"Food is amazing. Chicken cooked to perfection, juicy, gluten-free, optional chilli or other sauces. The best chips, like French fries with a bit of skin, but so tasty. Cooked in olive oil? Both skin lovers and not keeners loved the chips. Basic but fresh salad...nice simple accompaniment. Gluten-free vinegar, salt and olive oil as condiments. Great bar. Recommend the (affordable) sangria was or Different sizes available) . Lovely, attentive service. Decor fun in a Portuguese /European way. Shop with Portuguese food at front of premises, tables tucked inside. Cafe area outside too. Will definitely return and try more dishes... With chips!! Surprised!"

last night we had a wonderful meal in a taskinha in this hidden gem of a restaurant. the inner is like a tardis, with so much light and space. we ordered heavy fish and thunfish and both were beautiful. great garlic bread to begin. will certainly return.

Spent a few days of holiday in Plymouth with my partner. Went there two nights in a row and don't regret it. We loved the food even the fish soup, it was amazing and the service was great. The flavours took me...back to Portugal, I can say I enjoyed every bite

I took work friends here for a Christmas meal/meeting. None of us had been there before and all three of us will be going back. One had the Tina steak and two of us shared the chickens meal. The chicken was cooked perfectly....Think Nando’s and you’ll be comparing badly cooked small chickens against perfectly BBQ’d spit roasted large chickens. Pedro and his wife are a hidden Plymouth gem!

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
