"with my friend written on a september Saturday, in the middle of a short break in the cotswolds. very warm and friendly greeting from barman / renter and maid serve (berry we have no names! , especially from the pub-dog molly. nice to see a detached house still, with a few good hand pumps ales on (I had the lamb bitter together with a decent selection of gas cocks. decoration and feeling creates the seemingly popular 'shabby chic'/pseudo old world country style with mixed / interesting used furniture and right (for me! 'classical pub' feeling. I'm not a big fan of pubs to Gastro/Faux land to be more city/city and new (ish country types, but then I got on 'proper' rural/empty from nowhere to kneipen with mud on the floors, no heating and gents loos at least 3 fields away, so that the lamb good to move with the times and still keep me happy to go? it is a hard business and people, including bar and waiting staff, need to make a living. sae in superdog friendly multi-level gardens, and some people just there for a few drinks, so good to see a mix of drink and eater welcome. I had the 'cracked pork' burger, the super tasty pork was a crispy peking style, my partner a generous caesar salat with excellent sardels. all in, a crisp independent old pub in a beautiful village, give a warm and friendly welcome to the trade as well as local, catering for walkers and dogs in an attractively furnished pub served right beer and really good eating. if something could be improved, a few lighter, simple items like a traditional ploughman 's or a few sandwiches on the lunch menu I would surely go down a storm, especially for walker/cycists, but everything in big things long can be successful!"

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
