"Lonely Planet recommended this hotel and restaurant in the tiny town of Ficuzza, between Corleone and Palermo. SIRI was having a difficult time with the Italian, I guess, and we had many misdirections in finding Ficuzza. When we finally got to the charming little mountain town in a forest preserve, we couldn't find the restaurant. We asked a perfectly dressed elderly gentleman, who spoke little English, for help and since he couldn't express the directions, he walked us down a grassy hill in the forest to the hotel and restaurant! It turns out his grandson lives in San Jose. The hotel, a restored old railroad station thus the name) is beautiful and the obvious setting for many wedding and other large celebrations. We arrived just in time to be served lunch the last remaining diners were just finishing up), and we were so glad we made it. Unable to communicate much with the server, we indicated that she should pick, and she came out with a truly vast plate of antipasti-artichoke frittata, marinated egg plant and red peppers, salami, cheese, olives, polenta, prosciutto. We couldn't believe all the delicious food. We changed our order, so that after that, we had one main dish, home made pasta with sausage and mushrooms, to share. Still, we had to take two boxes home, which we had for breakfast in the airport the next day! The entire adventure and the delicious meal form a great memory of Sicily for us."

The lunch menu for 26 Euro or the mini lunch menu for 18 Euro are epic in taste, quantity and selection. I had not been there for perhaps 8 years, but a December weekday lunch was still worth the trip from Palermo. If the weather is ok you can walk it off along the old railway line

We were here for a family wedding. The accommodation is basic but reasonable for the price charged. The location is attractive, even in December and the building warm and cosy, especially by the big fire. No complaints about the food although a little disorganised in the morning. Can't agree with other comments about the town itself which we found very run down and dirty. Overall a good stay.

Stayed the night here before visiting the royal hunting lodge. Dinner was great. The almond pasta fantastic and the pork chop was huge and could be split between people. As a plus it was cooked to perfection. The rooms were nice. Beds were also free than most Italian beds and the pillows very nice. The shower has good water pressure if you wait for it. We will be back here again. Can’t ask for a prettier setting.

I attended a wedding here with my partner, and can only describe the food as being of excellent quality and served expertly in generous quantities. The location is beautiful, and we also stayed here overnight. The rooms are pleasant and functional, and for the low price are great value. If you prefer a more luxurious type of accommodation, I would not stay here, but would highly recommend a visit to the restaurant.

It is not everyday that you get to eat in an old train station! From many traditional Sicilian appetizers to the first course with amazing pasta, to the dessert (panna cotta pictured below), we left fed with one incredibly delicious meal. The staff was efficient and helpful in telling me about their many gluten-free options. This was the tastiest meal on our recent trip to Sicily, and probably also the cheapest. Moreover, we enjoyed walking around the property, and could not get enough! On our next trip to Sicily, we will definitely make a special trip to picturesque Ficuzza to stay at the hotel and eat again at this wonderful restaurant. This would also be the perfect place for a banquet or...

The food here is lovely. The atmosphere might get a bit noisy as it is hugely frequented by locals (hundreds, seriously! , so it is not the ideal setting for a romantic quiet dinner. But the food here is extremely good and well worth the effort to get to it. It is also very close to a gorgeous hunting lodge built by Ferdinand I, which is also worth visiting. A walk in the forest after lunch will help the digestion of the amount of food taken in : . The menu is on most occasions a fixed one consisting of about 10 types of mouth watering antipasti, followed by two types of pasta and a main which most cannot down. We once ate from the a la carte menu but possibly that is reserved for dinner or...

We stopped here on our way back from Corleone. Literally out in the middle of nowhere. We were the only people here on this particular afternoon. The waiter did not speak English (thought he was very patient with us! but our driver translated for us. Our menu choice was to get a traditional Sicilian meal or to order off of their menu. We were in Sicily so we ordered the traditional meal. First, a 9+ course appetizer (for 4 people . We filled up because everything was so delicious. Next course we each got a dinner plate filled with 2 types of homemade pasta with fresh topping. Even better! Next was a huge piece of fresh sausage with roasted potatoes and veggies. Then onto dessert and, of cour...

Having traveled a considerable amount and trying to be fair and considerate to the people and their business, I wrestle with such a low rating. To be fair I’d give the restaurant portion of this location a 4 rating. The food was exceptional, voluminous in portions, and the service exceptional. Thus the title. However this location is a wedding venue with the lodging portion an afterthought. Upon arrival the person simply handed us a key and told me the room number, which is on level three with no lift. That was it. No welcome just room number with the key. The 1st night was not a problem as we were exhausted from the overnight flight. However as a wedding venue the 2nd and last was horrific....
