"We only stopped in for drinks while on the walk over from St. Stephan Cathedral to cross the river and make the climb up to the Oberhaus castle... the large patio overlooks the confluence of the Donau and Ilz - what a perfect setting to enjoy a large mug of the delicious Bavarian Heffeweise (wheat beer) - my son - only 15 - was jealous he did not get to enjoy a brew with his 18 year old cousin! The pretzels did look tempting. The service is table service only - large signs on the outdoor bar to the effect "Take-away Verboten" - but table service was quick and friendly - after our beers we were fortified to make the steep climb up to the castle - but it would be very easy to while away a sunny and pleasant afternoon quaffing multiple brews in this beer garden!"

"Cena aquí, que consiste en sopa de hongos para los dos. También tuve las empanadas de pescado con ensaladas y patatas au gratin, y el marido hizo salchichas y sauerkraut. La sopa era genial, y el servicio era razonablemente atento. La salchicha no fue memorable según ... a mi esposo, pero disfrutó del sauerkraut como por encima del promedio. Mis empanadas de pescado eran densamente embaladas y suaves. No había limón ni salsa para golpearlo un poco, así que cavé la cuña de limón de mi bebida para darles un poco de un poco. Las patatas Au Gratin eran el estilo de hogar y el bien, y la ensalada era un bonito contrapunto de sabor fresco a los peces y las papas. En general, un buen lugar para cenar y a un precio razonable."

"Just to the right of St Stephens Cathedral in Passau’s Old Town, a unique cafe/restaurant. Wonderful and uniquely decorative rooms and furniture. The hot chocolate and pastries were so delicious we returned later in the day for hot food. All beautifully presented and served and...with very little waiting time. The longest waiting time was waiting to get a seat as it was so popular with holidaymakers and residents alike. Reasonably priced and highly recommended."

"Due to a huge downpour we sought shelter and an early dinner at the Altstadt Beisl. Not knowing anything about it, we were taken by the friendly welcome by the lady owner and the down to earth, very reasonable and tasty food that was served with a very nice glass of beer and good cheer.After the meal we thought that we could still just fit in one of the lovely cakes on display. And what an experience that was. A warm Mohnkuchen with ice cream and Schlagsahne arrived. Had we only known, we would have ordered two. We savoured every little morsel. Homemade by the lady owner as we found out later. The best Mohnkuchen we ever had. And we had plenty of cakes on our travels through Austria."
