."

"It was not a great start to the night out. Once seated (just after 7pm) the order was taken not too long after. Normally the service is quite quick, even at busy periods, but today no drinks or food had arrived after 25 minutes. A quick word with the manager and the waitress was back to retake the order. Apparently original had been lost. It was nearly 55 minutes before we had all the food and drink on the table. At the his point we had a visit from the manager, who picked up the tab, and a new waiter, Dennis, who took care of us after that. Food was good, as always. Five stars awarded because food was great and we were looked after once the problem had occurred."

"A cosy restaurant/pub with a pub and bar area at the front and a more casual restaurant area at the back, you can dine anywhere though. Food is amazing and unique and great value for money. A wide variety of American food on the menu all for good prices. A small glass of soda (coke etc. is only £1.50. You can get 2 4oz burgers for £8.50 or 3 for £12 and what is good about it is you can mix and match your burgers so you still have a variety. The mini burgers are based on different countries and each has a very different filling- origins from that country. There are also many sides in large portions- big enough to share and delicious tacos and loaded fries and more"

"beautiful staff, eating was delicious and very cheap, really impressive service of more or less a waitress, all the front of the house for the whole restaurant. it is a small place, but impressive and admirable all the same and it is clear that the staff works very hard. (was not the name of our waitress, but it was fantastic; the service was fast and she was friendly, polite and very attentive. please go and try them socrates taverna, but only if they plan to tap! they earn every penny."

"Conveniently situated, this restaurant is a great pick for tapas. We were fortunate to secure a table as outdoor seating was not ideal due to the cold weather. It's worth noting that reservations are not accepted at this establishment. The tapas dishes we tried were all delicious. The service was quick and efficient, and the seating was comfortable enough. The selection of wines and beers was quite impressive. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, though I did find the prices to be a bit high considering the portion sizes."
