"We booked this establishment back in September, after experiencing a superb meal. Little did we know that the property was to change hands even though a £10 non refundable deposit per person had to be paid in advance and menus chosen. There had been no communication by the new owners explaining the situation therefore, we had no reason to believe anything had changed. On the night I started to get concerned when there was only 1 or 2 persons in the restaurant section. However we all entered were greeted and shown to the table. To begin with, we had to ask if the music coming from a speaker, being directly beside our table could be turned down (unable to converse or hear it was so loud). This took 3 requests. All dining had been previously booked (with the previous owners) therefore we expected to get what we ordered. When the starters arrived, one of our party who ordered soup received a third of a small bowl full. This was returned and a full bowl was received. The prawn and avocado cocktail arrived minus any avocado whatsoever. The main courses xmas dinner turkey or pork loins arrived. Well, eack turkey dinner had a variety of vegetables some had sprouts others didn't. Some had one sort of cabbage others had different. The meat was dry however the roast potatoes were passable. The two having pork loins had the meat on a large pile of mustard mash AS WELL AS roast potatoes. The meat I was advised, was tough and unpleasant and left. The deserts were a joke. Xmas puddings were circular and about 2 wide and half to three quarters of an inch deep. Some of the guests had theoretically black forest cheesecake which was the smallest wedge I have ever seen, about 2 and half inches long by and inch wide and less than an inch deep. There was no sign of any black forest interest at all. I wouldn't advise anyone to eat here in any way, waste of money. On top of which this trip cost us £60 by taxi. This would have been worth it with the previous owners, but not now."

"I have to say that the Afternoon Tea experience we had was not the best. The venue, service, etc was fine but the actual food itself left a lot to be desired. The Afternoon Tea was a Xmas gift to my wife and I from...some friends. I'm afraid I think the whole thing was overpriced for what it was and we would not have paid ourselves. It is advertised as a Hendrick's Gin Afternoon Tea for two. At no point in time were we offered any gin. When we arrived, we were asked what we wanted to drink, so we asked for, and received, a tea and a coffee. We then had to make a selection from the set menu. The only selection required was what type of pizza slices we required. Apparently, one was not a choice as it came automatically but it appears the option for either/or was in the wrong place. So my wife and I thought we could have the goats cheese option and the ham option. What we got was the buffalo pizza and a ham option. I say ham because it looked like the ham had been put on as an afterthought and was barely there! It should also be noted that the pizza slices were thin crust and nothing like the advertised fluffy mini pizza We then came to their new invention of panescone This was neither Panetonne nor Scone. It was closer to a rock cake in its texture and over baked on the outside.. The cream and jam helped to make it more agreeable in the consumption, once you got past the crunchiness of it! Not scone like at all. And certainly not Panetonne like! The Italian traditional desserts were the highlight and in keeping with a traditional Afternoon Tea. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I would not recommend the afternoon tea to anybody based on this experience. This will not preclude me from eating at their establishments in the future as I suspect they are better at lunches and evening meals. I would suggest they stick to what they are good at in the future,"

"I gave this a 'poor ' rather than a terrible purely for the police service. The waitor was polite (no more than you would expect, and plate clearing was a little slow but friendly service none the less . The food, however, was disgusting. I 've had some poor takeaways in the past, but never have I experienced such awful chinese food. It was greasy, bland, and sickly. The aromatic pork pancake was so bad I couldn 't finish it. You could see the oil swimming on the base of the pancake from the pork, so biting into it was unpleasant. The sweet and sour chicken was soggy, the spring roles were way overdone, nothing tasted nice. Not one dish. I have never had such a disappointing experience with Chinese food and I 'm not really one to leave a review but in this case, I really urge people not to go here, especially when you 're paying weekend prices like I did!! They need to make some significant changes here. The chef needs replacing. Side notes: The layout is chaotic no one way system, plates in the middle of the buffet The dessert buffet was an actual joke (fairy cakes you would serve at a playgroup fate and the cheapest ice cream you can get, hard mini marshmallows and dry jaffa cakes what?! The drink refills are not branded. Everything just feels DIY/cheap. Personally I would at least like real coca cola I paid thirty quid for the worst eat out experience I think I 've ever had, should have gone to wagas or nandos next door. Don 't make the same mistake."

"Where do we start. We arrived for our 5pm booking, and were shown to our table. After about 15 mins, we ordered our food and sat back down. At 6.30pm, we still had not had our starter meals, let alone the main course. As a family of four, two of them children, such a situation is totally unacceptable. We addressed this with staff, who apologized and said it would be about 15 minutes more. Customers who arrived AFTER us received their orders, and were eating. We were still waiting. Some even asked why we had not eaten yet. Eventually, the food arrived at 7pm. At no point did anyone say anything to us, or did we get an apology from the management. We were not the only customers affected. When the food arrived, it was hot, but it was obvious that it had only just been prepared. It was as if we had been forgotten. Given it was Mother's Day, it was hardly the kind of service for a family meal we would have expected. Surely, if you know that you have busy dates like that, as well as Christmas, Easter, etc., you should plan accordingly. At least if someone had said something, let customers know there is a delay, or limited staff resources, people would understand, even if they were not happy about it. The only saving grace was the lady who did help us was called Sabeen (I think her staff number is 5767). She was brilliant. She chased up the order, was helpful, professional and polite. Sabeen was the only member of staff who made any effort to find a resolution for us. The lack of ownership of the whole situation from the leadership of the outlet, and complete mismanagement of the process has let your establishment down, and places the reputation of the business on the line. Needless to say, we would not recommend Brewer's Fayre to anybody, nor will we visit again."
