"We noticed this cafe had vegan options and although we are omnivores, were having a meat free day. The cafe is conveniently situated on the high street and furnished with upcycled retro furniture. Half of the seating area has tables the rest armchairs. We selected a table seat. The waitress gave us a menu and requested we order at the counter. The menu is bread based with various breads with various fillings. Strangely everything is served with potato crisps and a salad as an option and there are no soup choices at lunchtime. We both selected the plant based meatballs in focaccia. Leaving aside the confusing name they were very tasty albeit rather dry and overcooked. They also came in flatbreads not focaccia which we should have been told but hey the flatbreads were good. There was free tap water on tap a nice touch and we polished things off with a selection from their comprehensive list of teas and tisanes. Covid rules well adhered to and kind friendly service. However the loos were closed due to Covid as they couldn’t achieve the social distancing required which was disappointing."

We went her to meet up with a friend, who had chosen this as it is dog friendly, and had a light lunch and coffee. The food was excellent and the service friendly and efficient.

My husband and I were looking for a quick meal while staying at a nearby farm. The staff was lovely, the atmosphere was cozy, and the toasted sandwiches were the best! Thank you!

Excellent little friendly cafe. With nice selection of sandwiches/paninis. Comfy seats and lovely staff. Recommend the posh fish finger sandwich but also the mozarella and chutney panini. Visited 2 days in a row because it ticked our brunch boxes.

Visited today just for a quick cup of tea and piece of cake. My peppermint tea was excellent, served loose in a proper teapot. My husbands said his coffee was also excellent and judging by the way he wolfed down his huge piece of carrot cake that was very good as well. The two young ladies that were serving we wonderful polite despite being busy. Well done.

Great find after being recommended by someone passing who overheard us not being able to take our dog into a different cafe. Great coffee. I had falafel platter and my partner the fish finger sandwich. Both very tasty, didnt look much but was very filling and didn't have room for cake so we'll have to return another day! Quirky decor, with mis matching furniture and a few crafts for sale. Very welcoming with friendly polite staff.

My friend and I were staying locally for a week. We happened to pass Artisans around 12 and as we were booked for an evening meal later we were looking for a light bite. We were delighted. The space is friendly, warm and has atmosphere. The armchairs we chose were comfortable. The people seemed a mix of locals and visitors. The food was superb. I had a Parmesan herby scone with Welsh cheese and slices of apple and chutney. It was delicious. My friend had a coffee which she said was excellent and I had a pot of tea which also hit the spot. As a bonus it was dog friendly so we didn't have to take our greyhound and whippet back to the car. The staff were friendly and helpful. It set us up nicel...

"Great food and been there many times. As a party of 7, with 3 children under 6 years, thought best to book a table. Told on the phone that they don 't take bookings. Arrived early and found a large table, and just as the other 6 were arriving I was told the table was booked! If I 'd known I would have found another cafe. As it was we waited ages for a table with small children milling around, complete with dirty looks from staff. Disappointing. Some suggestions on how you could have dealt with the situation better: 1. Let us stay on the table until another table was ready, as the party for the reserved table did not turn up for over half an hour. 2. Apologise that the table was not clearly marked as reserved. There was a bottle that I noticed much later, where 'reserved ' was written on only one side, which faced the kitchen. 3. The waiter should have mentioned the reservation rather giving me menus and taking a coffee order while I waited. 4. The waiters (yes several, I must have looked like trouble) who turfed me off the table just as my family were arriving could have explained why the table was reserved when i had been unable to reserve a table because, as you said on the phone, you 'don 't take reservations '. You replied that it was reserved for a 'private party ' and when I asked how that differed from a table booking, you kept repeating the words 'private party '. I was none the wiser. 5. An apology would have gone a long way rather than treating me as a difficult customer. 6. You made me feel totally unwelcome at your restaurant. 7. Well done! Your service, or rather the lack of it, has lost a formerly loyal customer. Quite frankly I 'd rather eat at MacDonalds, at least they 're polite to their customers.
