"Only three small sandwiches were offered per person, usually you get asked if you’d like more. The gluten free option had stale bread, one slice of cucumber , half a tomato 6 olives in lieu of sausage roll slice, the gluten free scones tasted of bicarbonate of soda. We needed more tea to wash them down but had to wait for quite awhile until a waiter finally appeared for us to ask them. For cakes we had a small brownie, small poppy seed square a tiny jam jar of blackcurrant with a dollop of cream on top. Only two fruit scones each no plain option. Gluten free version had a small sweaty brownie, but a large slice of carrot cake, which was excellent, plus two dry fruit scones the jam jar thing. Disappointed that such a lovely environment had such poor service stingy portions. We won’t be going back."

I had a lovely experience at Bartley Manor. The tea was beautiful, and the service was excellent. There was a wide variety of delicious food and cakes. It was a wonderful afternoon. Just a note: they don't accept cash since COVID. Ver carta

The tea menu did not live up to the standard suggested by the sample menu shown on the hotel website. In particular one variety of cake was missing and was simply replaced by doubling up one of the other cake varieties. The fruit scones were lacking much fruit. We felt the food did not represent value for money. However the surroundings were great and cleanliness was spot on. It was a relaxing place to eat.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at Bartley Lodge Hotel, a present for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The food was delicious and catered for one vegetarian and one non vegetarian. The young man that looked after us was very attentive and did not let our teapot run dry! We sat in the large conservatory overlooking the garden and my only criticism was that we were a little close to the couple next to us, so we all had to keep our conversations fairly muted, however this did not spoil our experience.

"This review is based on my experience on the day, and could be different for you, but I doubt it. I kept being told about a Burrito bar in Southampton and that I should try it. Well I attended today, with the friends who told me about this place, and have to say I had, up to this point never had a Burrito in my life. Seen many programs showing them but never had I ever tried one. Followed what my friend did, and I got my burrito the way I wanted it to be. You walk in, you’re asked if you want a small or large (unsure if medium is available burrito. Then your problems start, but in a nice way. So many main options it can be mind boggling until you get your head around it. The staff were fantastic after I chosen my main meat/rice of tomato rice and shredded beef. I then moved on to the extras, sauces, chose a mild sauce many salad options and it was then prepared for eating (folded then wrapped in silver foil then payment. And I was ready to eat at the tables in the front part of the shop. Warning that prices vary dependent on the size and the meat you have as your filling. Mine with shredded beef with the rice and toppings I chose totaled £9.95. No complaints from me as the food was hot, tasty, held together by the silver foil, filling and worth every penny in my opinion. Pricing is no different to any local take away I suppose but the bigger the meat (to many to list hear, but from pulled meat to chunks of steaks you have the more expensive it is but it is filling and good value. If you are not a meat eater you could ask for a vegetarian burrito, made of rice and the vast vegetable additions. Cannot see that being an issue. You can do take away, eat in or delivery. They do other dishes which I did not even get to look at but I would say all pallets are catered for. You could always call in advance or check their website, Mexigo Southampton. I think there are other Mexigo branches around the local area as far as Maidstone if you google Mexigo. Don’t shoot the messenger as this was the first time I had visited this shop/chain and I was unsure as you are reading my review, but I was satisfied with what I chose, and think if you plan your selections well either there or via the website you will not be disappointed."
