"If you're looking for excellent modern Japanese food in a cool club like setting, please try this place. I have tried quite a few Japanese places across Berlin over the past years and finally made a reservation at 893 Rotei. In short, if you're looking for a place that is slightly "cooler" than the many other places in Berlin, please try 893 Ryotei. Indeed, the place and the overall concept is a bit "constructed", but I liked it and it was never "over the top". The restaurant is technically a rather long, dark narrow tunnel with a central open kitchen / bar setup. We secured a table for two, which was absolutely fine. If you're interested in "people watching" seats at the bar or in the open area might be better. - Many people were not satisfied with inattentive service, which I cannot confirm. Our waiter was very professional and actually eager to help and make good recommendations (both food and sake). We had: Chawanmushi (savory egg custard), Tako (Grilled Octopus), Daniel's Tartare, Tiradito Hiramasa (Peruvian style yellow tail), Corazon (Beef heart), Muno (Chicken main dish), Teriyaki Beef. All items were very good. I thought that the Tiradito and the Octopus were outstanding. - Maybe many diners are always looking too hard for absolutely stunning and life changing food. At Ryotei, the food may not be absolutely original or unique (many techniques may have been inspired by Nobu or other modern Japanese chefs). However, it does not really matter to me because the overall quality of ingredients, preparation and general mood were a great match. All elements provide for a pretty good and satisfying dining experience. I will certainly go again next time in Berlin..."
