"We arrived in the hope the restaurant would be open for breakfast as it was pouring with rain and our normal Saturday morning venue only has outside seating We were warmly greeted but advised breakfast was usually only for the chamber d'hote guests however we...were asked to wait whilst the waitress checked with the chef and we were thrilled to learn they would accommodate us anyway. We were served excellent coffees, freshly chilled orange juice, crispy warm croissants, toasted brioche and toasted pain de campagne with butter and a choice of confiture all for euros per head. Excellent service, good freshly cooked food and a warm welcome ......fabulous value for money"

Great place for family, friends or a date night. I've never had a bad experience here. Duck confit is my go to plate but my husband has something different everytime and has had no complaints.

A very nice creperie with good food, good service and you won't leave hungry. Surprised we had never eaten there before, but worth waiting for. Main speciality is savoury crepes. Being a veggie, I thought it best to ask for my own fillings without jambon...or lardon. Not a problem. The price of a good meal out very affordable.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening in September, we had a nice table on the rear terrace. Service was excellent and the range of choice on their menu was fantastic. Lots of vegetarian options and the portions were generous. The galettes were made...with buckwheat flour and were very tasty, and it was great value for money.

Had an unexpected lunch here. I had a seafood special, the prawn skewers were delicious and the mussels were served in a beautifully light sauce. One friend had a gorgeous rare steak and another the duck confit both served with hassleback potatoes and salad. The...house Chardonnay was delicious. This place is quirky and very friendly, I would definitely recommend a stop here.

I would have given this stars except for the magret de canard which was overcooked. This is one dish I would expect to get as requested in the region as duck is one of the main local specialities. of us ordered it, both...asked for it saignant but it came medium to well done. As we were with children, we didn't send it back but despite a good flavour it was not up to scratch. Other than that, the restaurant is not too expensive has a small rear terrace which you wouldn't see from the entrance on the main road.

Now I have your attention. Again the food was so delicious I had to eat it all and wipe the plate with baguette reserved for the task. The staff are so nice and friendly that however much I wanted to complain I just couldn’t find...anything to complain about. I wanted to say the food was terrible but my spotless plate would make no sense. And why would I order desert? Don’t come here. I did it once and now I am addicted. Now compelled to eat and a half desserts because my companion is too full. Don’t risk it especially if you are visiting.

We stopped here for lunch on our way to Carcassonne. What a lucky find! The menu was quite extensive and covered all tastes (vegan included). We enjoyed a lovely meal, which was served by courteous and attentive staff. On our next trip through Quillan we...hope to stop here for an evening dinner. Well worth the trip. Just a side note; there is parking at the rear but the parking at the front is close to a number of absolutely filthy municipal waste bins, which were overflowing and surrounded by debris. It is such a shame so close to a dining establishment.

"This little bistro has recently changed hands: a couple of weeks ago I passed by to see it full to the brim which was very good to see as the previous incarnation was tired and not great at all. So yesterday I went for a...lunch, a simple menu of 5 or so starters, mains and puds. I wanted to like it very much but to be blunt, the food was pretty awful. Tomato and Mozzarella was old cheese, icy tomatoes and watery salad that had mixed with the vinaigrette. The main course of Pork in mustard sauce, a classic of cooking. Sadly accompanied by penne pasta which was unseasoned, and unadorned, and some aubergine. It was just not great. How much better it would have been to have mashed or creamed potatoes and perhaps savoy cabbage with bacon, then you would have a classic bistro dish. I had a little conversation with Nathalie as she is the new patronne, and I wished her well, as its a really nice room, her staff were pleasant and it would be really nice to have an alternative to the Galerie which is the best place in town, consistently good though completely different in price and the Plantenet which is also a busy, friendly consistently good enough place. But I fear if this is going to be the standard, her restaurant may struggle. I hate criticizing restaurants because I've done it myself for ten years and its a tough tough business. But you have to at least get the food right. Its not the only thing, ambiance, position, staff, company, many many things go into making a good restaurant. But sadly, the food was mediocre at best. The coffee was awful, watery and poor. With a quarter pichet of Merlot it was 20 Euros. Not at fortune its true, but they need to sort themselves out or this particular re-working of the Cafe au Gare will not last long."
